how do I include my brother to the wedding? He's my only sibling. My dad will be doing the usual things dads do and he can't be part of the groomsmen/usher party as my h2b has 3 people doing that already. Any ideas would be appreciated as I don't want him to fade into the background, thank you

I had my brothers as my witnesses. It's kinda nice that they will forever be on my marriage certificate. X

My brother and his girlfriend were our witnesses xxxx

Why can't he be an usher? There's no limit on how many you can have. We've got a best man, 2 groomsmen, 3 ushers (one of which is a female) and our two young nephews will be standing with the older male ushers.

We also had our brothers as a witness, 1 brother on each side so made sense

Unfortunately my mum or dad wasn't here for my big day so i had my brother and my son walk me down the aisle and they both did me proud x

My brother is one of the groomsmen for us and my other half has his best friend as his best man and 5 of his other friends as groomsmen xx

I would just make him an usher as 3 isn't a huge amount. Or he could be a witness x

Our son played his clarinet at our wedding maybe if he has a talent that works for a wedding he could do that?

I'd suggest a witness if he's over 18 - if not ask him to do a reading?

I've got my brother as my 'man if honour'. He was a groomsman, but there's loads of them! He's my only sibling too :-) I have 5 bridesmaids and then him. He doesn't have to come/organise any hen dos etc but on the day he's my go to man to get people sorted and keep peeps in check!! he's making a little speech too. He was so happy when I asked him. Another thing I had thought about was asking him to be a witness. Xxx

A reading is a good idea. That way he is part of the ceremony which will be special.

We did a candle lighting in the ceremony, so our mums could be a part of it, ask your registrar of this may be possible... it was a lovely little way to include them xx

My brother was a groomsman & signed the register as my witness :) x

Witness or 4th Usher, both families should share.

UKbride Administrator

I agree. Four ushers would be perfect - in the church or for the ceremony there can be two on the bride's side and two on the groom's side.

Could he be the ring bearer and look after the rings. X

My brother is usher, but if not an option maybe have him as a witness or doing a reading?

UKbride Administrator

My brother was a groomsman but he also did a reading and was our master of ceremonies as he has got the loudest voice ️. X

I'm lucky my H2B had no issue having him as a groomsman, in fact it was set in stone before he chose his own. My bro means too much to me not to have as he's my only sibling. If it means that much to you, then talk to your H2B about what role you want for him and surely you can work it out?
