Elopement

Hi our wedding this year has been postponed and we are now considering elopement when things are clearer. Does anyone have any recommendations where we can go just the 2 of us in the UK, thinking Northumberland or Lake District. Thank you ????

Sorry to hear this, same here, so we are now doing it with just our witnesses. Seems to be what a lot of couples have decided to do. Lake district would be a beautiful choice or the Cotswolds is lovely 👰🤵

Tree Top Escape in Devon or Millbrook Estate....cater for elopements and will act as witness if required. Both have websites.

Where debating a small wedding and then a big party later so guests can celebrate we should of been Dec but postponed it as only got engaged New Year’s Day and we had to cancel engagement party etc... thought with no insurance etc you can get decided to wait but now no idea when to do 😬

Don’t forget you will need witnesses so it won’t be just the two of you exactly but I’ve heard a venue in Gretna Green can provide witnesses if you’d rather be as alone as possible

Gretna green. It’s beautiful. We are travelling up there from the south and we were going to elope but we want our parents as well. So still choosing. Gretna green. Speak to Gretna wedding bureau they are lovely xx

Sorry to hear this. We're getting married at Armathwaite Hall, they do small ceremonies too and I think they provide witnesses if necessary. It's a beautiful venue and staff are fab x

If you go to Gretna, they will provide witnesses if needed. They've being doing elopement for years lol.
Alternatively, in Scotland you can get married outdoors as well meaning you could have a small number of people outside with you if you wanted close family there x

Oxleaze Barn is perfect for elopements/small intimate ceremonies!

Hi, I work at the Cumbria Park Hotel and we get a lot of small weddings who will have the ceremony in Gretna and then travel the 20 minutes or so to the hotel so they are not surrounded by lots of other wedding parties. Feel free to drop me an email on [email protected] if you would like more information, or even if you have any questions on the area, happy to help 🙂 Wendy

We are getting married at ellingham hall in Northumberland. It’s won loads of awards since we booked it, the staff are amazing and it’s a beautiful place. However due to circumstances with this virus we have rescheduled from August this year to July next year. They couldn’t have been more helpful. The venue is amazing. On the website you can do a virtual tour. Would be beautiful for you both to have your own little break away too Xx

Lots of places similar might be able to accommodate a small wedding this year as most people have postponed. Eshott hall in Northumberland is also lovely 😊 you can have my old date of August bank Hol weekend if it hasn’t gone!! X
