How important is it that the bridesmaid dresses "match" my wedding dress?...

How important is it that the bridesmaid dresses "match" my wedding dress? The style of dress I like on my maids has more capped sleeves and have a slimmer silhouette . My wedding dress is Empire/A-Line with sparkles and lace. My mum keeps telling me the dresses won't match mine, but I'm starting to run out of time and patience finding something that "matches". Plus I don't want them to look too similar! I'm the bride after all and want to stand out! Surely a bit of lace on all the dresses will tie them all in?!

I don't think it matters because as a bride you'll want to stand out :) as long as the bridesmaid dresses match or are similar then what does it matter :) your the bride I decide

As long as it all fits in with the day your having then I wouldn't worry xx

I thought about this when picking dresses and then thought "you know what I'm really not that bothered"! My dress is champagne and lace; one bridesmaid has burgundy velvet multiway and the other has dark green velvet multiway. My third one doesn't have a dress yet but she's my 13 year old sister so I'll be happy as long as she wears some kind of clothes!

I didn't want my bridesmaids to match my dress...
My dress was to make me feel like a princess. I had 2 youngest bridesmaids, 1 flower girl & my MOH .. All their dresses looked gorgeous & hopefully made them feel good but in no way did I get them to match me. They matched my day, that was what I wanted!

I had Grecian style BM dress, and had strapless for mine, looked amazing together. They don't need to match at all. Xx

My bridesmaid dresses are nothing like my dress. Mine is a completely different style and if my bridesmaids were dressed in the same style, we would look ridiculous! Go with whatever suits their shape xx

Mine don't match me at all..... They're totally different! I was told not to try and match them as lace and detailing can be too hard to get exact.

I'm going to have a hard enough finding a dress that all my bridesmaids will be happy with, I'm not even going to try and match to my dress

Huh? You can do whatever you want, there is no rule that says they need to match in style. As long as it all goes with whatever theme or colour you're going with, that's fine.

I didnt even think about the style matching. Just found dresses we all liked, that fitted nicely, in the right colour and a good price!
