Black in May?

My wedding is booked for 25th May and as a bit of a rock chick, pastel colours were never going to be a part of my theme. I feel a black theme and bridesmaid dresses will be far more 'me' but I'm worried that it might be hard to pull off in May. Also, what colours would you put with the black it to compliment it? Again, I'm worried that reds and purples may look a bit wintery. I want to steer clear of the Halloween look. Any pics you have would really help!
