Hi brides! Recently engaged and been looking at prices for things but would like some help with a wedding cake, I do want something nice with sugar flowers or real flowers and 3 tiers but have no idea what the cost normally is and want to budget this, I'm in Kent so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The best thing I found was ask around family and friends if they knew anybody we looked at loads of companies and the prices they were charging a were ridiculous we have gone with a family friend and the price is so reasonable

Mine sounds very similar to that & I'm paying £370 inc delivery to venue.. Wedding cakes are expensive, but its worth it if you want that wow factor xx

I'm a baker and it all depends on where you live and what sort of design you want as some designs take hours to do so we have to charge for that time. To help you though in regards to sugar flowers. Most bakers charge per sugar flower. So for example a cascading rose cake you could pay anything from £2 to £5 per rose. Not all bakers will do this but most will. Shop around and also look on recommendation. I get married this August and I am making my own wedding cake. Now being a baker and also getting married I know that let's be honest not many people actually eat the cake it's more to look at than anything. So don't feel you have to feed every guest. You could just have a small two tier. Or even have cake dummies. But dont be fooled by that reducing the cost as they are just as expensive as sponge cake. I am making my whole cake as a dummy cake and making two cutting cakes a couple days before so if anyone does want cake they can help themselves. Good luck.

As a cake maker myself it all depends on the sizing, how many flowers handmade or real you want, the flavours Ect.

My price for a 3 tier vanilla with the sizes of a 12 inch, 10 inch and 8 inch with flowers and petals flowing down the side can come to £300. The more you want the more expensive it gets x

We got our from m&s sort of off the shelf cakes but we ordered them so that they were as fresh as could be. We changed the ribbon to match our colour scheme and our florist added real flowers to decorate it. The cake for 4 tiers was £110 2 tiers fruit cake and 2 tiers sponge but there is a chocolate sponge option too. We brought the stand from Amazon or eBay £40, ribbon a couple of quid, gel balls £5 , not sure how much the flowers cost as it wasn't itemised in with the other flowers. We were so impressed with how it turned out

3D cakes have an offer on which ends at the end of March. We paid £199 for a four tier cake with set up. Have had our tasting and their cake is gorgeous. Defo worth having a look you'll find them on fb. They are a Scottish company but provide all over the uk

Mine is 3 tiered different flavours and paying £280 which includes delivery. Shop around as for the same cake I was quoted £650 at another place. Always best to look for a small business or someone who does it on the side of their normal jobs. They're more likely to be cheaper.

I am a cake maker of many years standing, and I made my own wedding cake in August. Not having the storage space a shop does I dont keep stocks of icing, cake boards etc. Just the cost of making my cake, which was 12in fruit and 2 tiers sponge and a dummy top cake cost me £190 just for the ingredients and boards and flower paste. Plus the time it took me to make off the flowers. £350 upwards is a good price, plus the worry of delivey and setting up is unpriceable, I panicked getting my own cake to the venue!!!

Do you know anyone who makes cakes? My mum's friend made ours for £100. Definitely worth asking around as some of the prices of cakes are ridiculous!!! We also had a 6 tier cheese tower for about £250 :)
