{"FB":true,"content":"#MEMBERREQUEST - Should I contact a seamstress now and \"book in\" perhaps guessing when I'll be at the weight I want to be able to get back into it? Or wait till I'm ready? It's a lace hem dress so quite complex to take up\nApparently. The other question is as I have my dress in hand as I bought it off the rail, so how do I go about choosing a veil, hair piece etc? I've narrowed it down to length but that's it, do I go to bridal shops and take my dress?! I'm panicking a little now as literally no clue about these two things"}

Wait until i are ready! I bought mu dress before i had my daughter and put weight on...alterations are costing around £200!! With my veil i bought one recommended by the lady i bought my dress from...it has silver detailing that matches my dress so u could try that if i can imagime urself wearing a particular type chances are it will work perfectly xx

I bought my dress of the rail and I am getting married late August so have booked seamstress in early June. They need time to do it and then you just need to try and maintain your weight!

I'd say book the seamstress you want and get an appointment 8/10 weeks before wedding for first fitting. Also might be cheaper for seamstress to make you a veil!

I'm getting married late August and I have 2 fittings one in July and one in august defiantly book in as they might not be able to get you in

If you book in with a seamstress you can ask if they'd be able to make you a veil to match your dress. You can always go to bridal shops and put on a similar dress to get an idea of how it will look with your dress, I did that and it really helped me decide what I wanted :) x

I took my dress (bought off rail) to a local independent bridal shop to get it altered and tried a veil and headband on with it there. They were more than happy for me to do that.

This is my post! I should mention I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and baby's due early June. Baby brain caused me to miss that crucial detail out

I'm getting married mid September and I've booked in with my local seamstress already. She's booked me into her calendar a month before the wedding to complete all the alterations - she did say it was rare to get someone so early but it means I'll take priority over any other booking that comes in for August (and it's one less thing for me to worry about ) I also bought off the rack and tried on a number of veils at the time so I know roughly what I'm looking for & I'm shopping for something similar (the shop also wrote down the name of the veil so it's easy to view online to see/compare)

Some stores will allow you to bring in your dress to try and accessorise it. That's what I'm doing with mine in a few months. You just have to ask them if they mind I suppose the boutique I spoke to actually suggested I bring my dress in to have an accessory appointment:) xxx

Take a picture of you in your dress into shops and show assistant what your dress is like failing that buy the veil but just make sure they accept returns then you can try them on with dress xx

Thanks everyone she's booked me in for beginning of August she thinks that will leave plenty of time for the alteration, feel much better for doing that. And thanks for the advice re the veil as well

I am getting married on May 28th 2017. I bought my dress off the rack in July 2016.

I was recommended some seamstresses from the Beautique where I purchased my dress. I selected one, and have just been to my seamstress for a consultation so she could provide me with an estimate cost and timeline for the work that needs completing (consultation cost £20).

I have booked in for my fitting late March, and will collect dress have final fitting 2nd week in May.

I have been quoted £165- this includes a sewn in bra/support, pinching of the waist and shoulders, length taken from the bottom, and a steam.

Hope this helps!

I have lost 4 stone since September and deliberately bought a dress 3 sizes too small, luckily I fit it now. I'm planning to lose as much more as I can. I get married end of May and my seamstress said latest apt I can have is mid April. Just ask them it will give you a date to aim for.
