Winter Wedding

I have just booked a winter wedding for next year in a castle! It will be in December, 2 weeks before Christmas! Does anybody have any suggestions for me from colour schemes and themes to timing on the day etc. Literally anything for some inspiration would be greatly appreciated?! Please share what you did for your winter wedding? Thanks! x

It might be a thought to check with the castle venue as to whether they will have any of their own festive decorations up at the time. If so, this could save you having to splash out on decorations to fill the whole space, and you could maybe tie in with their colours for extras to make it your own.

My brother and sister in law had a December wedding and they went for chocolate browns and oranges. It was lovely. The venue had Xmas trees up. Might also want to have an early ceremony to ensure it’s still light for outside photos etc 😊

Blues and silvers. Bridemaids could also have a faux fur wrap/shawl xx

UKbride Member 11 Nov 2019

My wedding was 23rd December and I had red and black bridesmaids dresses. Xx

Burnt orange and cream/ ivory and green , sumptuous.
You have to get married in daylight ( not after dusk) and you want a long enough day 1.30 ceremony dinner at 4.30 great atmosphere as it’ll be dark lots of twinkle lights too

Deep, warm red

We were inspired by a trip to Vienna a couple of years before and went with royal blue and gold. Red poinsettia would work as well

We got married 8th December 2017. Went for white flowers and greenery and my florist popped in some winter twists so white winter berries and thistles, groomsmen wore a blue tweed, bridesmaids in navy and we also went along the gold theme. For our favours we made a donation to Cancer research and they supplied us with pins for everyone which we had snowflakes which matched with our stationary. Have the most amazing day! We was lucky to have a smattering of snow on the ground but the most beautiful clear crisp winters day! Wouldn’t change the time of year for a thing! To me it was perfect 💕💕 if you want me to send some pics over PM me xx

Dark green, dark purple or navy all look amazing in winter, as do earth tones such as brown, rust, wine. Silver looks amazing x

We're getting married 12 December 2020.
We're going for navy/dark emerald green. Thistles will be incorporated too 😍 My hubby to be is 1/2 Scottish so we're having hints of tartan and our colour scheme is based around that ☺️🎄

We got married in a castle on 22.12 last year! Went navy and plum for colours. Castle had trees and wreathes up everywhere. We did hundreds of candles, winter wreathes with candles in vases in the middle on tables. Got all the welcome signs etc designed in navy with a silhouette of castle on the bottom. Had hot choc bar, a piper and Father Christmas in a little nook of the castle which we made into a grotto to give presents to kids. Carol singers were our welcome singers and had mulled wine as reception drinks. Loved every minute of our winter wedding! xx

I got married a couple weeks ago and avoided anything that could be considered "autumn colours" or to do with Halloween. If it's right before Christmas, personally I'd avoid red or green because it's too obvious, but then I always like to be a bit different if possible!

I had a winter wedding.
I went teal and silver.
My cake was a 3 layer cake with a cascade of snowflakes coming down each snowflake was difrent and had hints of teal. At the bottom of each layer I had a teal ribbon with a smaller ribbon of diamonds. My favors for the guests where cake balls dirty iced and snowflakes on. I also had paper flowers to match my theam with lots of sparkle on. My head peice was winter leafly/flower/snowflake that glitterd. I also had an owl deliver my wedding rings. My table centre peice was custom made. I couldn't even begin to describe. And I know all this sounds expensive but it wasn't . I was a savvy shopper. My total wading cost was £14000 including photographer and venue

We are getting married on the 31st of January next year. We are going for navy (suits and bridesmaid dresses), with red (flowers, ties and centrepieces) and touches of rose gold (flower ties, touches on centre pieces/table plan and our rings).

I'm having a christmas wedding. We are going burgundy, rose gold and white with snowflakes put into everything (charms on bouquets and button holes, scattered on tables, large snowflakes on chairs and snowflake favour boxes etc). My bouquet has some tiny baubles in the same colours too. The venue already puts up white paper ceiling decorations and a really big christmas tree. X
A castle sounds amazing!

UKbride Member 11 Nov 2019

Ditto I've just booked my for the 12th Dec.... so will be following this 💗💖 xxx

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

Not a theme but One thing a friend of mine did was buy little games or activities and wrap them up and put them under a tree for the children to play with instead of favours

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

I got married in a castle this year we had black and burgundy colour scheme it looked amazing with the castle decor. Most venues have Xmas decorations out so you might want to check what colours they put out if you’re worried about mixing modern colours with traditional decorations x

Hi, I didn't have a winter wedding but I do have one little piece of advice, don't plan to start you ceremony to early in the day. It can take a long time to get hair and make up done for you and any bridesmaids. We found 2pm worked well for us. It also gave guests some travel time or a lie in if they traveled along way the night before. Congratulations, I hope you have a great day :)

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

I had silver and white in the summer but I still would have had silver and white had I had a winter wedding. I think those colours suit any time of year.

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

I think loads have said it but if we went for winter a deep green or Red would be lovely or Black

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

Either silver and white or red... go for christmas colours... everyone will be getting into the Christmas spirit!

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

I forgot to say I got a pinterest board with lots of Christmas wedding ideas. Just look for my name on there. I hope it helps x

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

If you want to go Christmas themed go for red, green and gold or if you rather not do christmas but want a winter theme them ice blue and silver would look nice.

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

Christmas will be your main themes save a killing by using the venues decorations

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

I love red with roses for a winter wedding. Classic

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

Look on pinterest! You'll be inspired in no time x

UKbride Member 12 Nov 2019

Lilac and silver would be lovely , furry boleros for bridal party?

UKbride Member 13 Nov 2019

Winter weddings usually have one of two different colour schemes. Red (maybe dark green, with browns and gold) and Christmas trees, holly etc. To give that warm open fire, cosy, sort of atmosphere.
Or white, silver, blues to give it that icy winter wonderland feel.

Both would look amazing, and of course there are many other colour choices. Its down to personal preference.

With regards to timing, the only thing you need to consider is how early the sun may set if you're after outdoor photos.

UKbride Member 13 Nov 2019

I make wine glass charms in various colours, great favours too

We are also getting married before Christmas Next Year. And we are thinking of Red and Green as it symbolises Christmas colour a little.😁🎄
