19 year old needing advice for wedding

So me and my partner want to get married but we are still young. Only 19 but we’ve been dating for five years and have a daughter. We want a lovely day but don’t have a lot of money At the moment but we also would like to get married in the next two years but we don’t have a lot of people that would want to attend. Any advice?

You are still young if you would love a lovely day you can save up. I know that’s hard when you have kids I have two been engaged 8 years and only thinking about getting married now. I’ll be 25 when I get married I think that’s young. I’ve been with my other half for 11 years. My advice would be take it slow enjoy your daughter together you have loads of time.

It really doesn't need to cost much. Do you go to church? I do and the church was free. There are some lovely halls or community centres you can hire and either do a buffet or something like a pig roast and salads. Decorations are very cheap online. I think it's nice you want to get married even if you are young.

I am 19 also and me and my partner are getting married. We were meant to get married last week but we changed it to later in the year. We found that if you look further away than where you live you can get cheaper deals. We are actually travelling to Gretna green with 40 of our closest friends and family and making a weekend trip of it as well. If you want to Pm me I can give you the contact details for the company we used to book our package deal which was just over £4000 and it included everything except suits and dresses and table decorations.

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Me and my partner travelled alone to Gretna green. It was amazing and the best decision we ever made and very affordable. We were due to have a reception when we returned to celebrate with everyone which can be as cheap as you make it. Good luck xx

There are definitely things you can do to save money I got my dress in your monsoon sale for 150 pounds, flower girls dresses were 10 each from a shop that was shutting down.. most importantly its.your day you do what you want x

Weddings can be as cheap or expensive as you make them. If you dont want to spend much then go to a registry office and just go for a meal after, or hire a village hall and do everything yourself. If you want something like a nice hotel and all the extras etc then you'll have to save up. X

Number one money saving thing is to get married in r
Registry office i paid £250 for the legal stuff.

Then we just had a bit party a different day. Don't bother with the sit down meal.

Find a venue that is all inclusive, I found a place that did everything, my mum decorated it, my aunt make the cake and my best friend did favours

But remember all that matters is you and your partner, being together and showing love for each other.

If you attend church they tend to do it for a small fee or free. If you plan on getting married in two years then start going when lock down is over. Registrar offices can be really nice as well. It doesnt have to be your local town one. Local city ones can be beautiful places in historical buildings. Also you can look at venues who will do it all in one place. Another tip is to look on groupon. A lot of venues have discounts on there. Also if you have any talented friends and family then see if they can supply something to your day as a present. Suits and dresses you can wait til Jan Sales and some stores do a preloved section as well. Also some wedding shops do sale range or closing down stores. Also look on esty as alot of small businesses on there will help you out. It comes down to really want you want for your day, but their is always a way to do it.

I’m only 21 and I was supposed to get married August 29th 2020 but have had to postpone until May 2021, we are getting married at our local registry office which has only cost us £300 my dress I got off eBay for £60 and you would think it could hundreds from an actual dress shop we have hired out local cricket club for free for the reception you can get a lot of things cheap and still have an amazing day x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

My daughter is having a registry office wedding and we are hosting the reception at home. x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Think of the reason why you are getting married, and not to put on a show for one day. We married at registry office, my dress from sale rail at wedding dress shop. Would have been back to ours for reception but friends of in laws put on lunch reception as wedding gift and in laws paid for evening meal as a gift. Most of all enjoy your special day as goes so quick.

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

The more people you invite, the more it will cost you, so just have the essential people there if you want to keep costs down

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Shop around, keep things low key and personal it about you and your partner nothing else matters

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Do whatever you want that will make you happy. I got married last month, I'm 23 and so many people were telling me it's too young. We were engaged by the time I was 20, and I was so wound up and frustrated by trying to do everything "right" and making everyone else happy like my mum and my Nan, and his dad and his sister's that about a month before hand I literally said fuck it and did what the hell I wanted for the last month. I don't have regrets about it, but I would definitely say do what makes you happy, not everyone else xx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

We're doing a cute registry office ceremony (cost about £327 including 2 certificates), bought my dress for £50 from facebook marketplace; it's a cute, simple A-line dress. The Rona caused us to cancel our reception venue so we've decided when we're in the clear to put a couple bills behind a pub bar and relax!

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Where are you based? Some deals are good when they incorporate stuff so you know how much your spending and not forgetting anything

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I didn’t get married young but I did meet my husband when we were both 20. Been together 11 years nearly. Do what you want as the most important is you and your little family. A lovely day doesn’t mean spending loads. Villages halls etc are some of the best weddings I’ve been to, x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I’m 21 got married November 2019 past, have been with my husband 8 years and we have a daughter together, best advice I have is to save money where you can, we did our own favours sourced things on eBay shopped around for prices and saved up for what we wanted xx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Weddings can be as big or as small as you want and cost alot or a little... have what you want and it will still be special x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Me and my oh have been together ten years and have only just booked ours for November this year I think it’s all down to you both if you feel the time is right then go for it weddings can be done cheaply and if you have close relatives on either side ask for help instead of a wedding gift my future brother in law is doing our catering as our wedding gift my mum got my tiara and cake topper it’s a case of shop around and ask for help even if it means going to a registry office just you 2 then so be it as long as your both happy that’s all that matters so what’s right for u xxxx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

We are having a small wedding with 20 guests. Wedding reception is at a lovely registry office (it's an old mansion) and then having a sit down meal at a local restaurant, we have out own private room which they haven't charged extra for and we can decorate it how we want 😊. We are having wedding cars, photography and wedding cake, these I found in Facebook by asking for recommendations.

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

A wedding doesn't have to cost the earth and as I found out to my husband's credit, a beautiful wedding day involves having people who you love, the actual marriage, personal touches and food and drink. Although we paid for our guests to have food and drink, they would have been happy to pay for themselves as I am happy to pay at my brother's wedding and my friend's wedding that I will be attending both later this year. Many years ago with an ex partner, he and I went out for a quick bite to eat before we went to a film. Midway through our meal, a group of guests came in all smartly dressed, and shortly after them, a bride and groom, this was their wedding reception. People were happy and fed and it was beautiful. Your day really is your day, don't bother what anyone says and don't throw money at it to think that will make it better. Love wins always.

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I would think about how much money you can spare each week, then figure out how much you'll have saved by the time your chosen date has arrived, that way you create a budget you know you can afford.

The size of your wedding or guestlist doesn't matter, the day is about your marriage x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Do it abroad, much cheaper and less stressful apparently x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I married my husband when I was 19 because age had nothing to do with it, he's the love of my life, father of my children and I'm committed to him and him only and that's what marriage is, it doesn't change your relationship it just solidifies you, our wedding didn't cost the earth, beautiful wedding dress off ebay cost me £85 and a further £40 in alterations, registry office ceremony, made most of the decoration, invites ect, it's what you and your partner want to make it hun, good luck and long love xx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Registrar office cheaper in the week than weekends
You can just have you 2 us 2 witnesses before 10 it called early bird some places do that then have a party later at the weekend and wear you dress to that too
Less stressful I wanted that but partner want sat with guest 25 that cost 400 plus 35? Each for bands

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Weddings can suit any budget so don't be discouraged! You can have an amazing day and still have a small wedding. So, if you've got enough people for a small wedding then I say plan an amazing small wedding, look at the tips and tricks to suit your budget and have an amazing day! If you want to get married then go for it! I'm sure you'll have an amazing time! X

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

We had a lovely wedding last june that was really cheap. We married in the registry office and then went to the pub for a meal after. Only had very close family there. It was perfect day for us. We don't have alot of money so didn't want to spend a fortune on a big wedding. We've been together 9 years.

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

We are due to get married on 26th sept 2020 and theres only 13 of us ..6 are kids and ours hasnt been very expensive xx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I got engaged last year when I was 20, we're not getting married until 2024 as I need to finish university and we'd like to get a house first, but it gives us plenty of time to save and get the vendors we want in advance. Definitely do your research but the less people you have the cheaper your wedding will be! Do what you and your partner wish to do to celebrate your love, you don't have to please everyone

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I've organised and paid for my wedding for less that 2000 quid. Registry office reception venue everything you need including food.. Suits dresses the lot.. For over 300 people all together.. It can be done depends what you want xx

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Maybe a village hall scenario and a Buffett

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

Chances are that many things organised over the next year or two will likely get cancelled as lockdowns are lifted and dropped periodically to flatten each new wave so if you don’t want to risk losing money in deposits etc I would wait until we are well through this pandemic 😊

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I would start saving for now and then look at your finances in a year and see what you can afford for what you have saved. You don't need to spend a lot or have a big flashy wedding to get married, but I would start saving first and then have a look x

UKbride Member 27 Apr 2020

I would elope if I was to do it again. Just a special day for your family. Big wedding are so stressful. You could always have a party at a later date if your decided that 🙂

UKbride Member 28 Apr 2020

Hire a small marquee and a field, ask guests to bring home made jams and make it a competition as well as serving with an afternoon tea with scones and cakes. Make people painted stones as favours and hang fairy lights for the evening. It will be lovely and won't cost the earth. Buy your own drinks or ask guests to bring their own and keep in troughs filled with ice. You can make really beautiful decorations for not much and then you just need to worry about the dress and the registry office. Good luck xxx

UKbride Member 28 Apr 2020

You'd be amazed ay how much you can save when you really want something, I know it's easier to say when I don't yet have kids, but there are ways and means to having a really good day.
I.e saving tips like create a 4/5 hour playlist rather than having a dj.
There are some really good fabric shops/second hand fabric stores etc that would help with like making bows or tulle to decorate tables and chairs etc.
I made somewhere around 6-10 dream catchers to match my colour theme that really pulled the room together.
I also got done very cheap white pvc trellis that I decorated with pictures of not just me she my partner but is with friends and family we'd invited to the ceremony.
I luckily already had all the equipment to make a balloon arch.
But you'd be amazed at what you can learn to make.
I learnt to make bath bombs which we have as favours as well as placemats which doubled as place names because me and a friend hand stitched them with names.
You can do anything you put your mind to.
I'm happy to try and help with anything I can if you would like any tutorials on anything

There are loads of ways to save money on your wedding. We are an older couple and don't need all the bells and whistles. Some things you can save money on and guests won't even notice.
I'm making my own cake, do you have a friend or relative to help with that? If you go for a naked cake, they are so much easier to make.
We are using our own car, do you know someone who could do that?
Look on the internet for clothing and shoes.
My brother is going to be my photographer, he enjoys photography, and he's quite good. I want some nice photos to remember the day, but I don't need a great big book full to just throw in the back of a cupboard!
My table centres are big bowls of sweets, that's me! But it saves on flowers.
Doing your own makeup and hair could save quite a lot. There are tutorials on the internet, practice!
If you say that you don't know many people who would come, then a cosy intermate wedding means that you save money on guests and have time to sit and spend a little time with everyone there.
We are having 25 people at our wedding and one large square table where we can all sit together and see and talk to everyone.
It means that if you do manage to save some money on the basics, you could maybe spend a bit on something special to put you personality in to arrangements.
My wedding is costing £6000.
Hope this helps x

Food was 250.00 for the 8 of us

It wasn't the wedding I had planned as that was cancelled 3 days before we were due to get married because of medical emergency
M S do some lovely cakes

wed2BE most of their dresses are under £599
You could do your own catering order sandwiches from the super market or just go to a nice pub ring around and ask if you can pre order the food but keep a list of who is having what as people change their minds we can do a pre order of 35/40 people at work so ask around
Remember the day is about you and your husband
Xxx😍😍
