Has anyone else had this issue and how did they deal with it? I ordered my wedding dress from a bridal shop in July last year and 2 week ago she said it should be here so I went back in today and she said it should be another 2 weeks leaving it 6 weeks before my wedding day, I don't know if this is normal but I'm getting very anxious about leaving it that late for alterations or if it doesn't fit (I had my baby a month before so my body has changed a lot since then) it's really stressing me out. Thank you!

Pretty sure that's standard, I got married 2 years ago and it was about 6 weeks. You'll have a final dress fitting a couple weeks before just in case xx

Which shop have you ordered from? I ordered mine in November last year they told me my dress had been ordered etc with estimated date of delivery for April - I found out just before Christmas that the shop went in to administration they hadn't even ordered my dress luckily I found a wonderful shop that did the same dress and they ordered it in January and it came last week. I get married in just over 9 weeks time and have 2 dress fittings one in two weeks and one 4 weeks after that

Not with my wedding dress but my bridesmaids dresses were cutting it fine. Don't stress too much.. Ours arrived in enough time to have fittings done. Just keep ringing and asking but I'm sure it's fine x

I'm having my fitting 4 weeks after having a baby - 3 weeks before the wedding and another appointment to check 1-2 weeks before the wedding. It is possible.

My bridal shop said my dress would be in 2-3 weeks before the wedding, I nearly had heart failure and begged it to be in at least a month before. Apparently it's standard practice to leave it that late and it leaves enough time for alterations so I wouldn't worry so much that it's that short before the wedding but if it was me I would worry that they told me one date and now another, that's the thing that would freak me!

I ordered my dress two weeks ago and it'll be here in 6 months. My wedding is May next year.

I had that with my bridesmaid dresses. In the end i demanded a refund and had to go to wed2be a week before i got married with 4 bridesmaids. It may be worth having a backup plan in case then its not too stressul. Id tell her if its not here by next week u want ur money back and you'll go elswhere. Sometimes people just need a kick up the derrier x hope u get sorted x

I went looking for a dress in January, my wedding is may next year so I thought as most places had said 8-9 months delivery I thought I would be safe. I found the perfect one and it was delivered within a week. Best about UK suppliers. I would have a nervous breakdown if mine wasnt being delivered until a few weeks before the wedding.

I think it's normal- mine was ready less than a week before, with final fitting four days before my wedding! I was panicked but turned out ok!

If you're worried about your body shape you could always ask for the measurements to give you more time and feel less panicked about it

Mine came 2 weeks before wedding & i still managed to get alterations done

I am seamstress. And have adjusted dresses for the brides and the bridesmaids. Brides do try to loose weight before the wedding, the figure changes. Four weeks before wedding is sensible time to have your dress with you. Some brides prefer me to keep until few days before their wedding. Don't panic and ask for your dress to be delivered to shop, you have paid for the dress and you want it in your possession.

I went to my bridal shop in March to order my dress, my dress was in the shop 4 weeks later they were so helpful i couldnt havd asked for more, i also got my bridesmaids dress there, my wedding was October which gave us time to alter the dresses. I wish you all the luck in the world but dont worry x

I ordered mine in May 14 for my wedding in April 15. It was in the shop in November 14. I think I had 3 fittings, with the last one for final checks a week before the wedding

I ordered mine in Nov and it arrived in the shop in March xx

I had the same problem, I ordered and paid for my dress 7 months before the wedding date, my dress arrived just over a week until my wedding day, when I went to collect it, it had a stain on it, even though it was a brand new dress. It was then a massive rush to collect the dress after it had been cleaned, and have my one and only fitting before the seamstress altered it. It added a lot of stress to the days before my wedding and I wouldn't ever recommend the bridal shop I used. It's such a shame to see it's common practise to leave the ordering of the dresses until so late. Try not to stress, just keep phoning them :)

Megumi McLennan Chelsea McGuire Kytt Clifford I'm reading these comments and freaking out now maybe I shouldn't wait until the end of the month to order it and just go in and order it in the next week or so??

Think it depends where u go, but worth doing research b4. I ordered mine in Dec, got told initially it'd be in in June, then april. I picked it up just over 3 weeks ago.
