Wedding advice

I have just got engaged and this will be my third (and last) marriage. Both previous weddings were in a registry office and nothing really special. I have finally found my soul mate and want to make this a very special day. I am a mature bride and lots of people have "offered" advice on dress etc. I didn't have "the dress", reception, honeymoon, but want to do all the things I missed out on. However, money is tight, can anyone suggest suitable dresses for a lady of my age and suitable venue that doesn't cost an arm and leg please?

Wed2b have a fantastic range of dresses at great prices so I would recommend going to one of there stores. As for location it's hard without knowing where in the uk you are/looking for x

I got married last year ... second time and I was so worried about the dress ... I was 41 , wanted a proper wedding dress but nothing too over the top .. my advice is just to try some on and go with one that you feel like you in x

I had my second wedding aged 40 and went to bridal shop and tried a few on. A good shop will go with your budget and show you flattering styles. We had a church wedding and hired the village hall and had someone in to dress it up, hired a bar in and actually did the food ourselves. Was a great day

it doesnt matter what age you are, go for the dress you have always dreamed off.. keep an eye on january sales... my wedding dress was 2500 went in sale for 500.. if you want a big ball dress go for it.. i am reknewing my vows in 2 years time on my 25.. i am having my wedding dress altered to a maxi dress with short sleeves..go and try a few on and what you feel comfy with.. we hired a pub and at evening we had a massive tent in the garden and french doors were open and we had a ball.. better than any event and everyone mingled..

Alot of charity shops get wedding dresses in, if you really wanted to save you could look in there or ask them to let you know if any come in. They will have only been worn once and will all have been cleaned before the charity shop accepts them. Or online for dresses as I'm sure people buy them and then either change their mind or dont fit into them for whatever reason whether they've grown or shrunk and might be selling them off cheap x

I’m all for second/third weddings being the main event!
I got my dress from a local business called Infinity Dresses. It was a total bargain. Preloved and bargain dresses, mine was an ex demo bargain.
And we found our local pub gave us a much cheaper and better package than any village hall so look outside the box and ask around locally.

I had the wedding of my dreams and it wasn’t much more expensive than my first wedding which was a much quieter affair.

Don’t think about your age try on what you dreamt of and take it from there. You’ll hopefully be pleasantly surprised. I married for the first time in my 50’s and ended up in a strapless fitted fishtail number and felt amazing.

I was a mature bride 9 weeks ago. I did have the expensive dress but we had a beautiful registry office wedding in Newark Castle grounds. Followed by a meal by the side of the river Trent. After the meal we went on a river trip from the restaurant we had our meal at. It was amazing. My dress cost more than our family meal, cake, car, photos put together but I don't regret it.
Do what you feel is right for you.

Congrat! You will look beautiful no matter what your age is but Check on MillyBridal.com they have lots of dresses I found my future dress in the prom section, it can be made to measure and can choose colour(white ivory champagne etc) they also do veils shoes bags everything! As for the venue I’m not sure but maybe have a registry office then a humanist ceremony as your venue doesn’t need to be licensed to have a humanist wedding so this will open many options for you ️

I got my dress from an outlet in Stockport. Was well worth it but had it altered as well. Tkmaxx have a bridal selection. (Yes I work for them 🤦‍️). Have a look on line. Or have. A shop around. It can always be altered to put your personality on it. We got married in a hotel. They also do a just us package and can a compdate most requests. Shop around. You can more or less get what you to budget but have an open mind. Our honeymoon we went after the summer holidays so we could afford two weeks instead of just the one. We got married at the merewood country house in the Lake District and we honeymooned in almyrida in Crete. Flowers were fake but a lovey momento. Made all my invites myself and had Kendal mint cake for my favours. This all kept the price down. Our photographer was a discounted package that I won through Facebook as well. Shop about. It’s worth it 🥰

Where is the op located? There is a dress shop near Market Harborough who is going to make my dress for £550. She's going to make slight changes to the one I wanted that was £1500 on sale! If in the Midlands definitely recommend Elles Boutique

Wed2b.com have fantastic dresses that dont cost the earth. Pubs are a great reception venue as they often dont charge (or dont charge much) because they make their money back over the bar. If you find the right registry office they really don't look like them. I'm getting married in Morden registry office and it looks like a country mansion rather than a little office. So look around at different offices. Or travelodge do a wedding package for 2,500 (I think dont quote me on that) where you have the ceremony and reception all at their hotel but that depends on your budget. 😊

It really depends where you live, if you want a white wedding dress, get one! January is a good time to shop (sales)
Not sure where you live to offer specific advice on shops, but maybe look into finding someone to make a dress for you? My friend had that done and saved loads

my advise is go try some dresses on at any wedding dress outlet/shop find the one you love (you will know what the dress you want as soon as youve seen it!) then look on amazon for the same dress. the dress i tried on was £1200 i found the exact dress brand new for £40 on amazon and it came within 3 days of ordering it, i managed to do my dream wedding all in for £2000, however you make sure you have your dream day which ever and however much it costs, and please show us the pictures :) your more than welcome to inbox me for some money saving ideas xxx

I bought my dress from Lindy Bop. It cost me £45 and I still felt like a princess on the day. We had our wedding and reception at a hotel in Letchworth and it was such a lovely and chilled day. Better than some expensive weddings I've been to, where you feel that you have to be on your best behaviour all day. 🤣

Depending on where you are, try Heart Brides in they are in your area , they do arrange of dress from £299 upwards. Also for a venue to save on money look into one that can do the ceremony and food. My other half and I booked a pub/hotel that has a lovely room, and it saved us loads of money booking just the one place.

I have to agree with wed 2 be. Loads of different styles to suit every bride. My top tip tho is if your not picky about what time of year you want to get married too go off peak. Ours is as least half the price of what the summer wedding would be because we chose October. You might be able to get an amazing venue if you choose off peak season

My mother had a beautiful red velvet gown made by a local seamstress, fully fitted and to her design it cost about £200
