What to wear under the dress??

So I’ve gone to my mum and grandma for a lot of advice regarding my wedding but this is a little bit more on the intimate side so I’m hoping someone out there can help. I’m a little bit on the bigger side (14-16) and have found my wedding dress which I love as it allows me to go out bra less for the first time ever! However, I’m a bit stuck on what to wear underwear wise as I have a fit and flare dress so have to be careful about VPL and my H2B also likes when I wear matching sets. Anyone else have similar problems? How did you solve them?

you need those lycra paper thin knickers, they do not show any lines.. debenhams sell them.. however they are plain colours if you want knickers with vpl its plain only but you could always have a nice set so on your night you can swap into before the nighttime engagments happen with your new man xx

Seam free will do wonders on the day, they come in all sorts of styles (I got mine from Primark) then take something beautiful and special for the night... Also it is nice you have not been wearing them all day! X

Agree with the above - go for comfort!! It's a long day and you want to make sure you're comfortable. I got some seem free ones from Matalan, they weren't overly attractive but we're comfy and weren't visible.
Good luck

Deffo comfort! My husband was passed out drunk by the time I returned to our room, the only people to see my undies were me and my bridesmaids getting me in and out of my dress 😂😂

I cant lie, I bought lovely knickers to go under my dress, went for a wee once and they just get in the way, so I took them off for the rest of the night! Wear whatever you're comfy in, hubby2b will probs be too drunk too appreciate lovely underwear by the evening anyway!!

I got married when my son was 9months old and I’m not even embarrassed, I wore my giant white pregnancy knickers purely as they were my comfys haha and I didn’t wear a bra as my seamstress had fitted the dress so I wouldn’t need one I’m a 16 and big boobs x

My sister bought sucky in seamless pants, not gonna lie she took them off about 4 hours in nobody will know, and ur husband will probably find that equally as sexy as matching underwear 🤷‍️

I had a mermaid dress which I couldn't wear a bra with as it was backless. This annoyed me as I really wanted to go all out on underwear. However, I just opted for seamless white satin shorts which were so comfy. I'd get the sexy undies for the night after as in all honesty, it's the last thing on your mind on the day of your wedding as you're both that exhausted

I have an open backed dress so the only option because of how far it goes down is to have cups sewn in. I guess it saved on a matching set. I don't really have any advice!

I haven’t even given a thought to my underwear being slinky it’s more practical. Go with what suits your needs.

Change undies of an evening and go for something comfortable and seam free in the day. You'll both be crashing in the bed! X

I brought a lovely pair of pants came to put them on and it felt like I was being split in two so in the drawer and pulled out a pair of old scabby pants and put them on x spent the day in comfort and the husband never even noticed x

I wore a matching set however was thinking about changing into them when the evening was done and I was dedressed. Also we were too plastered to appreciate the set so I put the set on during our week off following the wedding more time to appreciate it

A body suit. You can get them that fit underbust. With or without suspender belt. Look for under bust corsets, try to find a steel boned one as the fashion ones have plastic bones that create bumps and they bend out! Or just find a g string with garter belt ;)

I went for a comfortable pair of panties with my tight-fitting dress, nude colour and no vpl for £8 in John Lewis (might be cheaper elsewhere but that was the only place in my city that had them)

I’ve been told to go without undies lol. I have the Nola by Maggie Sottero and it shows all the lumps and bumps. I also cannot wear a bra with it. I’m interested to see what other brides wear or not 😊

I couldn't wear a bra, so I had to put it on after I took my dress off. Debenhams have great sets

I'm just here to point out that 14-16 is NOT large, it's completely average size! Wear whatever makes you feel amazing, but remember that it's best to be comfy during the day - you can always ask your bridesmaids to help you out of your dress an hour before bedtime to change into sexy stuff! 😜

14-16 is not bigger.. that’s a lovely size to be and I bet you look lovely too! What about a thong body, with lace detail x

This doesn't help on the matching set side of things but when I was a bridesmaid the lady that fitted my dress advised me to go up a size in the "pull me in pants" as it won't cut you off as much and I was soo comfortable in them! I just got a pair of seam free ones in Debenhams, they weren't attractive in the slightest but I wasn't pulling them up all the time and they didn't roll down either!

I am also going bra-less for my wedding in 3 weeks while in my wedding dress, but I have an exit dress to go back to the hotel in. Have bought a nice matching set, will wear the knickers all day and then just put the bra on when I change into my exit dress.

If a 14 to 16 is classed as a larger size now I am way beyond help. But I am size 24 shrinking slowly but not getting to hung up o. The numbers cause I lot smaller than I used to be. But according to this post I. Always going to be a larger girl even in a 14 to 16 this is upsetting :(

As for matching underwear bra less seamless knickers matching is knicker less lol.
You can get the seamless no vpl in primark.

I got married almost 8 wks ago and wore a mermaid dress. As it was structured, I had the option of wearing a strapless bra or none at all. I chose the latter and it was heaven!! Pantie wise, I went for comfort, just plain nude seam free briefs from m&s x

I searched everywhere for ‘sexy’ undies that went under my dress. Unfortunately none were practical and I wore nude seamless ones from matalan (3 4 £10) they were comfy and practical. Braless is amazing if you’ve got built in top too xx

Sarah Foley

Don't get hung up on the underwear, there is plenty of time for that after. You need to be comfortable all day. I'm sure the designers if wedding dresses have never worn one, this crap ain't easy, but it's worth it. Comfort for me trumped sexiness in the underwear department, and my now husband told me so to lol x
