I have just got engaged and this will be my third (and last) marriage. Both previous weddings were in a registry office and nothing really special. I have finally found my soul mate and want to make this a very special day. I am a mature bride and lots of people have "offered" advice on dress etc. I didn't have "the dress", reception, honeymoon, but want to do all the things I missed out on. However, money is tight, can anyone suggest suitable dresses for a lady of my age and suitable venue that doesn't cost an arm and leg please?
Wed2b have a fantastic range of dresses at great prices so I would recommend going to one of there stores. As for location it's hard without knowing where in the uk you are/looking for x
I got married last year ... second time and I was so worried about the dress ... I was 41 , wanted a proper wedding dress but nothing too over the top .. my advice is just to try some on and go with one that you feel like you in x
I had my second wedding aged 40 and went to bridal shop and tried a few on. A good shop will go with your budget and show you flattering styles. We had a church wedding and hired the village hall and had someone in to dress it up, hired a bar in and actually did the food ourselves. Was a great day
it doesnt matter what age you are, go for the dress you have always dreamed off.. keep an eye on january sales... my wedding dress was 2500 went in sale for 500.. if you want a big ball dress go for it.. i am reknewing my vows in 2 years time on my 25.. i am having my wedding dress altered to a maxi dress with short sleeves..go and try a few on and what you feel comfy with.. we hired a pub and at evening we had a massive tent in the garden and french doors were open and we had a ball.. better than any event and everyone mingled..
Alot of charity shops get wedding dresses in, if you really wanted to save you could look in there or ask them to let you know if any come in. They will have only been worn once and will all have been cleaned before the charity shop accepts them. Or online for dresses as I'm sure people buy them and then either change their mind or dont fit into them for whatever reason whether they've grown or shrunk and might be selling them off cheap x
Wed 2 be in Shirley has a variety of dresses all under £700 and I think go as low as £150.
I got my dress from facebook. Dream dress £250 insteaf of £1299. Good luck and enjoy the process and the wedding x
Amazon have got some nice dresses too ad a lot of other wedding stuff xx
I’m all for second/third weddings being the main event!
I got my dress from a local business called Infinity Dresses. It was a total bargain. Preloved and bargain dresses, mine was an ex demo bargain.
And we found our local pub gave us a much cheaper and better package than any village hall so look outside the box and ask around locally.
I had the wedding of my dreams and it wasn’t much more expensive than my first wedding which was a much quieter affair.
Don’t think about your age try on what you dreamt of and take it from there. You’ll hopefully be pleasantly surprised. I married for the first time in my 50’s and ended up in a strapless fitted fishtail number and felt amazing.
Theres some stunning high street retailers that do beautiful elegant gowns and it may give you chance to try on to see what you like? Look at monsoon, phase eight, debenhams x
I got married in may, I got my dress off eBay £27 aline ivory strapless it was beautiful. We had our reception at the local football club, everything cost less than £3000 . We had 3 tier cake, limo photographer etc etc. I am 49 and loved every minute of our day
Wed2B were amazing! Loads of different dresses and really helpful ladies in there too!😊
Milly bridal is good to look at and so I’d hebeos
Wed2b! All sorts of styles and reasonably priced!
Try jjhouse they are cheap for dresses and they also do everything else like flowers too
Lindy bop has a wedding range it's 50s styles and they are lovely and very cheap x
I was a mature bride 9 weeks ago. I did have the expensive dress but we had a beautiful registry office wedding in Newark Castle grounds. Followed by a meal by the side of the river Trent. After the meal we went on a river trip from the restaurant we had our meal at. It was amazing. My dress cost more than our family meal, cake, car, photos put together but I don't regret it.
Do what you feel is right for you.
Dresses from monsoon. Beautiful and not expensive either. Had silk flowers instead of real ones by shirley willows at just so flowers which is an online business lovely lady. Hope your day is lovely best of luck.x
I would always say wed2be amazing prices
Congrat! You will look beautiful no matter what your age is but Check on MillyBridal.com they have lots of dresses I found my future dress in the prom section, it can be made to measure and can choose colour(white ivory champagne etc) they also do veils shoes bags everything! As for the venue I’m not sure but maybe have a registry office then a humanist ceremony as your venue doesn’t need to be licensed to have a humanist wedding so this will open many options for you ️
Wed2b have dresses at different price ranges that look amazing
I got my dress from an outlet in Stockport. Was well worth it but had it altered as well. Tkmaxx have a bridal selection. (Yes I work for them 🤦️). Have a look on line. Or have. A shop around. It can always be altered to put your personality on it. We got married in a hotel. They also do a just us package and can a compdate most requests. Shop around. You can more or less get what you to budget but have an open mind. Our honeymoon we went after the summer holidays so we could afford two weeks instead of just the one. We got married at the merewood country house in the Lake District and we honeymooned in almyrida in Crete. Flowers were fake but a lovey momento. Made all my invites myself and had Kendal mint cake for my favours. This all kept the price down. Our photographer was a discounted package that I won through Facebook as well. Shop about. It’s worth it 🥰
Where is the op located? There is a dress shop near Market Harborough who is going to make my dress for £550. She's going to make slight changes to the one I wanted that was £1500 on sale! If in the Midlands definitely recommend Elles Boutique
Jjs house online is good and reasonable. Xx
Tracey Rodrigues has some great value dresses.
Enjoy having everything this time look on fb pages and marketplace for decorations ect get some fantastic bargains. And Pinterest is brilliant for ideas on what you might like.
I'm having a small but special 2nd time wedding we are having a small wedding at a hotel who have an outdoor facility and then afternoon tea my dress was an ex sample dress from ebay where lots of nice dresses can be found you'll look amazing and it's your wedding so it will be a v special day for both of you
Try bridal reloved if there's one located near you, i haven't started dress shopping yet but they have lots of lovely pre owned dresses at reasonable prices. P.S Im glad you've found your soul mate, good things come eventually 😊
Wed2b.com have fantastic dresses that dont cost the earth. Pubs are a great reception venue as they often dont charge (or dont charge much) because they make their money back over the bar. If you find the right registry office they really don't look like them. I'm getting married in Morden registry office and it looks like a country mansion rather than a little office. So look around at different offices. Or travelodge do a wedding package for 2,500 (I think dont quote me on that) where you have the ceremony and reception all at their hotel but that depends on your budget. 😊
Monsoon or Debenhams have lovely dresses in.xx
Stillwhite.co.uk is designer dresses (second hand) xx
It really depends where you live, if you want a white wedding dress, get one! January is a good time to shop (sales)
Not sure where you live to offer specific advice on shops, but maybe look into finding someone to make a dress for you? My friend had that done and saved loads
Wed 2be have a great selection and great price .
I now someone that's selling one for 200 pound depending on your size and style
My mum got remarried last year at age 55 me and my sister searched and found her dress on ebay and she married in a lovely green dress good luck xxx
A dress that makes you feel special. Its that simple. Try on a variety of styles. You will know when You find it!
my advise is go try some dresses on at any wedding dress outlet/shop find the one you love (you will know what the dress you want as soon as youve seen it!) then look on amazon for the same dress. the dress i tried on was £1200 i found the exact dress brand new for £40 on amazon and it came within 3 days of ordering it, i managed to do my dream wedding all in for £2000, however you make sure you have your dream day which ever and however much it costs, and please show us the pictures :) your more than welcome to inbox me for some money saving ideas xxx
I bought my dress from Lindy Bop. It cost me £45 and I still felt like a princess on the day. We had our wedding and reception at a hotel in Letchworth and it was such a lovely and chilled day. Better than some expensive weddings I've been to, where you feel that you have to be on your best behaviour all day. 🤣
Jewkes Bridal in Rushden have loads of dresses at reasonable prices they will help u find ur perfect dress
I git married at 36. I had the huge dress, even though people said i was a mature bride i still went for the works on the gown. I have mine up for sale. Its your day just like everyone else choose what you want xxx
Depends where you are in the country
I would recommend wed2b in Brighton! They were amazing had loads of different styles and I loved my dress! Also speak to chris from wedding saving expert he got us an amazing deal on a venue! It included so much! Hope this helps!! best of luck cx
Shaw House Weddings - a beautiful wedding venue that doesn’t cost the earth ️ located in Newbury, West Berkshire.
Ebay bids, dream dress was retail £1600 got it for £350 xx
Lots of bridal shops have sale days where you can go and take a dress home the same day, depends where abouts you are i know natalie ann bridal has one this weekend and i thinking liverpool bridal boutique has one coming up too 😊
Depending on where you are, try Heart Brides in they are in your area , they do arrange of dress from £299 upwards. Also for a venue to save on money look into one that can do the ceremony and food. My other half and I booked a pub/hotel that has a lovely room, and it saved us loads of money booking just the one place.
I have to agree with wed 2 be. Loads of different styles to suit every bride. My top tip tho is if your not picky about what time of year you want to get married too go off peak. Ours is as least half the price of what the summer wedding would be because we chose October. You might be able to get an amazing venue if you choose off peak season
My mother had a beautiful red velvet gown made by a local seamstress, fully fitted and to her design it cost about £200
Here is my mother's dress. You could do the official marriage privately at the reception, then have a beautiful ceremony with a humanist somewhere you really like, in front of everyone x
I got mine for £80on ebay and paid £90 for it to be altered to fit me! My whole outfit was off ebay.. Shoes, tiara, dress, veill.. Came to Less than 200
Ever Pretty but buy bigger size. They are much cheeper but small fitting. Make sure you check. Measurements.
Hebeos has a sale at the moment and some of their dresses are gorgeous! You can wear anything you want at any age because it's all about confidence! Good luck with your third and final wedding ❤️
If you didn’t have what you wanted the first and second time round go for it this time. It’s your big day so make the most of it.
Congratulations on your engagement!! Being a “mature” bride myself, I have gone with a beautiful blue evening gown - a sale bargain! We have booked our local pub - no hire cost, just minimum spend on food & drink! - win, win!!
