Hi all, my mother in law has offered to pay for my dress (£1,200) which is obviously a lovely gesture. However, I'm worried if I accept, this will offend my own mother or make her feel inadequate as a mother. She wouldn't be able to afford to pay for my dress and I wouldn't want her to spend that amount on me when I know she's struggling at the moment. So I'm not sure what to do! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks x

I think you should accept the gift, it's a really love gesture and will bring your families closer together. And make it known to your mum you realise she doesn't quite have the funds to offer the same. £1,200 is so generous!xx

Accept it because it's such a kind gesture and will make your mother in law feel included in the planning. But ask your mum to help with making decorations or picking cakes and those sort of things, financial contributions are great but someone lending another pair of hands and support is priceless.
