Hi I'm getting married October next year and I just sorting out my catering and numbers. Am I suppose to pay for food for my photographer, dj and videographer? What has everyone else done?

I would if there going to be with you all day x

It was part of our photographers contract that we had to provide a meal. So we did for her and the videographer. The DJ didn’t come until after the meal so we didn’t for them x

Usually their included with your numbers, especially if you want them there all day

We just asked ours , our photographer didn’t take anything and our video an DJ did take something

We had to provide a meal for our photographer and their assistant. We also offered to provide food for our DJ as he had other roles which meant he was there for most of the day but he was happy with just sandwiches rather than a 3 course meal. Definitely check if it is in your contract as I wasn't aware at first.

I asked mine if they wanted a meal and they did

UKbride Member 13 Oct 2020

Usually it will be in the contract for them. Our venue will offer them different food for the day at a lower cost than the per head for the venue 👍

We asked all of our suppliers if they required a meal none of ours did but it’s best to check with everyone!

I wondered this too. Our meal is £90 per head and was wondering if we needed to pay that for photographers (hopefully have two) it would mean having to take two guests out of the equation to have our photographers. 😕

My photographer required one and my venue included it in the package at no extra cost. Best to check with all suppliers and then with your venue what they can do

Our venue has a restaurant and bar, we will be putting a meal on our room tab for them so they can have a break and food outside of the wedding reception room while we eat

My photographer warned us that some put in there contract they have to have place at table which could go against your numbers if you limited. We don’t need to provide a meal as she said there more than capable of providing there own dinner the same as we would when we go to work ourselves

In the contract for our videographer and photographer it said we must provide a hot meal for them when we had our wedding breakfast (most do dependant on how long they are with you). Our venue said we could set up a tab or give them an allowance in the restaurant.. we just had an extra portion of our wedding breakfast done for them each, it actually worked out well as they got some good food shots without disturbing eating guests. X

I did, as was in the videographers contract. It’s was a bar meal though, away from the actual wedding. Best to check with your suppliers direct

It wasn't in my photographers contract as she had special dietary requirements, however I spoke to my caterers and they were able to accommodate so they provided her a meal. It wasn't in the same room as the wedding breakfast, she was able to sit in peace abd go through some of the photos she already had.

Best advice is to check your contracts and speak to your suppliers.

Its not in our photographer's contract to provide food, but he is a good friend of my other half so we are providing a meal for him x

It was in our contract with the photographers and the evening band to provide a meal and drinks. However, our venue charged these meals/drinks at a lower cost as they did not require a seat at a table, linen and service. Best checking with your suppliers ☺

We didn't have to but told them to order some food from the bar and put it on our tab whilst we were having our wedding breakfast.

As a videographer I always request a meal (nothing fancy, just a plate of food) and it’s usually easier for the caterers to just plate up an extra portion of the main dish than do a separate dish (some venues don’t charge for supplier meals) however, I’d be happy with anything. I always say it’s optional so if it’s a problem or out of budget then I can bring a packed lunch but I just need to know beforehand. It’s a very long day for some suppliers so at my wedding last year I set up a tab so they could order from the bar menu and have a few refreshments throughout the day. I’ve never had a seat where the guests eat, most venues have another room away from the guests where suppliers can relax and have a little break. Just make sure your suppliers do get fed if it’s been agreed and you’ve paid for it as sometimes we get forgotten about and the couple have paid for us to eat! x

It’s in my contract as a photographer but only a main meal. I was once provided a buffet pack up by the bride and groom but when they asked if I don’t like anything I think they got mixed up as the sandwich filling was everything I’d said I didn’t eat 😂😂😂

UKbride Member 13 Oct 2020

It wasn’t in our photographers contract but we said we would include him as he was part of our day by capturing it. But dj? They should have eaten by the time they arrive... at least ours did as he arrived at 5:30 (end of wedding breakfast) then stayed until 1:30am

UKbride Member 13 Oct 2020

I got out of this by having ome of my mates do the photography, he was there any way.

UKbride Member 13 Oct 2020

I always tell my brides and grooms that it is up to them. If they feel they want to provide food then I will always be grateful, but it’s fine if they don’t. I think insisting on a place at a table is very cheeky, but I have been invited to many times. Your suppliers can all look after themselves and should not be upset if you treat them like working adults.

We offered our photographer food but she was bringing her own. It is your choice at the end of the day xx

UKbride Member 14 Oct 2020

When I was a wedding coordinator we used to just charge for a main course for the photographer/videographer etc, we never fed the entertainment though xxx

UKbride Member 14 Oct 2020

The per head charge includes their alcohol etc so you wouldn't need to pay for a whole place usually xxx

Sucked the caterers cock

UKbride Member 16 Oct 2020

Yes you should feed your suppliers. Some of them will be working a 10 hour day. Usually just get them the main course from your wedding breakfast but even if it wasn't in the contract to provide refreshments, it's just a nice thing to do.
