Hope you don't mind me joining in, I'm curious about this too! I don't know if it's something I should be getting now (as we've already started booking things) or not at all!

We got ours from E&L, this was 5 years ago now I think. The earlier you can get it the better - generally only the first 1000-1500 you spend before getting insurance is covered and this includes the engagement ring and any deposits you may have paid. We paid less than £30 for a decent level of cover x

I bought mine as soon as we were ready to start paying deposits. I also used debenhams and got the gift voucher. It's better to be safe than sorry x

Hi I'm a wedding planner . Wedding insurance should be the first thing you get . It's very important . Believe it or not . In the small print on contracts with hotels or venues . If any spillages to carpets extra with red wine ect occurs then you will get the full cleaning bill . Even if it wasn't you who spilt it . If anything goes Missing in any of the rooms by your guests at the venue . They will contact you , not them. If the venue goes into administration then you lose your deposit . You will of course get it back with wedding insurance . It's a vital.

We purchased insurance when we booked our venue. It cost £36 and covers us up to £12,000. Hopefully we don't need to use it but rather have it just in case

Ours was John Lewis the most important £101 of the wedding I think - you never want to use it but if you ever need it you'll be glad you paid for it! Xx

I got mine from John Lewis. Covers up to £50k and it covers even if my dress is not in my own house! Check the policy wording to see what is and isnt covered!

I'm still looking to get mine but unfortunately can't afford to for a couple of months. Due to this we're holding off on booking anything else until we get it.

It's recommended that you get it as soon as you book your venue...

UKbride Administrator

Debenhams and if you look online you can find a discount code or free £25 voucher. We booked with them as soon as we booked our venue.
They area really easy to deal with if you need to claim. My sister had drama with the cars 1 week before her wedding and they said book new ones and send them the recipient. X

I purchased mine when i started booking things we got married abroad and it covered everything it was like £30 and was worth it it even covered any damage to my suitcases and everything it was that good i see this way you don't drive your car without insurance why risk all that money if your not covering yourself for it i just used a comparison website it was that good honestly mine even covered if my dress was lost in transition they get me the exact same within 24 hours as we was over nearly a week before we got married definitely recommend it

How soon before the wedding should you buy it? I'm getting married August 2018 but I have only paid small deposits at the moment so didn't think I needed to get it yet?? Any thoughts would be great x

What does it actually cover? If you need to cancel because you are ill or family member is seriously ill? I just looked at Debenhams and it says it doesn't cover if you cancel due to a terminal prognosis? Surely the whole point of getting it is for situations like that!

I got free wedding insurance with my dress. It's great cover x

To get wedding insurance or not to get it?
Already in 2017 I have been aware of several venues that have gone in to administration, causing stress and heartache for couples.
We have been researching and are happy to recommend this company.
Hit the link and have a nose. You need the one off event link and then the drop down menu will take you to Weddings. Might be easier on a desk top possibly. Competitive prices and good comprehensive cover.
