Food for guests

Hi everyone, we are having a later ceremony time of 4pm, missing out a wedding breakfast and going straight into the evening reception. I'm wondering if we should serve some canapes or snacks after the ceremony while we have oue photos, as our evening food won't be served until 8pm? My partner thinks people will be fine waiting, but I don't want hungry guests ???????? thank you xx

Hello and congratulations on your wedding ♥️

I am not only a bride to be but I am also a wedding coordinator so have double the excitement with planning not only my own but also my lovely couples weddings.

Personally I would recommend my couples offering canapés even if only a small selection. This does also depend on your venue and if there is the option for guests to buy some nibbles to tie them over until the evening buffet. I would also recommend looking at your evening buffet menu and how substantial it is as to weather it will fill your guests up or if it’s more of a snacking buffet. Another factor to consider is a odd one but are your guests going to big drinkers. If so you might want to make sure their is some food to mop up the alcohol between your ceremony and evening food. Assuming your ceremony is a civil ceremony and only lasting 30 mins max this then leaves your guests with 3.5 hours of drinking time without any food.

With all of that being said, it is your day and up to you what you want to do and your guests are all adults so should be able to make the decision to make sure they eat before coming 😅🙈

Happy planning xx
