Hi brides! Recently engaged and been looking at prices for things but would like some help with a wedding cake, I do want something nice with sugar flowers or real flowers and 3 tiers but have no idea what the cost normally is and want to budget this, I'm in Kent so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I bought my friends for her big day and i was £160 someone i knew from work made it for me x
Mines costing around 120 which I think is on the cheaper side as some quotes were 1200 x
I have been quoted £600 down to £160 so makesure u shop around you should find loads of pages on ur facebook to just msg different people until ur satisfied, try and get some pics of how u would like ur cake and send them with ur msg thats what i did
Hope this helps good luck
The best thing I found was ask around family and friends if they knew anybody we looked at loads of companies and the prices they were charging a were ridiculous we have gone with a family friend and the price is so reasonable
Mine sounds very similar to that & I'm paying £370 inc delivery to venue.. Wedding cakes are expensive, but its worth it if you want that wow factor xx
I ordered my tiers from m&s and my florist is doing fresh flowers x
I'm a baker and it all depends on where you live and what sort of design you want as some designs take hours to do so we have to charge for that time. To help you though in regards to sugar flowers. Most bakers charge per sugar flower. So for example a cascading rose cake you could pay anything from £2 to £5 per rose. Not all bakers will do this but most will. Shop around and also look on recommendation. I get married this August and I am making my own wedding cake. Now being a baker and also getting married I know that let's be honest not many people actually eat the cake it's more to look at than anything. So don't feel you have to feed every guest. You could just have a small two tier. Or even have cake dummies. But dont be fooled by that reducing the cost as they are just as expensive as sponge cake. I am making my whole cake as a dummy cake and making two cutting cakes a couple days before so if anyone does want cake they can help themselves. Good luck.
I'm having a naked cake one xx
150 being made by a friend who does cakes xx
Mine is costing £200 for a cake for 40-50 people mine has loads and loads of detail on though xx
@emrosecakes do amazing wedding cakes! She's doing mine & she travels all over for it!
We've ordered (in Kent), 4 tier cake (all different tiers are a different flavour), including the stand, delivery, set up etc, we've paid £390 and its bespoke designed to us and colour matches our theme ... feel free to message me if you want the name of the company we have used 😊 x
I wanted a 4 tier with sugar roses and was priced £475. So my friend made it and we made the roses ourselves xx
M&s cakes I had they were fantastic taste and fantastic price! 3 tiers all different flavours they were fab!
Get quotes for a celebration cake rather than wedding cake ....you will find it will be cheaper !!!
Nancie Benice Noakes
I am available my page is cake creators and I am very reasonable on price and 3 tier cakes star at £150 x
I ordered 3 different size cakes from m&s with stand for less then £70 and getting my flourish to sort out some fresh flowers to be put on it x
we brought three different flavoured tiers of cake from marks and spencer's and my mum decorated it herself cost less than £300 :) they even do gluten free fruit cake so we brought a small one for my aunty :) you can even order taster cakes before hand :) this was our cake x
If you want something really bespoke try the Whitstable Cake Company x
My mum made our cake just added foam flowers into it it didn't cost any more than £30 to make xx
We got quoted about a minimum of £200 for 2 tiers!!! So we got a friend to make it. We only wanted sponge and bog standard icing. Cheapest was £190 x
Tell them it's for a birthday. I got got quoted over £400 for a cake... Then got a family member to request the exact same cake from the same place for a 'party ' and I'm only paying £85 :)
As a cake maker myself it all depends on the sizing, how many flowers handmade or real you want, the flavours Ect.
My price for a 3 tier vanilla with the sizes of a 12 inch, 10 inch and 8 inch with flowers and petals flowing down the side can come to £300. The more you want the more expensive it gets x
We got our from m&s sort of off the shelf cakes but we ordered them so that they were as fresh as could be. We changed the ribbon to match our colour scheme and our florist added real flowers to decorate it. The cake for 4 tiers was £110 2 tiers fruit cake and 2 tiers sponge but there is a chocolate sponge option too. We brought the stand from Amazon or eBay £40, ribbon a couple of quid, gel balls £5 , not sure how much the flowers cost as it wasn't itemised in with the other flowers. We were so impressed with how it turned out
We have a 3 tier cake, all layers ate different flavours and has lots of pretty flower detail on it and it's costing us £370 including delivery to the venue x
3D cakes have an offer on which ends at the end of March. We paid £199 for a four tier cake with set up. Have had our tasting and their cake is gorgeous. Defo worth having a look you'll find them on fb. They are a Scottish company but provide all over the uk
If you don't want anything too fancy ask around friends! We had 2, one for after the ceremony and one for the reception and we got both for free!
I just wanted plain with a few flowers, mine was 110
Mine is 3 tiered different flavours and paying £280 which includes delivery. Shop around as for the same cake I was quoted £650 at another place. Always best to look for a small business or someone who does it on the side of their normal jobs. They're more likely to be cheaper.
I am a cake maker of many years standing, and I made my own wedding cake in August. Not having the storage space a shop does I dont keep stocks of icing, cake boards etc. Just the cost of making my cake, which was 12in fruit and 2 tiers sponge and a dummy top cake cost me £190 just for the ingredients and boards and flower paste. Plus the time it took me to make off the flowers. £350 upwards is a good price, plus the worry of delivey and setting up is unpriceable, I panicked getting my own cake to the venue!!!
Do you know anyone who makes cakes? My mum's friend made ours for £100. Definitely worth asking around as some of the prices of cakes are ridiculous!!! We also had a 6 tier cheese tower for about £250 :)
This was our cake. It was 3 tier, each tier was a different flavour and we opted for real flowers :) We paid about £250 (inc flowers)
We had a bespoke design 4 tier cake, first quote was £400 and then the following 2 quotes for the same cake were both £200! Definitely shop around for a good price :-)
My mumma made my wedding cake! See if there's anyone who's good at baking who will do it as a gift
Try bonne bouche cakes & bakes by Debbie wells... she did a 5 tier for 150 ppl for our wedding in maidstone for £300 & was ammmaaazing!
£120... top and bottom were fruit and middle was vanilla. xxxx
Mines 3 tier, different flavours on each, royal icing and £350
Katie Clarke may help with price ideas
We had a 'fake cake' 5 tiers, one was chocolate fudge cake the rest polystyrene. I bought cake bars from m&s for extra cake. And nearly a year later, my cake it's in my kitchen looking just as amazing! I paid £150 all together for the cake and the cutting bars x
