If your getting married at a venue does it have to be a civil ceremony?
I think that's just what they call them you can do readings and stuff if that's what you want x
Yes, that is what they are called if the ceremony is non religious/not in a church. You aren't normally allowed to have religious readings at a civil ceremony either. If you don't want a civil ceremony you'll have to do the church then go to your venue :)
Your venue is simply the place you're having the wedding. This could be a church or a registry office. the type of wedding you have depends on your venue.Religious weddings take place in a place of worship,a civil ceremony takes place in a civil building, such as a hotel
I got married in a hotel by a minister and had hyms. It was a religious ceremony but not in a church x
We are having a Christian minister marry us at a venue and have been assured this does not lessen its religious value
Yes. A religious ceremony would have to be in a religious building. A hotel etc would only offer a civil ceremony unless they have a church/chapel onsite.
Yes you can't have a religious ceremony at a venue.
Registrar's can only preform civil ceremonies. I believe you could ask a minister to preform a religious service at any venue.

What some of my clients (I'm a photographer) have done is to get married 'officially' at the Register Office and then have their own celebration marriage done by a celebrant - for example a Humanist marriage.
I had a minister for mine, at a hotel, it was a religious ceremony :)
You can always get a civil marriage done at your venue but have it blessed in church? You can wear your dress twice then!
You can have a religious ceremony outwith the church
