We had a budget......went out the window. Shit gets expensive when you book nearly 3 yrs in advance. Stay strick and don't get carried away like I have if you wana stick to your budget lol

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We only went slightly over

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

As low as could saved in lots places still had our dream wedding xx

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We set our budget at the beginning with what we had. We were lucky we have some money from our parents and we added on what we could afford to save. We have gone a little over, but we splurged more than planned on our honeymoon to get what we wanted. And my dress was the most expensive in the shop 😂 weve hired everything and paid everyone to do stuff for us, so if you want to do it on a strict budget, making stuff yourself and getting things second hand is the way forward. I see lots of good deals on facebook market place all the time

Went way over budget 🙈

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Went over by about £13k 😂😂 it was absolutely the best day ever though and totally worth it. The problem was having so long to plan, I kept finding more things that I wanted. My mom was hilarious too, at my venue dressing appointment she was saying “ooh yeah that’s nice, why don’t you have that too” so glad she came with me because the things I did have made it even more magical.

Dan Blakey see I'm not the only one over budget 😂

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We went about two thousand over! Which we’re fine with. Allow some wiggle room x

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

There are so many hidden costs that you don’t think about so take time and look into everything properly don’t rush your decisions! I changed my mind on centrepieces about 4 times! Get the big stuff done first! Forget small things like favours ect.. you won’t miss them! We forgot about having a budget and just made sure not to get carried away! We picked three things we didn’t want to scrimp on (band, food & venue). It all depends on what kind of day you want.

We've set a budget and so far I seem to be sticking to it. However my wedding isn't until next year so that could all change 🤣

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Way over budget 😂🙈 but had the wedding of my dreams x

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We stuck to ours. We wanted to get it all in for under 10k and we did it for £7500 including honeymoon x

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We haven’t set a budget, we’re just trying to keep each part as inexpensive as possible. It’s still adding up but we’re trying to be mindful!

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We spent £500 on our wedding and £3k on the honeymoon 😂😂 xx

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We went over by about £500 but our budget was 3k so we kinda set ourselves thin to begin with lol

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We didn't really set a budget, but went over what we thought we could do it for. But we had my dream wedding.
Just as an example of what happened ..... we set a budget for the rings, but mine alone cost more than the budget for both. Oops. But it does match my Disney princess engagement ring. Lol.
Have a lovely day. xx

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We went over due to unexpected expenses. Really do your homework!

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We set £12k but came to £13.5k

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Our budget was £5,000 and we've spent £5,138 but my h2b fell in love with a suit just outside the budgeted amount and hey, if I can splurge on my dress - he can do same for his suit! 🤣

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We have just made our budget now that the venue is all booked... the venue includes a lot so it's a bulk of the price. We have added a little bit extra wiggle room in our budget just for any extras we mighy have forgotten so I don't think we will go over it xx

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We came in under budget

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We set our budget and were really good until the last month! We had saved money by planning to do a lot ourselves. We had a 3 year engagement so had plenty of time to do everything. Problem was time ran away with us, and we ended up buying some bits due to running out of time... We went over by about £1000.

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We didnt set a budget but including our honeymoon it all came under £5k

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We have set a budget of £20k and refuse to go over ..... yeh rite !!!!!!

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We set our budget and managed to keep most of it in budget. Other things we didn’t think of popped up and we’ve now had to go over. The way I view it though is what our total wedding is now costing us is what we got quoted for some of the venues we looked at. Stick to it as much as possible if you’re doing a budget, if you want certain things/ or costs pop up you may have to revaluate it. It’s your and your partners day, main thing is that you have the day the way you want it to go.

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Not set a budget yet. I want to get the venue and legal stuff sorted first then set one

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Went way over, but was such a great day so it was 100% worth it & wouldn't have had it any other way x

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

I never had a budget we have been paying monthly for our venue and then as I have the money I will spend it on the things we need. Had a idea of how much we was spending on dresses and suits and that but didnt set a specific amount

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

We’ve gone wayyy over😂😩

UKbride Member 9 Jan 2020

Set a £10k budget and we currently nearly double that! Still got 7 more months until our big day
We will have 21 months of planning between engagement and wedding day and I feel this hasn’t helped as I keep seeing things I like and feel I “have” to have as “you only do it once” xx

Don’t want to sound naive/ignorant but what are the hidden expenses people are saying about? I haven’t come across anything yet and my wedding is in June x

UKbride Member 12 Jan 2020

We didnt really set a budget per say. But we also knew we didnt want to spend a lot where it wasnt necessary. For example I really wanted a church wedding and a classy day reception, so the we booked the church but didnt pay for things like flowers or heating as they werent necessary...but we paid bellringers as I wanted the bells rang. We went for a smaller venue for our day reception so it limited us to only 50 people...so this is where we spent most of the money, having the 3 course meal, the bar and we had it professionally decorated... i had no flowers anywhere in the wedding. Everything was crystals, candles and sashes, the flowers were in my eyes an unnecessary expense...
Our evening reception was held at a local Masonic hall. It was larger and allowed us invite 150 people so we didnt miss anyone out...the bar was cheap for our guests and we provided a disco, a photobooth and a huge buffet.... we decorated this venue ourselves.
We paid things off by paying little and often so we didnt have a huge bill at the end of it...everything was paid for... x
