Ideas for hen do

I can't decide where to go for a hen do. My friends are pushing for me to do an overnight stay somewhere in the uk. But I'm really not fussed. A night out in city centre would do me.

For my friend’s hen we hired the farmhouse at ramside hall in Durham - we just ordered a load of food from Asda & did silly games etc. On the Saturday we spent time in the spa & then did a themed fancy dress on the Saturday night. It was brilliant!

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I live near Cambridge so am thinking of going punting (in the summer!!) with strawberries & wine, followed by a cocktail bar then meal 😋

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I didn’t want to stay anywhere overnight i don’t feel comfortable with it. My maid of honour has arrange for us to do ladies day at our local race course then a meal and head into town after. Xx

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

How about a fun, themed hen dance party to get you in the mood before you hit the town!? Check us out at

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Karaoke. Fun for all.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Not mine, but I was Maid of Honour and we didn't want to stay over so I organised a coach to take us to liverpool. There was enough of us that it only cost 20 quid each. Went about 10.30 I think, and came back about 8pm.

We booked an evening, with meal at Brighton dog track, and then went for a drink in my local with mum in law, sis in law and my mother. I wanted to do something different, that tailored to everyone's bank accounts. We all had fun and no one overspent/drank to much.

It’s your hen do & your memories so do whatever you’d like to do - that’s what I’ll be doing when it comes to it 😊 games night, night out, food & cocktails xxx

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

For my friends hen we are doing a pool party house for 2 nights, 1st night pool party (obvs) then 2nd night in Leeds with a cocktail class then afternoon tea the next day ☺️

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I’m doing a ‘celebrations cottage’ 🥰

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

U do wat u want to do for your hen night ur night ur hen do dont be pressurized into anything

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

There’s plenty of things to do without staying overnight, I live near Cardiff so did an escape rooms activity which was super fun and a spa day with afternoon tea, we all had a massage and then played games during the afternoon tea, the day would’ve finished at 6 but we all decided to go to a restaurant

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Were going to inflata nation then meal the of out for night

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I went for 2 hen parties to please different friends and family.
Had a ladies night for fun and an afternoon tea for the shy ladies ;)
I would not do an overnight one either. Think it puts pressure on friends and family to spend more money than they should have to.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

Do exactly what you want. If they want a night away let them do it on their own time.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I wasnt too fussed about a crazy hen do. My ladies took me to Dublin and it was amazing. We all stayed together in an apartment and it was so chilled we had the best time. Memories I'll certainly never forget and wish I could do it all again

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I've hired a place that sleeps 20 with a hot tub and we are just going to chill and play silly games :) x

I went to one in Newcastle, fantastic weekend. My fiancé has been to 2 stags in Liverpool as well and he said it’s brilliant for a weekend away too 😄 if you really don’t want to then just tell your mates that, but if you’re tempted but worried that it’ll just be a hassle...trust me it won’t be. We live in Northern Ireland so we had flights to put in for and the whole trip plus staying with mates in apartments was a great laugh!

*edit* if you fancy something different come across to Ireland! Galway is brilliant for music and pubs, also Kilkenny is a great spot for a weekend. Avoid Dublin though, it’s a great city don’t get me wrong but expensive.

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

My parents live in a huge villa in Spain so I’m invading that for my hen weekend with all my hens! Spa day at the local spa hotel to start and then two days of absolute carnage...
Wooooooo! 😂

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

I’m doing the crystal maze, Alcatraz and then karaoke 🎤

UKbride Member 28 Jan 2020

My dad paid for myself, my sister, my long standing friend and her mum (my mum passed away in 1997) for a spa evening and meal at Ragdale Hall. I didn't want a huge bender in town, just to feel pampered for the evening. It was wonderful.

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

I’m going to an ABBA tribute night at a hotel (meal included) - nice to get everyone fed and dancing in the same place and a place to crash if budgets allow. We’re having a spa and afternoon tea day the next day at the hotel 😆👍🏻

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

Looking forward to spending it with you guys Leanne Shelley can’t thank you both enough for all you’ve done xx

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

I couldn't think of anything worse than a drunken night... Or men with tops off and Willie's out!! 😂🤣 I'm someone who can't drink a lot and generally don't drink without my partner around who knows me best. So I'm hoping for the likes of afternoon tea, crafting, or an activity day!!

UKbride Member 29 Jan 2020

I had 2... Weekend in Brighton, then a smaller gathering in a local historic theatre-cinema-pub-music venue (amazing place with amazing history - Mirth, Marvel and Maud, check it out if your ever in Walthamstow BTW) for those who couldn't make it to the weekender due to work/kids etc

UKbride Member 30 Jan 2020

Do what you want. It's your hen do. Night's out aren't really my thing so my hens made sure they done something I'd actually like. They hired a murder mystery group at a cottage we stayed in for the weekend. It was amazing, but that's my thing. It's your hen do. If you don't want to stay away somewhere, and would prefer a night out don't be pushed into it just because it's what your friends want. They need to be making sure it's fun for you and making sure you have a great time, not doing something you're not really wanting to do.
Unless you're tempted, then just relax and let them plan and you just go along. It is nice having people come together to do something for you, involving and incorporating things you love and enjoy.

For my local hen do we rented the local river boat which has a bar and music and did a boat ride. It was four hours a it didn’t get a bit messy and I was surprised with a stripper but it was fun. Everyone in one place. Brilliant atmosphere x
