Should I ask her to be a bridesmaid.

I am not sure whether to ask my husband to be's neice to be a bridesmaid or not. I've only met her about 4 times since we been together 3 1/2 years and then been briefly. Not due to distance just divide in the family and my partners brother not regarding him as family due to being adopted. Feel other family members will expect her to be one especially when considering asking second cousin to be a flower girl who we have more to do with.
