My partner was diagnosed with stage 3/4 cancer in 2016. The cancer is progressing. He wants to get married so we have booked at the register office for the legal stuff. I have no money so we have to have a ceremony at home in our small garden. I have no dress and actually no idea where to start.

Firstly I'm very sorry to hear that news but it might be an idea to contact local charity shops and your local buy and sell facebook groups, people are really lovely on those and can provide cheap/free stuff to make your day special xx

Sorry to hear your sad news Rita, I agree with Hannah, charity shops often have beautiful dresses, you could make cookies for bridal favours and you can buy cookie bags really cheap on eBay. My friend just brought a beautiful gown on shpock ( I think it's called) for around £120 .....buck some flowers together and tie ribbon and lace round them for a bouquet......rather than a cake have a desert table and ask guests to bring a cake or desert they can add to the table .....in Poundland they often do nice craft papers .....cut them up and make bunting. .....I'm sure family and friends will help out and I'm sure you will have a lovely day ...good luck

Could you ask close friends and family to help instead of gifts? Allthough all the "stuff" is trivial.. wear a white maxi dress I'm sure you will look gorgeous anyway x

Plenty of dresses in charity shops, flowers from a supermarket (they can make bouquets up in store) you don't need much, as long as the pair of you are there, friends and family normally pull it out the bag on occasions like this.
Best of luck and lots of love xx

Gift of a wedding seem brilliant please contact them they arrange to get together lots of bits and pieces at such short notice for so many weddings. Donating to them is super easy for anyone who would like to as they have a 'donate' button right on their page. Send them a list of the things you need. If you update your post with your dress size perhaps people will be able to offer a dress to you that they have as well. Sending you both love xx
