Me and my fiance got engaged on the 13th of march so I am wanting to get married on the same date however it's not until 2020 which means it falls on a Friday my mother in law is freaking out about about a Friday 13th wedding, would this bother any of you it doesn't worry me but I'm concerned about what family and guests may think. Thank-you in advance ????
It's your wedding your day! Don't let people change your mind. Friday 13th is a superstition! If it fills right for you do it.
Its based in the old type calender which used to have 13 months , and also the 13 aposals who sat with jesus in christianity. Im not supertitious so it wouldnt bother me. Also friday is also a sacred day based again in christianity the day of the last supper.
No it's a load of rubbish! We're getting married on 13th (albeit it's a Saturday) x
Tell her its your choice. Get married whatever time and day you want too.
It's just a date. I got engaged on Friday the 13th so is a good date for me. Xxx
I am so superstitious so yes would totally bother me, such a silly thing I know
Your and your partner love each other obviously so what difference does it make if you marry anyday of the week as long as it's on the date you want. We got engaged 15th August, so we're getting married on the 15th August 2020. So I fully understand the sentiment behind your decision xx
I'm getting married on Friday 13th was offered free welcome and toast drinks which should of cost £750 to get married that date as it's not very popular xx
It would bother a lot of people but you can use that to your advantage and negotiate a really good price 👍🏻
I wouldn't worry one bit. My fiancé was born on Friday 13th and he is the most wonderful person x
Load of nonsense. We are getting married on Thursday 13th and our first anniversary will Friday 13th next year!
I'm getting married on a Fri the 13th. Doesn't bother me or my partner as none of us are superstitious. At the end of the day it's you and htb that need to agree on the date, no one else!
It's your wedding not hers. I would totally play up the idea of it being Friday the 13th have ladders that guests have to walk under, broken mirrors etc x
I've never had a bad Friday 13th! I actually think 13 is lucky for us so we're getting married in the 13th x
My Fiancé and I are specifically waiting to have a Friday 13th wedding and all our friends and family think it's great although apprehensive but know it's our personality to do something Luke that xx
Its only a bad omen if you believe it. If thats the date you want to get married on. Then do it! Like i said itll only be bad if you let it and if people have a problem with it, or question it then theyre not looking at the big picture. Which is that you love each other and want to declare it in front of everyone :-)
Wouldn't bother me but then again I was born on Friday the 13th
Itll be cheaper :D
I'm getting married on Friday the 13 of 2018!! I have no fear, it's just a day, turns out it will be the best day of my life so really I wouldn't worry about it!
Don't let her opinion change what you want...it's a very old superstition and it wouldn't bother me, nor most people. Go for it :)
I think it's cute. And every Friday 13th will remind you of your most favorite day x also were getting married two days before our three year anniversary. But the day were getting married was the last time we saw each other before my fiance left to join the army! I didn't even realise it until just now x
I don't see what fuss is some people are too dramatic n some are just superstitious x
I think that's quite an interesting little conversation piece, "we got married on Friday 13th" makes it even more unique. I'd say go for it, it's just a superstition xx (but get your save the dates out nice and early so people can book the day off work) xx
To be honest the omen is really 13th November.. but I really wouldn't worry anyway, it's a superstition and I'm sure you'll be fine x
You might get the date for cheaper since other couples may be put off
I had the choice of Friday 13th July or the same day as my parents anniversary and I chose my parents anniversary just because I don't feel comfortable with Friday the 13th.
Depends if you're superstitious or not. If you're not, do it. If you are, maybe don't. I personally wouldn't but it's not my wedding.
I asked my friends and family before booking it. They all said they wouldn't mind booking the Friday off so we booked it. Just check with people first x
Lucky for some! Go for it.
I would love this! Thats the perfect date. Always loved the number 13. We got married on the 13th i would have loved it if it was a friday!
Only unlucky if you are a descendent of the alumni so go for it!
Our friends got married on Friday 13th last year and it didn't make one bit of difference, the sub even came out!
A friend of mine got married on Friday 13th as it's the only date their venue had for the year they wanted and had no problems. If anything it was cheaper as no one wanted to book that date! Xx
I'm getting married on Friday 13th October this year and I'm more excited because it's different xxx
I'm getting married on Friday 13th April 2018 , because we started seeing each other on Friday 13th September 2013 so it's a special day and we put an offer on a house on a Friday 13th and got accepted on Friday 13th!! It's your day you have it when you want ! X
I'd love it! X
I'd have picked it on purpose, haha!!
I don't believe in luck (not superstitious) so wouldn't bother me! You should just do what you want to do ;)
My h2b would love it lol if its wot you want go for it x
I'm getting married on Friday 13th October this year! X
I got engaged on Friday 13th march 2015 it's just a date xx
I've booked mine on Friday 13th on purpose 😊 I've always fancied a Halloween wedding so I now have Friday 13th October! So no, it wouldn't bother me at all!
Our first year anniversary will fall on Friday 13th oh well.. it really doesn't matter about the date xxxx
You can have an incredible wedding and everyone that comes will love Friday 13ths from then on :)
Take full advantage! I heard a lot of places are willing to do a wedding cheaper on friday 13th because they are unlikely to get a lot of takers x
I was never superstitious until I arranged my 18th birthday party (a while back now) on a Friday 13th - everything that could have gone wrong did, plus extra!
Since then I'm very superstitious but sounds good to take advantage of all the freebies if your not superstitious :-) x
It wouldn't bother me. It's just another day, it may bother some of your guests but it's your wedding day as long as you and your Husband to be are happy with the date go for it!
Although it's a silly superstition, your mother-in-law is an important person, and you could get married on any day, so why get married on the one day she doesn't like when there are 364 other days to choose from. On a practical note, it's a weekday, so will all your important guests be able to take a day off work? It might be a cheaper day to get married though if you can negotiate a Friday 13th discount with the venue!
We specifically chose to have a Friday 13th wedding. Nobody cares, nobody should care. Do you want to look back on it and remember not having the day you wanted because of a silly superstition?
I get married next April. Friday the 13th. We met on a Friday the 13th and his birthday was Friday the 13th so it holds good vibes for us. It's only
Bad luck if you make it so
I was born on Friday March 13th and would not hesitate to marry on Friday 13th
One of the best days of my life happened on Friday 13th! I married the most amazing man anyone could ask for! We then renewed our vows on our 13th wedding anniversary last June! Definitely not unlucky for me! Xx
Brilliant! Friday 13th Wedding! How unique!! Id use it as a theme...how could you have known it would be that date 3 years on from the proposal? I think its a lovely idea
Go for it! 13 has always been lucky for us so we got married on March 13-and our 1st wedding anniversary was on Friday 13th. It's a bit quirky and no one well ever forget your wedding anniversary x
Am I missing something, why isn't there a 13th of March until 2020?
