Wedding package

Hi all, I was hoping for some advice. We are trying to keep costs down and so wondering if you think it's better to get a wedding package or just book the place and find all the extras yourself? TIA xx

We booked a smaller package and added on the things that we needed. Saved us a lot in the long run and it feels a lot more personal to us. 🥰

We have a wedding package with our venue everything in 1 place so no stress for us

Just shop around for a package that suits you don't just go for one because it looks good value if your gonna have to make loads of changes

Find all the extras yourself and then if don’t get used you can sell them after. That’s my plans 🤭

We found a package deal was best for us. But shop around. We had other suppliers for extra fun things. But for the main bit, it worked out cheaper as a package.

We found that the venue we liked only did a package deal. Worked out well for us, all in one place so no need for wedding cars and other stuff :)

Wedding packages have worked out cheaper at the places we have seen , there are a few where you can add/ take things out , for example we opted for centrepieces with flowers rather than balloons but it was the same price. You could do some bits yourself and donate/sell bits you don’t use

We will have over 200 people with all day invites so there was no way we could do a sit down meal at £55 a head! Their finger buffet option was £18 a head too! I’ve found a caterer that will do pie, mash and peas/curry with all trimmings at £10-£14 a head and then a buffet in the evening of burgers/bacon rolls etc for £3.50 a head..worked out so much cheaper than having a package x

We did a package deal (ceremony, venue, evening reception space, DJ, buffet, drinks, wedding planner and celebrants) for £2760 and it meant 18 months of no stress and then they did most of the leg work which was even better. But there hiccups on the day - buffet which was a 3rd party ran 40 mins late and DJ was 2 hours late due to non booking and a car break down and my extra decorations not put out like asked. But overall for peace of mind, a package deal was great xx

I certainly saved getting a package.

If you have large numbers though I advise against a package deal. Theres often offers on groupon etc too so keep your eyes open!

We've gone for an evening wedding. Ceremony at 6 followed by buffet then DJ all in one place package was 3000 for 100 day guests plus you can add extra evening guests.

Explored both options and concluded it wasnt going to be any cheaper to do it ourselves! Often possible to negotiate on package prices.

Mixture of both... my venue wanted £400 for chair covers in package, but i found a company that would do them, and centrepieces etc for £350 xx

What do u class as a package. I ask as some places do packages that include the wedding other places dont as they dont have the license but do have have a wedding breakfast and evening do package.

UKbride Member 4 Mar 2020

Technically doing everything yourself is cheaper, as you are in charge of every price for every item.
However dont forget that your own time is worth money as well. If you can safe yourself £1000 thats great, but if it took you 200 hours to plan everything you essentially did it for below minimum wage and maybe your time could have been used more effectively.

I had a wedding package and a wonderful wedding planner at the venue so there was no stress well worth it 😀

I’m getting a package and it’s so less stressful. Especially as our wedding planner is amazing 😍

Thanks everyone 😊

Our package includes everything from cars, photographer, flowers etc and has taken all the stress away from us trying to organise it ourselves. There's no way we could have afforded what we're getting by trying to do it ourselves. It wasn't the cheapest but it's definitely saved us money so I'd say it's worth doing your research and shopping around. Good luck x

You can usually negotiate on the package deals too. Just because the venue's website or literature days £xxxx for package 1 and £yyyy for package 2 doesn't mean you can't negotiate your own package. This is what we did and we save about £1300 on the package deal and got a package that was tailored to us.

Package took all thr stress away they did everything at the venue it was really nice couple of tiny hiccups but venue sorted it
