Destination wedding

Hi, we have now postponed our wedding twice and now decided to cancel it all together. We have decided to get married abroad in 2022. Ibiza or Greece are our 2 options. I have no idea where to start. Neither of us have been to Greece but love the look of it whereas ibiza has a special place in our hearts. We only want something small then have a big party when we get back. I know alot of family would love to see us get married but I worry its too expensive for everyone else ( I am forever putting everyone before myself as my other half tells me all the time). Can anyone point me in the right direction, where to start, who to go with etc. Also is it easy organising a wedding abroad? Thr thought of having to organise another wedding after putting so much into our other one drains me hence wanting something small and intimate Thanx

We got married in santorini in 2017. We had been to Greece before, but not to that island. We booked with Ionian Weddings and they were amazing. Literally just do everything for you and have tons of set packages for lots of destinations. All we needed to do was turn up! So easy and the wedding was amazing! Would recommend to anyone x

When I was looking into weddings abroad Spain was a country that isnt recognised over here. We got married in NYC instead. Haha. May have changed but just wanted to let you know. X

If you’ve got the budget for it, I advise getting a wedding planner. We got married in Malta last year and the wedding planner organised everything for us over there and we had no worries once we got there. We ended up with 40 people over there and a big party when we got home. Good Luck x

Santorini is beautiful, we went to our friends wedding there and it was amazing - have a look at Santorini Gem. I adore Ibiza though 💙 and our friends got married on the rooftop at aguas de ibiza I think it's called in Santa Eulalia it was gorgeous x

We got married last year in zante on cameo island, it was beautiful. We booked through perfect weddings abroad. It’s a little daunting not seeing the venues or meeting the wedding planner beforehand but was very easy and I think probably less stressful than organising a big wedding here. I would definitely recommend a wedding abroad. X

If Ibiza has a special place in your hearts I'd go for Ibiza as it will be more special and meaningful for you both as a couple x

We've decided to get married in cyprus next year and are going to book through tui as they do weddings as well, using local wedding planners. We are telling family and friends and its up to them if they want to join us, although we have 15 definite so far 🙂 good luck xx

I think Ibiza you’d have to actually get married here as the service/ceremony in Ibiza is not recognised in UK. I may be wrong but that’s what I’d heard.x

If you get married in Cyprus your wedding is legally recognized as it also is I believe in Malta. I'm not sure about other Greek Islands but that might be something to consider. You'll need to register your marriage at your local registry office on your return of getting married in other European countries but don't need to do this if you get married in Cyprus or Malta
