Hello! We're contemplating weather to have a specific 'theme' for our day... has anyone else had a theme or are planning around a theme for their big day? I'm sparse on ideas Thanks xx
I'm uncertain myself but thinking possibly a travel theme. So table names of places we have visited x
We arent having a theme but we are having pale grey and pale pink colours.
We have a a mix theme. We have a mix of Lego and sparkle. The Lego for my husband and sparkle for me was amazing we also stuck to colours for certain things too
We are having ours in December so are having the traditional red, gold & green colours with a festive theme x
Were having the big bang theory for our theme, with a cake depicting a fave scene of ours, table names for the characters, home-made themed chocs for favours, light up bazinga letters, various songs from the show n trying to find some entertainment to fit the theme aswell lol xxx
Ours is music
We are going for a garden party theme, and getting married in the hotel garden, if it rains, stick with them just have it indoors xx
Our theme is Disney. So cake represents our favourite 2 films with topper of mickey and Minnie, tables are different films, even the menu is themed. We aren't making people dress up though! :)
Ours was Star Wars themed. Guests loved it.
Ours is 1920s glitz and glam
We had a bird theme coz that’s how my husband proposed to me. He had an owl fly me the ring on a falconry experience.
We had a birdcage table plan, laser cut birds for guest names, chocolate cornflake nests with mini eggs as favours, cake had a birdcage and instead of b & g topper we had two birds, and bird cages as table denture pieces on wooden tree slices. we also had birds of prey for guests to hold
Ours is Disney
Personal to you and your partner is best if your gonna have one. My h2b is a sailor, races in competitions etc, he proposed at the Europeans and our do is at the local yacht club, so going for a nautical theme to make the most of the venue and it's the special thing for him when all he wants is what I want x
Ours was twilight firework sparkle theme. We had glitter and sparkle in our table decorations, sparkler photo and fireworks. We love fireworks so obvious for us to include that. And we got married bonfire weekend. 🥰
I'm a long time gin drinker and our third date was at Plymouth gin distillery so it was only right we went with a gin theme. Each table had an empty bottle with a couple of flowers in and we had a selection with tonics as our arrival drinks.
Harry Potter reception 7 tables all book names, floating candlee, wand place settings etc ;) lord of the rings ceremony (music and readings only)
Ours is batman themed with table names of places and black and yellow colours for decorations also bit of micky mouse as I love Disney and OH like batman lol x
Me and my h2b are having a dead pool theme!! Red and black. We both like dead pool, and we both love the colour red. Especially me. Red for me means passion and love 💖
We have a space cabaret theme because I'm a burlesque performer and my H2B loves space. It puts a nice personal touch and makes it quite easy to choose things like decorations.
Ours was rustic/farm. Our place setting and favours was a wooden tractor magnet with names engraved on. Our cake was farm themed with a tractor cake topper. We had milk jugs with hessian wrapped around with wild flowers placed onto of a wooden log as centre pieces x
We're hoping to get married on Halloween 2020 so having that as our theme... pumpkins filled with flowers on the tables, orange/purple/black blankets as favours because it will be in a field with a teepee, hopefully people will dress up (getting the future brothers in law white suits and stormtrooper masks and my sister wants to dress as Jack Skellington) but will be doing a Halloween photobooth as well x
Film theme. Invites are vintage movie tickets, table names are our favourite films, favours are cocktails and popcorn etc.
We've gone for a vintage 1920's theme for the fun factor
Ours was travel
My theme is disney x
We're having a Dr Who and Music mash up theme, to reflect our love for both. Definitely doing it all in our own style!
Our theme is loosely tied around a village fete. There will be garden games during the canapés and drinks reception. The main marquee will be dressed with bunting, balloons a candy cart and tree themed table names in wood slices. For evening we have sparklers (recommend by our photographer for great pics) a characaturist, magic selfie mirror and hog roast. There are also fire pits for toasting marshmallows. On top of the DJ in the barn complete with bubble machine. We have quite a few children coming to our wedding and want it to be fun for everyone.
As we only have 4 tables for the sit down meal i want to name them after the houses in Harry Potter but we fight over what we have for the Top table cos I'm a Gryffindor and he is Slytherin.
We had the film Up! as a theme. It was more subtle touches and balloon decorations than dress up though
We had a loosely based alice in wonderland theme. We sent out little keys with our saves the dates, topsy turvy wedding cake and afternoon tea. Rabbits, sheesha pipe, keys, playing cards were a few of our table decorations.
You don’t have to have a ‘theme’ just style and colours
We based ours on the secret garden. This included keys on the invitations, flower seeds as favours, tables named after flowers, tree slices and lots of flowers for table decorations. All that plus we got married outside in a garden at a beautiful country house that is now known as the secret garden venue for all its hidden places in the garden. It wasn’t fancy dress or anything like that my sister just wanted a theme for the stationary she was designing for us and we tied it all together nicely. She actually came up with the idea before we viewed the venue so we knew it was the perfect venue as soon as we set foot in it.
I have strategically placed nods towards Star Wars throughout our wedding. Enough so we’ll notice. But subtle so my mother doesn’t have a sh*t fit. I think something really personal to the couple can be a nice talking point among guests.
We’re having our wedding at a cafe that is called Fandom it’s full of nods to all different fandoms from Doctor Who to Disney Harry Potter to Marvel and more .So that’s our theme but you don’t have too have a theme unless that’s what you want to do something personal to you as a couple is good that’s why we picked the cafe as it represents us a couple
We want either anime or video game theme 😍
We are having a medieval style wedding, as its 2nd time for both of us we didnt want a traditional white wedding. Ive made medieval bunting wall hangings and flags. My dress is blue and Im making H2B a shirt and tunic, hes already bought a sword to complete the outfit. On our invites we have encouraged guests to wear medieval costume but said its not essential , as the church is only about 200metres from the reception we are hoping to have a procession after the ceremony to the venue
Im a huge disney fan but my hubby to be not so much but our save the dates and table number are one of my fav disney films x
We’re having a masquerade theme for our wedding - black gold and silver decorations, lace and metal masks for guests, orchestral music and the dress code is fancy, sparkly, over the top dresses and dashing suits xx
Theme weddings are the best, it's a fantastic way to incorporate both your interests in your special day.
My wedding theme was based on The World Of Warcraft. Kept it simple though, didn't get married in cosplay or anything.
We just had the Alliance colours Navy and Gold.
Gamers cake topper, because we met through online gaming.
And cut our cake with Elven Swords from The Lord of The Rings, as its both our favourite movie.
Mine is victorian gothic/steampunk
Ours is TV and film themed - guests coming in fancy dress as TV and film characters, our disco will be (mainly) music from the movies and various touches from mine and my fiancé’s fandoms.
I have gone for the these autumn/October so I will be decorating with pumpkins and sunflowers go surprisingly well with them. I will have leaves on the tables and autumn coloured vines to decorate around the venue.
