Do what's best for the two of you - don't do what you think other people will like, and as hard as it is, don't go out of your way to please other people! Remember it's all about the two of you and what you both want x

Don't listen to anyone else! If you want to do something a certain way, then do! Cos you'll only regret changing things for other people.
It'll get stressful but just remember the reasons you're doing it x

Don't listen to what other people want or let anyone pressure you in to something to do with your wedding, if you don't love what you picked don't pick it, xx

Take your time planning the most important details at the start (budget, venue and guest list).
These three things build the planning foundations and everything will work around them.

Remember it's your wedding but don't always ignore others as they may have some good ideas, also, a lot of people saying do what you want, but sometimes "doing what you want" might really upset others and cause issues, don't lose people over 1 day, there's always a compromise if you're flexible!

Best bit of advice I could give you are check what flowers are in season for when ur thinking of having ur wedding before you book, I booked my wedding for this October , all the flowers I wanted turned out to be spring flowers, had to rethink all my flowers which is stressful when uv got ur heart set on something xx

Don't listen to others opinions. Its your day have it exactly the way you want. You can't please everyone anyway no matter what you do.

Do book all your big suppliers asap so not to be disappointed.

Do enjoy every minute of the planning even when it gets stressful cause before you know it your big day will just be a memory. I'm getting married May 6th so really tying everything up and looking back I'm quite sad all the planning is coming to an end and wish I hadn't stressed about things so much cause everything worked out xXx

Don't leave things to the last minute. Try and have everything done at least a week before the wedding. Don't change things to suit others. Make time for you and your other half that doesn't have any wedding talk. Talk to your parents and ask them what they want as they expect you to be mind readers

Write a to do list
Write out a budget
Keep a list of ideas
Think carefully about who you ask to be part of the ceremony
Ignore everyone els but your partner
Occasionally ignore your partner, you know best

My biggest DONT would be try and not become obsessed with wedding and every last detail. You aren't going to please every single person with what you choose. Biggest DO tip, enjoy every second because the whole day will fly past in the blink of an eye. Xx

Do what you and your partner wants it's YOUR day
Budget or spread sheet to keep a track on money
Go to wedding fairs so you can see as many different suppliers etc.
Most wedding dresses take 8 months to come so get it about a year in advance.

Make sure it's a day that you and your h2b really want and don't get stressed. a wedding is only disaster if you and your husband end up not married. On my wedding day it pissed with rain, I didn't get the marquee that I had booked cause of the weather, I was late for my first dance as my son had really bad colic and the hotel forgot to save part of the cake, some people never turned up and guess what I had not a care in the world. I married the man that I loved and the father of my gorgeous boy.

Don't stress. Number 1 point.

Don't spend too long on pinterest (all those ideas look amazing but then you realise they cost a lot to pull off!)

Don't spend what you can't afford.

Do be mindful of which people want to talk about your wedding and who doesn't as much. Some people will want to know every detail and others won't. If you want to chat weddings, pick the right people to chat weddings with!!!!

Do be organised- lots of spreadsheets to keep track of spending and guests etc.

Do enjoy it! Every last minute!!! :)

Have fun!!!! x

Do what you and your partner want and don't listen to other people. Your wedding your decisions xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 7 Mar 2017

Don't invite people you and your H2B don't want at your wedding. Even if there will be arguments after the wedding.
Don't listen to people who want things special for them on your wedding day, its your day not theirs.
Do keep a notebook with you at all times so you can jot down ideas as they come to you so you don't forget.
Think of a budget very early on to save disappointment.
Have your hen do/stag do weeks ahead of the wedding, if you want one.
But MOST of all enjoy your day it will go so quick xxxx
Congratulations and good luck xxx

Don't worry about anyone else - do what you want to do! Remember it's is your day and it's what you want that matters most, if you worry about what others like or prefer you will drive yourself crazy, that was my biggest stress. Once I focused on how I wanted my day to be the planning was very easy! Good luck x

Once you set your budget, decide an order of priority on everything to distribute your budget. We prioritised photography and the rings as they are the things you keep forever. Don't be forced to spend more than you want to or have available. xx

Don't fall into the awful habit of thinking it's only your day. Don't let planning take over your life! You still need you time! Don't fight with your h2b over anything wedding related, it's not worth it! You're celebrating your love! That shouldn't cause a fight. Don't let others bully you into any plans you don't want! Don't expect everyone to be as absolutely obsessed with your wedding as you are, some people just aren't into weddings!
