{"FB":true,"content":"#MEMBERREQUEST - Hi could u please ask your members if they have ever bought their dress from an auction site (not allowed to be specific) I couldn't see one in the bridal shop but looked on an auction site & they had beautiful ones but they were only \u00a340!! I'm wanting to know if the quality & fit is any good because it just seems too good to be true at that price"}

Sometimes you'll be lucky, but you get what you pay for. There's a reason bridal gowns cost a lot-materials and labour cost, if you're getting it for £40, the materials will be cheap, and the labour slavery.

Probably is too good to be true, but for £40 I would risk it if your prepared to potentially lose £40 as I doubt they would refund, if it arrives and it's not what you expected, maybe donate it and look for one in a bridal shop, outlets do designer dresses off the rail for half the price of a bridal shop.

I've not bought my wedding dress from an auction site but have bought my bridesmaids dresses from one and just figured if they're not right I'll just take the loss. At that price it's worth the risk. My bridesmaids dresses were perfect and fantastic quality and I'm so pleased I got them from there as it saved me £100!

I didn't buy my dress but I bought my bridesmaids dresses and they were stunning! We'd seen some in a shop and it was £210 per dress! I found ones identical save for a couple of minor details for £40 per dress and the alterations were £35 for both dresses!

I bought my dress for my 1st marriage off an auction site. It was 50pounds including postage as it was a sample dress in a bridal shop so people had tried it on. It had a very small pen mark on the bottom that i wouldnt have even noticed if they hadnt said. It fitted perfectly around the body as they had advertised measurements and i only had to have an inch taken off the bottom as im small. For £40 if u think its the dress u want then its probably worth getting it anyway even its not right wen it arrives. Good luck and i hope its what you expect!

Take the risk .... I ordered mine off an auction site , paid £89 ... ( I did have a back up dress from a bridal shop ) thought worse case scenario less than £100 waisted if it's rubbish , and I'm so glad I did my dress is beautifull , really well made and made a massive saving on my dress budget

If something seems to good to be true, it probably is.

I know someone who bought their wedding dress off ebay for about £100, she absolutely loved it, really well made and fitted well, only alterations were to the length

If you go for it, make sure you order to measurement, and not your normal dress size! Xx

A bridal shop near me has a section where people donate their awfully made cheap Internet dresses when they come in last minute for help finding a new dress. They have quite a big collection now and use them as a warning to other brides... Having said that if you can afford to lose £40, why not take a risk?

We bought some for £10 for a hen doo party. the pictures looked amazing but the products were nothing like it at all
Hilarious for drinking shenanigans, terrible of it was the real deal.
There are some great places that let customers give photo reviews of what they get, I would never but for real without a photo review

I bought mine off of eBay, ex sample dress and it was amazing quality:) a bit scruffy at the bottom but that had to be brought up for me. obviously only made to a standard size so had to get it tailored to fit still.

I don't think there's ever a guarantee from a shop or auction... I spent £900 on my dress from a bridal shop and the dress was going end of line so had to place the order asap .. over a year ago .. my first fitting was 2 days ago and the dress that arrived was the wrong colour and didn't fit! Another £120 on alterations to make it fit but the colour is still wrong.. and it's too late to do anything now because I get married in 3 weeks! Cost and place don't guarantee you get what you want my love .. but I wish you all the luck in the world. P.s. Inspect the dress as much as you can and if you buy it try and have a backup plan in case it's not perfect xxx

I managed to win my £2000 Pronovias gown, for £40 on eBay. It was 'used' (as used as a gown worn for 12 or so hours is!) but was in perfect condition with just a few stains on the underneath of the train.

The great thing about wedding dresses is whilst there are seasons and years, it doesn't really matter for most of us if our dress is last years' or not! It's just what we love.

I actually spent 3x more on each of the bridesmaid dresses! xx

My cousin did and hers came from China. Think the postage cost more than the actual dress!! It was beautiful. Think my only regret for her was that she should have seen a seamstress and had it altered as it kept slipping down. I think if you can afford to lose some money hen go for it. I'm on a tight budget so couldn't risk it.

I ordered mine from there. It was from China and only cost around £60. I didn't get round to wearing it as we postponed our wedding and now we've rearranged ive changed my mind about the style I want. On most of them you send all your measurements and the one I had fit perfectly and the quality was fab. I only got my mum to do my measurements so not professionally done but it fit like a glove. Hope this helps x

Add a page one here called Wedding planning made simple, lots but off of auction sites and upload the pictures ect so you can see quality! Some are really terrible, some are really bad! There's a site on here called JJs house which is cheap but the reviews are all fab xx

My daughter chose her prom dress from a Chinese seller. It cost £30 and I stressed every day till it arrived. When it did arrive, it was exactly like the picture and looked amazing on. We had to re glue one of the fabric roses on the shoulder strap but that was a minor glitch.
If you can afford to risk losing your £40, give it a go.

I know someone who got there's off a popular auction site and it hasn't cost her much and the quality is fantastic and it's just as puffy and beautiful as mines which I got from a bridal store. As long as you use PayPal you can always claim if it's not good quality, as described etc

I'm getting mine from the famous auction site for £35 can't wait. Many people I know have got their dresses from there too and they are perfect, gorgeous and cheap. Nothing wrong with them at all.

Maybe look into what cover you can get with wedding insurance? The. You may be covered to get a new dress if it's a disaster

I would order is slightly too big and get a seamstress to take it in and make sure it's the perfect fit for you. I've done this with a ballgown and know a friend that did it for bridesmaid dresses and they were all beautiful.

I found a dress I lived-in a charity bridal shop but it needed cleaning and adjusting. I put a pic on a fb wedding page and asked if anyone knew it's name. I was given the designer and dress name, I put it in the search on eBay and found the dress in my size!! Seller was asking £60 or best offer, I got it for £50 plus £6.50 postage from Lithuania and it's perfect!!

I got my dress from China. I am a larger lady so opted for custom made and gave my measurements for it and also the style I wanted had a train and I didn't want that, so asked for no train. I stressed over it for the 3 weeks I had to wait and whether I had foolishly lost £150. But when it arrived it looked so small I'm the package, until I opened it up and it billowed out. With the a frame petticoat it was a perfect fit. Saved me over £750 for a similar dress in a bridal shop. I didn't even care if I ruined it on the day either! No one could tell it was one from China on the day.

Just buy it. For the sake of just £40 it's a gamble that's worth taking in my eyes.
I got my bridesmaids dresses off eBay from a Chinese seller. They arrived with in 2 weeks and cost £27 each including postage and were fabulous. I have heard other people's horror stories but it's a risk that paid off for us

I got my bridesmaids dresses from an auction site. We're stunning and even nicer than the ones I'd found in bridal shops. In my opinion it's worth the risk with £40 and if it's crap you've learnt not to go there x
