Started off with a £1000 budget which has since grown to £5000. We drove around the countryside, stopping to ask farmers to use their land to put a tipi on. I'm lucky that my mum is making my wedding dress. I posted on a Facebook group close to our venue for local bands, make up artists etc. Get everyone to bring food and drink. Make a free wedding website instead of sending invitations and save the dates. Buy things off eBay like lights and candles/jars to put pebbles in, make your own 'everything'. Get married in a village hall and dress it up. Get married on a weekday or Sunday. Hire a budding photographer instead of expensive established one. Do research on bands we eventually found an awesome one for only £950 instead of the £2000 for all the others. Involve musical friends. Get bridesmaids to buy own outfits but let them wear something they can wear again rather than a traditional bridesmaid dress. Hire a humanist ceremony conductor instead of registra or get a family member/friend to read the ceremony and get legally married in a cheap registry office. Pick your own flowers or have dried flowers.

Decide what's important to you, pick 3 things you won't scrimp on and then dedicate your small budget to that. Then make or source second hand everything else. If you put in the work you can keep it super cheap. Don't get pulled into the wedding factory machine. We were lucky that our venue only charged for accommodation for guests instead of venue fee. Get everyone to give you money instead of gifts. Ask people to pay for one thing, aunties pay for shoes, nanna pay for hair, etc. Keep wedding guest list as small as possible. Do a buffet instead of sit down meal. Keep it fun and relaxed.

Also, when you book things most only want a deposit, giving you a year or so to save up the balance.

I decided 4 weeks ago I was getting married October this year, most things are booked now. I'm super relaxed. Just cut out the crap and do what you want to do. It just so happened I wanted to get married in a field in the autumn.
REMEMBER it's just a big party with you in a white dress letting everyone know how much you love your man. That's what a wedding is. Celebrate the love rather than impressing the guest list. We were brutal on the guest list, only inviting people we want there. No kids because we don't have any and want everyone to stay and dance. Every couple is different. If you have expensive tastes but really can't afford expensive things then you're going to have to put the work in. There are a thousand options. Good luck xx

I had same problem with my wedding budget. I've managed all within £3000 hut I have to admit it was a challenge! If you looking for a photographer, I highly recommend Zak (www.epicmoments.co.uk) He photographed my sister wedding on the budget too. Becky
