Wedding Planner

Should I hire a wedding planner? Pros and cons please? Would you do it? Is it beneficial?

I did it all myself saved so much money means you can go at your own pace and have things your way without fear that it doesnt go right xx

My venue came with a planner, is great when they listen to you.. Not so great 3 weeks before your wedding, you make a dietary change to the menu, which they ignore... 😂 But sa rules we had to have a planner, even though we did everything ourselves...

Same as Margaret Noble doing it myself, did a spreadsheet listed everything I wanted, needed, and just marked it off Tec, also put all dates in calendar for payments, Banns, meetings Tec, much more fun and in control and more money to spend on wedding bits. X

Depends if comes with venue or not as that doesn’t mean qualified or planning whole wedding. That’s just means hospitality venue table organising etc... completely different levels of wedding planning. I’m qualified in planning weddings and events. Plus worked at venues to so different places run differently. Wedding venue just organising bits at venue not the structure, co-ordination or etc timings & getting discounts etc with suppliers on your behalf. Depends if your organise person, have any knowledge of reputable suppliers etc as it takes the stress off your shoulders. Hope that helps. xx

I did it myself. Used a planner app so kept track of all costs and dates

I personally would not. My friend had one and all she did was add more and more with a big cost at the end and she never even set up everything like my friend had asked and forgot all about half the stuff she was meant to set out. I did my wedsing myself and although a bit more stress initially, was so worth it in the end. That is just my experience though, may be lots of positive feedback from other planners.

It’s completely a personal choice! I was previously an event manager before I moved into project management as my job, so I have experience in organising things like this. Our venue is a DIY venue so we have hired a wedding planner just for on the day management. I know how stressful managing an event can be, and I didn’t want to have that on my wedding day. I’m organising everything and handing over before the wedding. I’ve booked all my suppliers and sorted everything, she will just be a little fairy godmother that will look after everything on the day, and if a problem arises, then she’ll sort it! Look into the packages that they offer, and decide how comfortable you feel organising suppliers etc! Do what works for you x

Find a friend or two that are very good at organising stuff and work together. I found that worked so well for me. They know your style and loves better than anyone else and a planner will just add alot more money and stress

I've done it all myself using spreadsheets, a notebook and a folder to keep receipts, invoices and other paperwork in ☺️

I personally would say it's a waste of money. We had one included with our venue and I dont think we even used her once lol. It was so much fun planning the wedding ourselves, makes it more meaningful once the day arrives. X

I did it myself. Was so overwhelmed at 1st but make a list of suppliers/things you want etc and then work out what is the most time sensitive, I.e. i know photographers get booked up quickly so once the date and venue was confirmed I start researching and getting quotes for photographers etc. X
