Old, new, borrowed, blue

My wedding is in less than 4 weeks and I’m just finishing up all the little things. I haven’t currently done anything about ‘something old, new, borrowed and blue’. Apparently it’s meant to be about what you wear on your person than just generally in the wedding decor. What have other people done for this that I could achieve quickly? Or did you not do it at all?

I think my sister wore a Garter with blue ribbon on it and my mum sewn her nans wedding ring into it too so it covered something old and borrowed, the right guy and new and blue, the garter xx

The saying goes something old something new something borrowed something blue and a sixpence in her shoe.

My something old was my grans sixpence that was given to my mum and then to me, we stitched it onto my garter using a blue ribbon as I had open shoes and didn’t want to lose it! So that covered the sixpence old and borrowed and blue and my something new was the jewellery my dad got me to wear.

It can work for you any way you want really! Be creative xx

Something old (to connect you to your past and ward off the Evil Eye),something new (to represent your new life),something borrowed (should be from an older, happily married woman to bestow good luck on your marriage),something blue (also,to ward off the Evil Eye but also represents love and fidelity) and a silver sixpence in your shoe (financial good luck). Some people combine them (so borrowed and old, like borrowing a family heirloom piece of jewellery),you can buy commemorative sixpences from wedding suppliers. Lots of brides have a blue garter,or you can have a blue ribbon sewn onto your dress in the lining.I have blue shoes, and I'm going for a blue, glittery pedi.Your imagination is the limit here

Could borrow jewellery off your mum/sister/grandma/best friend. New could be your new dress/new lipstick/new jewellery/new hair accessory. Old could be anything that you maybe received off a relative that's been around a while, again thinking jewellery or accessories probably. Blue any of the above or maybe a blue ribbon tied around the bouquet?
