Are you having a formal sit down meal for your wedding breakfast?
We've decided on just having snacks and nibbles in the evening, so a few big cheese boards, bread, crisps etc, that way people can just 'pick' at the food

Best to do evening snacks for NY evening guests and also some day guests may still be hungry.

We got married at 2. Had our food at 4.30 and put bacon sandwiches on at 9pm

We got married at 2 have a 3 course meal about 4.30 and then but a buffet on about 8pm. But it’s entirely up to you.

Mine was like this and we did bacon and sausage sandwiches at 9. People loved it x

We are having our wedding at 1.30, then sit down meal at 4.30 then putting on a "picky" buffet on evening, just to fill a gap for guests really x

We had similar, for the evening we had a BBQ at the venue

I really think you should. I’ve been to a wedding where there was nothing in the evening and everyone went home hungry and complaining. Helps soak up a bit of alcohol too so less likely to have very drunk guests. We’re having carvery baps, veggie quiche & salads in the evening. A lot of people now go for bacon butties, mini fish & chips or a hog roast (which I wanted but got talked out of!). I really like the idea of cheese boards and nibbles too x

We aren't doing evening food. Having a 3 course sit down meal in the afternoon. We are cutting up the cake and having a sweet cart. Iv hardly ever eaten food in the evening at the wedding so decided not to waste money. The bar stocks crisps!!!

We did canapes, 3 course meal and evening meal. There was no wastage. The evening food was bacon or sausage sarnies and they were a huge hit with the guests.

I'm having a sit down 3 course meal then a pizza van for the evening guests

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

Definately! Unless you specifically tell your evening guests there won't be food, they will probably expect it. Your day guests (especially any children) will probably be peckish by about 8pm :)

Our wedding cake was made of different cheeses,so we jus did that with crackers and chutney in the evening. Guests loved it... kill two birds with one stone x

We had a 3 pm wedding and meal at 5pm. Didn’t put anything out for the evening guests that came at 7pm. Although we did cut the cake at 8pm so everyone got a piece

We having a three course sit down meal at 5:15pm and no offering any more food in the evening ad dinner won't finish until 7.00pm and people should be content x

A lot of venues offer cooked rolls for later on in night after evening guests arrive x always a guest pleasure and I'm yet to see them go to waste x

We're doing snacks like chip cobs & hot dogs

We're getting married at 3pm and having our buffet at 6pm, and not putting any food out for the evening guests are coming at 7:30pm. But we've told our evening guests there won't be any food so atleast they know they need to eat beforehand? X

We're having a 2:30pm ceremony but not having the wedding breakfast, we're just doing a larger evening buffet for everyone from 6:30pm. It's reduced the cost of our wedding massively while still being able to make sure everyone is fed xx

Yeh, we did and it went down a treat. We had a hot buffet, burgers, pasta garlic bread, chips. Helped soak up some of the champers. X

Our wedding was at 12 and had a big sit down meal at 2.30 until 4.30. We put a buffet on at 8pm for the night guests. There wasn't many day guests that ate. Me and hubby just picked at it x

UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

We don’t get married until the afternoon too and my suggestion would be to include a selection of food or some form of buffet. Your evening guests and day guests are bound to get hungry later on after all the drinking and dancing!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

Having a little snack in the evening really helps keep people from getting monstrously drunk, I'd recommend it!

Hayley Wright-Mitchell
Hayley Wright-Mitchell 1 Apr 2019

I would suggest a finger food buffet

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

Wedding breakfast at 14.45 so much earlier than you, and evening hogroast around 8pm. I think even if day guests were eating later I'd want something in the evening to keep guests happy and as others have said, dilute the alcohol a bit!

We’re getting married at 3pm. 3 course meal and having a bbq in the evening about 9pmz

Rachel Doxey

Maybe a buffet for evening guests try and keep it simple I went to one it was just burger and chips but if you could afford it maybe a Hog Roast

Gemma Bosher

We got married at 2 had a 3 course meal at 5 and a buffet about 9 xx

Natalie Rowena

The worst thing about weddings is if there isn't enough food (in my opinion)! We are providing pizzas for evening guests.. catering for approx 75% of them as not everyone will eat a whole pizza!

UKbride Administrator

We had rolls n sausage & rolls n bacon for might guests, went down a treat x

I had a 2pm wedding with my meal at the same time. I organized a buffet for about 9.30pm for evening guests

Light buffet would be good in the evening

Amy Hawkins

Definitely have food! They’ll need it as it’s such a long day & also to soak up the booze

Tracy Barron
Tracy Barron 1 Apr 2019

I'm doing exact same and Yes I'm having an evening buffet. I'm always hungry at a wedding. x

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

We got married at 3.30 and ate at 5.30 all our guests were there for the whole day (no separate evening only guests) so we didn’t do any evening food.... everyone was happy dancing and drinking

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

Do food foe evening but only for 80% of your total number of guests and ask for it to be put out as late as possible x

Samantha Small
Samantha Small 1 Apr 2019

We are having chip buttys for evening as we get married late in afternoon to so don't want evening guests to go with out

Tania Luckett
Tania Luckett 1 Apr 2019

Ours is exactly the same and we are having burgers and nachos and stuff but only putting out enough for 50 whereas we have 80 guests

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

To not do food at the evening is a bad idea. I wouldn’t want to be accused of being tight your breakfast will be done by 5:30 usually anyway as a 2pm wedding should be seated 3:30/4 not 4:30! Do food at 9pm again as your evening guests will be starving especially after alcohol

Leanne Young
Leanne Young 1 Apr 2019

We're getting married @ 1.30pm having canapes then sit down wedding breakfast @ 4pm then evening buffet from 8pm x

Laurisa Kerr
Laurisa Kerr 1 Apr 2019

What's a wedding Breakfast between 4.30 and 6.30 - is that am or pm?🤔 - I'm a dinosaur on weddings🤣

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

You should do food in the evening as some people might get hungry again but make it at like 9.30. Buffet, snacking options, cakes. I wouldn’t scrimp too much though as it’s amazing how many people do actually go for it. Then again we had about 60 additional evening guests!

Jayne Harper
Jayne Harper 1 Apr 2019

Hi we got married at 2pm, had similar time for wedding breakfast and then our buffet came out at 8.30pm-10.30pm. People barely touched it because or breakfast ran over. And all our guests were invited for the entire day, so we regret having it now. But if we were having separate evening guests I'd have still put the buffet on.

Zoe Taylor
Zoe Taylor 1 Apr 2019

depends how big your main wedding breakfast is and how many evening guests you are having. We are just doing wedding cake as evening food and have informed the few evening guests that are coming that there won't be much to eat.

Our wedding is 2pm, same as yours and we expect to be seated for our meal around 4/4.30pm after photos etc. We are having our evening party start at 7.30pm and serving a finger Buffet around 8.30pm x

Debi Higgins
Debi Higgins 1 Apr 2019

Same as us. We're putting sausage rolls and sandwiches out on the tables for the evening guests.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

You could just do something like bacon butties in the evening

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

I’m doing it for mine with similar timings, hot sandwiches at 9:30

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 1 Apr 2019

We’re doing breakfast rolls at night! Rolls and bacon/sausage/potato scone

Rachael Watkinson
Rachael Watkinson 1 Apr 2019

We are doing about the same time and will be serving pork batches around 8 for evening guests and anyone else to help themselves to. Our organiser said dancing and alcohol can often help work up an appetite.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 2 Apr 2019

We also getting married at 2 so we starting the evening do from 4 and will open Buffett at 4,30 then top up later on for those coming later

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 2 Apr 2019

Yes, your day guests will be hungry at night too. We had bacon baps with chips, fish and chip cones and wedding cake and there wasn't a bite left

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 2 Apr 2019

Hey mines at 3 then the wedding breakfast is at 4:45 till half 6, we have organised a buffet for the evening to open about 9ish, the day guests might not eat that much but the evening guests will, but if all your day guests and evening guests are the same, some places offer like a midnight snack, to come out about half 10/11 there’s usually like fish and chips or sandwiches xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 3 Apr 2019

Most people do a buffet round about 9pm... I've been to a wedding where people were ordering in take aways u don't want that.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 3 Apr 2019

Always feed your guests - you don’t want the only thing they remember from your big day being that they were hungry
