I am getting married this July, we are doing a last minute package and are having a twilight wedding. I only really want a photographer for a couple of hours during the ceremony but everyone seems so expensive as will do 4/5 hours or whole day slots. Does anyone have any suggestions, do I just not have a photographer and take photos ourselves?
Look for a student or hobby photographer, theyll do it cheap or for experience
Do you have any colleges or universities around you? Photography students may be interested for a small fee and it bulks up their portfolio
There are a few who do deals for just ceremony and photos straight after, I was lucky to find one who Is doing just our ceremony and the professional photos straight afterwards for 150
KF Photography try these guys! Xx
I advertised on my local selling pages and I’ve got someone for 4 hours £295 which I think is really good as most people charge £1000 could be worth asking around or if any friends or friends of friends do it as a hobby
My photographer only did a couple of hours, she got about 200 photos and sent them to us on a pendrive cost us £200 I think. Others wanted double that. She's in the lake district but may be worth seeing if she will travel ? Tina Luke photography
Where are you based? We offer smaller bespoke collections and bring a full lighting setup, so all your evening photos are perfect GnBri Photography
I'm a hobby photographer and I'm shooting for a couple of hours for a couple near me for £100......as long as you are realistic about what your going to receive it's a good idea to post on selling pages etc . But £1000 wedding photographers are that much for a reason, it's their business and they have to earn a living from it.
Try mine Guy Milnes Photography. He charged me £100 per hour. I'm doing 5 hrs. Hes very flexible with his packages
Karlsphotographycentre.com doing mine tailors your package to your budget and he's lovely
But a bid on bid vine ( google to get website ) with those specifications . It’s quite good at finding people willing to do what you need . I found my photographer and make up artist that way .
It may seem a lot but will be worth it, i know people who havent paid out on the photos and been disappointed later on x
Don't ask for wedding photography. Ask what their hourly rate is as a general photographer because normally wedding packages are about 6 hours and then the price exaggerated because it had the word wedding in it lol
Please remember twilight weddings can have the most difficult light to work with so its definately worth investing in an experienced photographer who can cope with any lighting situation. Is it a weekend you are getting married? Whilst it may only be a few hours to you if its a weekend it means they can't book a full day elsewhere so many won't offer a reduced package for a high season weekend x
Depending on where you are I may be able to help xx
Big day productions
We had a very budget wedding but the one thing we didn't scrimp on was our photographer as these are photos that will last for generations to come. As someone said above a twligh t wedding has very difficult lighting so a good photographer would need extra equipment and experience photographing in that lighting and if it's high season on a weekend/bank holiday a few hours for you means that photographer is losing out on a full day shoot somewhere else.
Saying that if you are on a tight photography students are a good shout but bare in mind they are students and still building experience and knowledge so their skills will unlikely to be the same as an experienced exclusive wedding photographer
I have found a photographer for £200 who it for the ceremony only. From bride/groom arriving to group photos after. I looked in a site called poptopuk xxx
I used a search engine called Bidvine. You enter what you want ie wedding photographer for 3hrs and state date and place. We got 3 photographers who were interested in our job. He took us for a free photo shoot to show us what he could do. Is costing £350 for 3.5hrs
Ask your guests to download an app (like wedpics) and then they can all take pics and upload them to the app and you'll have thousands to choose from. You'll be amazed
Have a look on poptop you put in the date's and photographers give you quotes so far mine have ranged from 200 to 600 I'm also having an evening ceremony in August
We had a very small wedding and I only wanted a photographer for the ceremony and to take a few afterwards in the grounds of our registry office, I think it cost around £200 and we got all images on a usb stick. At the reception I had my camera on a tripod and guests were invited to take photos on it throughout evening X
A low budget photographer combined with low lighting could be the recipe for disaster. Be careful and remember what you have left after the day. The photographs!!!
Shoot it yourself. Look them up online, bright yellow website! You will not regret it promise!
We have a very limited budget due to only having 3 months to plan, so one of my friends is taking ours. He isn’t a professional, but he loves taking photos and I know he will do a lovely job. 😊
My mum didn’t have a photographer either, the guests took photos if they wanted to (and we really did want to! 😂), and they turned out beautiful. Amazing what people with modern phones can do.
Night time photography can be very difficult and would usually need longer exposures times so not really suitable for photographing people. I doubt you will get clear images. You may need to rethink this.
Hi lovely, not sure where you’re based but I am a wedding photographer and if I’m not too far away from you I may be able to help.
I’m planning my wedding for June and understand the struggles of trying to book a wedding on a budget!
Hope everything else is going well!
(I’m based in Cardiff)
Please remember you will get what you pay for. Twilight photography is very difficult even for some experienced photographers so as long as you're realistic about what you're getting you'll be fine. Also check they have insurance in place - a lot of people fail to check this and it's really nessecary. If you get a student to do it - you will get student quality.
Also don't do what some have said about and ask how much 'normal' photography is - my packages actually work out more expensive on an hourly rate than a full day.
There is an amazing app called Wedbox and you can invite all your guests to it so they can share their photos with you! So all your guests become your photographer and its free ;) that's the plan for my wedding next year! Enjoy your big day ❤
Always get a professional. It I worth it honestly. Even if they are new to the wedding scene. I’ve photographed a wedding for £400 before, so there will be people out there that will do it for less. X
Really difficult question !!
I do understand your position - but!
I’m a full time professional photographer- I’m not sure what day if the week your wedding is - but I would still need to make a living 😬 there are not many people who would be able to survive on just a couple of hours work a day.
Please ensure you choose wisely - the photos are likely to be the only memory you have from your wedding in the future. I get so many enquires about poor wedding photos !
If I can offer any advice please feel free to contact me / good luck x
We paid 350 for about 4 or 5 hours. That including her editing all photos and putting them on a stick. I think there were 140 photos on the stick
Buy disposable cameras, your guests will take pics normally missed by photographer at your reception, however you might need a photographer for the ceremony bits. Choose wisely,
Michael Mills great photographer depending on location if he can help out
Our photographer does 2 hours for £300 and we got an amazing engagement shoot for free!
Be careful. With photography you really get what you pay for, and lots of people have been caught out by cheap photographers
I would also caution against getting a guest to do it. It can sometimes work and be lovely, but it means they don't get to relax as much
Considering you are having your wedding at twilight, I would go for a professional. The lighting can be tricky at that time of day.
