I’m a curvy size 10/12 with a bit of a tummy since having my second baby that doesn’t seem to want to shift. I have quite curvy hips too so I’m not looking for a figure hugging dress but one that compliments this shape but all the ones I see are figure hugging! Can I see dresses for inspiration of you lovely brides that have a similar shape to me? When I look online they all seem to be petite skinny girls so id love to see some curvier brides who have a tummy ????
This was me 20 days post emergency c-section with my daughter when I was looking for a dress when I was with my ex. A-line style I found perfect I’m a size 18 there but it hid my stomach and hips perfectly
Size 16/18 dress made me feel so good about myself
This is me in my dress, I know you said not figure hugging, but I am a size 12 in this photo, I've always had quite big hips and a tummy, this style suited my figure best, it all depends how it's fitted and material too.
A line dress
I've had three children and have a belly on me from it.I'm bigger than you but this was my dress. That was without a control slip worn underneath my dress but they do do some really good ones if you feel conscious about your tummy :)
This was me 3 weeks ago in my size 16 dress
I had a chiffon a line dress. I’m a size 10-12 too x
You won't no what dress suits you untill you try them on I'm 5ft 2 size 18 I wanted a big princess dress well I looked like Humphrey the 🤣 go and have a look and try some on you will suprise yourself xx
Size 16/18 a little bit different
I'm a size 18 and felt amazing in my dress and not self conscious at all xx
I'm the same size and have big hips too. Very hour glass. I've gone for a ball gown. Definitely don't look at how they fit models on line. Go in to shops and try loads on. I tried a figure hugging mairmade dress on and while it wasn't the dress for me it made my figure look amazing and really held in my stomach. I'll find a pic..
A line dresses with pleating round the waist might be good at hiding tummies.
Invest in some good shapewear to hide bumps and lumps, that's what I'm doing. They make brilliant and comfortable stuff nowadays and you don't need to wear a stiff corset and take it all of to go to the loo
I'm a size 12 with curvy hips and a tummy and I loved my dress. Plus it had pockets! X
Ladies you all look beautiful. Can’t wait to start properly looking for mine.
Try a fit and flare .... you'll be surprised x
I'm between a size 10/12 and was very self conscious of my stomach so I went for a chiffon floaty aline style. But at the end of the day, it's worth trying a few different styles on, even if you don't think they'll suit you
I’m a very self conscious & curvy woman but this was me in my dress last year. Got it from wed2be and felt a million dollars!
I’m the same - always been curvy and carried weight on my tummy. Mine was fitted at the top xx
I'm a very curvy 10 top and 14 bottom and I absolutely loved my dress! I wore some spanks and my dress pulled me in. The detail and beading totally deflected from the tummy. I was so worried about my figure in a dress and tried so many. You'd be surprised with a fit and flare/fishtale 👌
I’m a 12-14 often a 16 for jeans in smaller shops! Damn hips. And I suffer with chunky-arm-itis!!
I had an A line gown and felt so beautiful cinches at the waist and hides a multitude of sins x
This is my dress!! I’ll get to wear it again in April 😍
can’t post my dress as our wedding is in 8 days but if u pm i can send pics
Mine has a built in corset and it pulled my tummy in! Try some on because what you think you want may not be what suits xx
I'm a 10/12 more a 12 due to my tummy and thighs! This dress was a 12 and complimented all.the right places x
I'm a funny size 22ish (I go between 20-24 depending on shop) and I tried on this size 22 corset back ballgown with a lace jacket and the lady had me cinched in (tucked perfectly in but I could still breathe) I'm very conscious of my arms, hips and belly being a bigger girl but when I looked in mirror, I didn't see any of that! Definitely worth going in and trying different shapes to see what suits your body xx
Try an a-line dress perhaps? That's what I'm going to hopefully go for
I'm a curvy 10/12 and this style I felt looked amazing but it's how you feel that matters x
As a size 12,I felt,A line and poofy added to the weight! (Plus not my style and some ladies look wonderful but not for me) I did wear spanks, but I love how I look! I thought I would care about my arm chub, but I really didn't!
Exactly the same problem I'm having.
I went to try on fishtail dresses and was told by my sister i looked wide
So it's a line fitting with sweetheart neck as I've got the boobs too. Get some spanks and make sure you're comfortable. I found the Aline hides all the bits we wanna hide like the mum tum
This was mine and I'm a curvy 12/14 and 5ft8 :)
I was 3 months pregnant on my wedding day xx
Try some different shaped dresses on but I’m quite curvy and have gone with an aline maxi dress types style this the advert photo x
If it's structured, it will pull your tummy in, that was something that bothered me too! The dress I ended up choosing (below) was nothing like what I had in my mind when I started looking. Keep an open mind. Try all sorts of styles on and go with what you're comfortable with.
I'm a 12/14 curvy and I fell in love with an aline princess style gown from wed2be I tried it on and honestly I fell in love even more I always said I wouldn't wear a strapless dress but that's exactly what I had I went with how I felt I knew it would be my dress so bought it then and there it was only the 2nd dress I tried on but I just knew. Wear what ever dress or outfit you want and feel comfy in try going to a bridal shop and trying a few different styles and when you see THE dress you will know good luck with finding your dress and have fun enjoy it x
Beautiful jane x
Corset backs are great because you can pull it in and create a lovely silhouette. I'm a size 12-14 and only 5ft. Try loads of styles on and don't go with a fixed idea of what you want as you may be surprised as to what suits you and what doesn't.
I’m a 12/14 and went for a princess style as it shows off my best bits and hides the bad stuff! 🤣

Never judge a dress on a hanger they always look different on
Size 16 over here!
I know you said not figure hugging, but I’m around a 10 on top and 12/14 on the bottom and have always been conscious of my bigger hips and bum. I wanted a princess or a-line style dress but when I tried them I felt I was just trying to hide myself in them. I was talked into trying fitted dresses and tried on my dress and loved how I felt in it. It was really structured material with a corset back so I felt it complimented my shape. Have an open mind and try on different styles in different materials, you might be surprised!
I totally surprised myself, went for a backless Hayley Page, I thought I'd want to be sucked in and covered up, but felt amazing in this! Try lots of styles on, you'll know when you find it x
I'm a curvy 18 in this pick. Loved how my dress flattered my figure x
I had a 'fit and flare' style dress, as I have a mum tum and I wasnt comfortable in anything too tight, it was beautiful and I felt so comfortable in it!
I have a fit and flare dress too
Can’t post mine as I haven’t used it yet, but I got a floaty A line, at the natural waist. Can’t see your stomach at all
Pm me as don't want to post online
Look at dropped waist or a line dresses. They give shape at the top but flow nicely at the usual offending areas! I am a much larger 18/20. In store I was a depressing 26 because dresses seem to be sized differently. My dress come from TBDress (chinese app/website) in the end and as long as you look at their guides/measurements their quality and sizing was amazing. Cant wait to wear mine in a couple of weeks!!! Xx
No one else matters look you looked lovely xx
Stunning bride
Mine is for sale if you are interested. It's a beautiful dress. I felt lovely in it x
Size 12/14 here. Loved how my dress gave me a waist but skimmed the bits of me I didn’t like! I had a hoop but it was beautiful without to!
I’m a size 12/14 and was really conscious about my size on the day but the style of my dress made me feel so comfortable as it came in above the hips and then went out, every lump and bump was well covered! I think being a slightly off colour helped too! But like everyone else has said trying some on would be your best bet as you’ll find what’s best for you good luck!
I'm between a 20 and a 24 depending on style of clothing, this is my dress (not totally fitted yet as wedding is next year
I was a size 12/14. I was the same and thought I didn't want a figure hugging gown and as soon as I tried a mermaid gown I loved it. Likewise because I have a big chest I didn't want a strapless one either then I found my dress xx
I'm a 14 with a tummy and have found one with a fitted bodice to help pull me in. Xx
I was a size 8/10 when we got married, but curvy too with large boobs as I was breast feeding. Was really worried about not being able to wear a bra as I had a sheer back but it was all. You will look stunning in whatever dress you decide to wear. X
Have you considered shapewear? A really good one will smooth out all the lumps and bumps. Maybe wear one next time you go dress shopping so you can get a realistic idea of how you’ll look in your dress on the day..
I can’t post a picture of my dress as I’ve not had my wedding yet! I spent ages trawling the internet for ideas, watching ‘say yes to the dress’ and came up with loads of styles I thought would suit me!! I am larger than you (16-18) and the best advice I can give is by all means look find parts of dresses you like to get ideas but most women won’t settle on the dress they loved in picture. You need to be lead by the bridal consultants as they know their job and know what styles suit. My dress is nothing like the images I’d looked at! If you do want to look try looking at designers that do curvier ranges such as Sophia Tolli, Stella York, Essence of Australia. Oh final tip, corset back all the way!! Amazing for cinching the waist plus can be let out after you’ve eaten! Good luck
I’m a size 12/14 and found my strapless corset back dress to be very flattering. It held my tummy in all day. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding It’s the most special day xx
I am (or rather was, pre exercise-restricting-back-injury) a size 10-12 with a bit of a tum, love-handles and hips. I found an A-line with a lace-up back to be the most flattering. (perhaps not the best picture, but I don't have many on my phone)
10/12, not curvy because of children just a love of food. I definitely felt A-line dresses suited me the most!
I’ve always been self conscious about my bottom half, this dress hid any trace of tummy and obviously I could have had tree trunks under the shirt and no one would have known xxx
I was 38 weeks pregnant when I got married and all of the dresses I loved were figure hugging, so I bought one anyway and asked a dress fitter to alter it so that from the waist down it came out, like a princess dress, it worked so well xx
My dress was mermaid style with a built in corset so yes figure hugging but pulls you in all at the right places. Tbh I’d say try different types of dresses on. What they look like on the rack and on your figure are totally different
I was a size 14 when I got married last yr and I loved my shape in my wedding dress
Size 12 top half small boob
Size 16 bottom half
My dress hid my strange shape
This was my dress and I am a size 24!
I was a 12/14 and my dress was figure hugging. I always said I didn’t want one like that, but I fell in love with it once I tried one on!
You need an A line dress x
I'm a size 12 and my dress was from fox bridal :)
I was a 10/12 when I got married I didnt think the style of dress I chose would suit me either for the same reasons so I tried on all the different styles and went for a figure hugger
Size 10-12 is not curvy, its normal!
Im no size 10-12 but i felt really comfortable in this one. X
I tried on loads of different styles as a 14-16 and was surprised at the style I felt good in. On the day you feel incredible and don’t think about your tummy at all!
Size 12/14 I went for a fit and flare style as I’m smaller on the top than the bottom. It was corset back so very flattering on the stomach and waistline. I felt like a princess xx
Thank you all for posting your pictures and commenting. This was my post and it’s so reassuring knowing others are similar to me and still felt good stepping out of their comfort zones. You all look amazing!! 🥰👏🏻 xx
Size 14 on top, size 12 on bottom. I actually found a relatively firm fitting dress was best to show off my curves! Anything loose or ballgown made me look frumpy and bigger than I was!
I’m very curvy and never thought I would go for a fitted dress as I hate my stomach. Ended up with a Stella York dress which was very fitted but I felt it held me in and gave me confidence. Good luck in your search!
Some girls would murder for your figure! Structured gowns may have a corsetry system built in so may have no need for any shapewear, but as others have said get advice from a salon - most can tell you in a second what style will suit your pear, apple... whatever shape, so you can work from there on the other elements so don't worry x
Another vote for an A-line style! It compliments curves so well. I would advise trying on lots of styles and not ruling anything out. It’s all about feel! I got really down whilst trying to find a dress as I’m not very body confident, but when you know you know!! Enjoy the dress hunting and all the best for your wedding! Xx
This was mine
I think curves look really flattering in some dresses. Im a 10/12 and didnt want to loose to much weight for my wedding as my curvy hips gave the dress a lovely shape combined with the fit and flare style x Also from Wed2be I highly recommend you go look there x
Go and see Nikki at CurveBridalUK. ️
I had a corset dress. Which was boned I suffer with a bloated stomach and it made it look nice and flat. And the bottom flaired out to hide my big bum and hips.
I have a tummy and got this beauty! And, because it's a lace up back, there's room to let it out after dinner
