Do I honestly need a toastmaster? I like to make sure everything is running ok, and to be honest, I'm a bit of a control freak, I don't think I'd be able to relax knowing I'm not in control on the day... It would be nice to have a helping hand, I just don't know how relaxed I'll be not being in full control.

We aren't having one. We want a more relaxed feel to the day so, for us, it would be weird to have one. We've warned our groomsmen that they may need to shout for certain thing and we'll use the DJ for others

We aren't having one as for me, it seems a waste of money. We will be asking the best man or a loud family member ....but with our wedding package we have a wedding planner anyway x

If you want it to run smoothly and enjoy yourself then yes! I had the manager of the hotel we had our reception in as ours and she made sure everything ran on time and just how I wanted it. I am also a control freak but they are trained to ensure your day is perfect

we didnt have one, the whole day went without a hitch! Do your venue have a wedding planner or consultant?

I'm also a bit of a control freak but I did have a toastmaster and I'm so glad we did. It just means you can relax and enjoy the day that you've spent months/years planning, we had a few meeting with him before the wedding to go over how we wanted the day to go. He helped massively with the timeline for the day, and organised everyone for photos, etc. If you can afford to have one, I would highly recommend it x

My dj was there from the beginning to end to do music for the ceremony right through to the end of the night. She kept everything on track.

We're having one as they're included in our package. I can be a bit of a control freak too but I also know that if I don't let others take some of the control on the day then I will just stress all day and not enjoy myself. I think sometimes you just need to put your own enjoyment first and let someone else deal with the organisational details especially on your wedding day. They're trained and know what they're doing and they'll help make sure things are clear, guests know when and where they're going and ensure that things run to time. Personally I'm glad we've got one included but if it's not what you want then don't have one, it's your day

Yes definitely have a toastmaster! Mine was amazing! I was in full control, I told him what I wanted or wasn't happy with and he was on it, my every need was catered for and he guided us through the day. I would not have been so at ease if it wasn't for him! He worked with the venue coordinator and the rest of the staff and made sure my bridal party knew what to do.

Any wedding I have been to someone from the hotel is the toast master. Usually the maitre'd. Ask your venue if they do this.

We've not got a toastmaster! I find them a bit too serious. Our venue are making any announcements etc throughout the day in stead.

We had one and he was amazing!! I would definitely recommend, he took so much stress off the groom and ushers. X

No you don't! I don't see the point in the extra cost! Everything in our day ran a little late but everything happened so wasn't a problem! Lol x

Not having one. Our wedding coordinator from venue will just tell the best man/ushers what to announce and when. I think toast masters are too impersonal and snobbish personally.

We just had an event manager, from the venue, on the day. She sorted the timings. One of the best men announced us in to the wedding breakfast. Toast master is a waste of money in a fancy red coat if you ask me

Thank you, everybody for the feed back... I guess my main worry is, my h2b and I were at his brother's wedding last year, and nobody could stand theirs... She was so snobby and awful, people were just taking the mick out of her and my h2b's brother complained a lot that she wasn't sticking to the plans and ruining the big day for him and his bride :( I just don't want it t be like that

They told me not to bother as I only had a small venue and wedding party. I wouldn't want one anyway I have a manager from the venue and it gives the best man and wedding party something.to do

If you don't like the thought of a toast master, how about hiring an on-the-day coordinator? They'll do exactly everything as you wish and will ensure your day runs like clockwork. Leaving you not to worry and enjoy your special day. We're a husband and husband team and offer this service, so if you're based in London and the South East, check out our Facebook page Ever Ever After or take a look at our website www.evereverafter.co.uk

I can't stand toastmasters the ones that I've seen and met are always over the top and attention seeking. The steal the lime light but not in a good way.

The people that own the venue will run the day for us, a bit like a toastmaster but without paying for one :) xx

I'm having my wedding in a tipi, so I'm organising the whole thing myself, with an awful lot of suppliers! I'm also a control freak, and the last thing I want is to be worried about things on the day, so I've hired an 'on the day events manager' who I can go through things with, the way I want them - worth the money for my peace of mind!

I never originally even thought about this but our caterers offered us their toastmaster within our price and I must say he was brilliant all the guests commented on how good he was

Went to a wedding recently where they had a good friend be an 'mc' made it nice and personal. Perhaps a bridesmaid or groomsman could do this role. Or
Someone you want to include in the wedding. The 'mc' introduced people
And have a bit of background
Which was nice :)

I'm sure I ready somewhere it's advised for weddings over 60 people...ours isn't that many so we cancelled the toastmaster that came with our package

I quite like the idea of maybe a family member or friend doing it, I think it adds a bit more of a personal touch.
