Hello lovely people. I get married in October next year. When we first got engaged a few months ago we had abit of a flurry activity, booked the venue, photographer (who already had limited availability for 2018) etc but when should I start looking at purchasing the following: Wedding dress Bridesmaid dresses Suits for the gents Wedding rings Do I choose dress then shoes or other way round?!

I've just downloaded an app called WedHappy and it gives you a timeline of tasks to complete! It's brilliant!

You need to know the height of your shoes to know the length of the dress. I took a pair of heels that I thought would be the same height as my shoes. Wedding dress id start looking now, some dresses take a while to come into the shop and you need time for alterations etc plus time to pay it off. Bridesmaids dresses again look now but be conscious of any body changes etc so might be better to order them maybe 6 months before. Suits again look whenever as you can get a deposit down on them and spread the cost. Rings you could leave til last if you really wanted but need to consider if they'll need to order in your size and also how much you're willing to spend. All can be done as early as you like to help spread the cost

Wedding dress is never to early. I'd personally choose dress first. Bridesmaid dresses depend on where u get them from. I got them from a bridal shop took 9 weeks to come. Suits again depends if your hiring or buying. Earlier the better I would say xx

Get the dress first, they will alter the length to work with your shoes xx

I'm getting married this October, not booked flowers or dj yet. But got my dress in February and the bridesmaids in march in the sales, good to look around after Xmas all the party dresses are about which you can get for bridesmaids if you don't have loads to spend in a bridal shop x

I bought my wedding dress a year before my wedding day, my wedding rings were purchased about 8months before hand. My husband had a made to measure suit so he ordered that at the same time as my dress and the bridesmaid dresses where from Debenhams and they were bought about 5 months before the big day. Purchase shoes first hand as you will need them for your fitting good luck with your big day! It goes so quick, enjoy every minute xxx

We get married July 2018 ... we've already got our rings.. found them, loved them and bought them... wedding dress shopping date set in May 17 ... not even thought about suits yet ...

I bought my dress 14 months before wedding. I had my shoes too but they didn't need them until they did the first fitting. My bridesmaids dresses I got about 9 months before but that depends on if getting from bridal shop or off the shelf at a shop as most bridal shops include alterations in the price from bridesmaids but if off the shelf you don't want to pay for alterations if your bms change size. We got our rings 2 months before the wedding as I was losing weight and didn't want to have the ring altered before we even got married. We hired suits so did that about 1 year before wedding x

I chose dress then shoes. So long as you have the shoes when you go for fittings there shouldn't be any problem (unless you are extremely tall). I get married in September this year, bought my bridesmaids dresses in march last year and got my wedding dress in November. My H2B only got the suits 2 weeks ago (they have bought them rather than hiring, I suspect if hiring then you may need to allow more time to ensure that they will have them for the date you require). We got our rings in January this year because we found what we wanted. We also wanted to make sure we spread the cost of everything so that we weren't paying out for everything in one go xxx

I ordered my dress about 8 mths before & apparently that was 'last minute' for that dress shop... I also need big alterations as I needed it taking in plus I was having a corset added instead of the zip & button detail it already had!
So the dress was the first thing I sorted after the venue, then I found a bargain pair of bridal shoes from Debenhams, reduced due to a scratch on them, which didn't matter as I was blinging them up anyway!
Then once I knew what my dress was like I sorted bridesmaid dresses... Which I then got let down on 2 months before my wedding, I found a place on Facebook instead that was great & sorted dresses for me at less than £40 for 2 & got sent within a week!
The wedding rings we'd ordered at around 4 months previous to the day. Suits around the same time!
(We had over a year to organise our wedding but left it all to last minute!) Get things sorted asap, it so much easier!

I ordered my dress last week which is 1 year 1 week to go!! They had shoes in the shop for me try the dress on with. I've just ordered 3 pairs of wedding shoes online, which i'm gonna take into the wedding dress shop to check which colour/style matches the dress best. The men know what suits etc they are hiring but Debenhams said they should go in 6 months before to get measured and order them - they also said to leave bringing the kids until a few months before due to growing. We ordered rings last week as well. We're sorting stuff early so we can get it paid for quicker rather than paying for everything last minute! Re bridesmaids dresses, i'm not sure how long in advance to sort so will be watching this post!!!

We're getting married at the same time as you and we have both venues sorted with all the decorations for the reception, a Dj, our "Save the Dates" and invitations, my dress and veil, the flowers, the cake and a photographer. We haven't even really set out to be this organised it's just all fell into place for us.

I'm getting married on 19.10.2018 and I got my dress 2 months ago. I tried some on to find out what styles suited me and I found one I loved so much I was so worried I would go somewhere else and not find anything I liked as much and that dress would have gone so I brought it. If you buy it early just don't go looking for other dresses.

We get married September 2018 and we have everything for the wedding sorted now apart from men's suits and bridesmaid dresses.
I've priced up suits and will be booking towards the end of the year start of next br they don't need lads measurements until 6 weeks before wedding.
Same with bridesmaid dresses. I won't be sorting those until this time next year only as I have 3/5 under 11 so I know they going to grow.
I've had my wedding dress since last year and brought rings today. Some people will tell you it's all to early but when you know you know!
Good luck planing and enjoy xxx

Ur dress first! Got mine 7 months before wedding as had just had a baby! I would then get bridesmaid dresses. (Ur shoes depend on if u want them to match ur dress or the colour of ur bridesmaids dresses). Suits, most shops are happy for a few weeks notice X I think the time line doesn't matter... But the longer u look the more choice u will have or the more confused u will be by all the choice X give ur self a year for ur dress X

I ordered my dress last week and don't get married until March 19. My advice is if you see something you want book it as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Also the sooner you book everything the less stress there is closer to the big day.

It's entirely up to you. Most people would probably buy their dress first but I'm a shoe lover and I fell in love with a pair from Charlotte Mills. I was going to wait to purchase them but I went to a discount evening in November and couldn't resist. I've still not bought my dress but if it doesn't go with my shoes then it's not for me.

When I've looked online, you're apparently meant to order your dress 8-12months before your wedding! But it depends on what shops you are planning on going to! I won't be going until September (5 months before) as I'm on a 6 month weight loss programme through the docs that I wanna finish first!

Shoe wise; get them first! I see soo many bridal programmes where they get the shoes after getting the dress and the heel ends up being too big or too small and then the bottom of the dress becomes a disaster. At least if you have the shoes, you will be able to see what the dress looks like with them on!

Suit wise...if you are buying them then you should be able to get them at any time but remember stock levels of suits could prevent you from getting them all close to the wedding. If you are hiring them, it's recommended 6-12 months before!

I get married in 10 weeks, I brought my dress in September 2015 and rings about the same time, my bridesmaid dresses were ordered in October last year and the suits I got last month. The longer you have to plan the easier it is! X

I got my wedding dress just after I booked my venue so 15 months before haha! I was too excited :) Bridesmaid dress over a year in advance too. My shoes I got about a month ago but still have not got the gents suits and we get married in 3 months! I was so organised at the beginning and basically had everything organised and now the last few bits I have been rubbish with!

I'm getting married March 2019 and I am already looking and trying different dresses? Some dresses can take up to 9 weeks to come in so I would try and sort that out first. Also a lot of high street shops now do brismaids so you can leave that until like a month before the wedding. Hope that helps

I'm getting married in march 2018, and got my dress at the end of Feb, just got bridesmaid dresses now and today I bought wedding shoes. But I feel like I've done a lot of it too soon, though I think I'd rather that than panic later on!!
