Hiya! So who's booking a wedding band and who's booking a DJ? I'm stuck on which to choose! Lol x
I'm doing neither we have hired a Duke box! With kareoke ofcourse
Due to the amount of guests we have opted for a DJ
DJ
Iam doing a DJ as with a band to lound u feal like u have to shout even how u next to someone
I had a band, who also dj in between
We got a package to have a band, dj when the band aren’t playing & a photo booth
DJ I'm having x
Went with dj. Band more expensive and theres more breaks in music. A dj can put a playlist on while going to the toilet, grabbing food etc but bands cant. Also as we have quite an eclectic music taste dj just made the most sense for us
Pianist for the day time, and DJ for the evening. Music in the day always gets forgotten about
book a band with a playlist in between. :)
We went with a DJ as I think people are more willing to get up and dance with that scenario. There is weird British reverence when you have an actual band and guests feel they have to watch and politely clap rather than dance and block the stage.
We also liked the fact that people could request songs from a DJ on the night. Even before that we sent out song requests with our invitations for guests to request their favourites and pledge they would get up and dance when that song played. This helped involve all our guests in the day and everyone loved being asked! :-)
We are having a DJ & then with the invites giving them a space to request a song :)
We had a band .. they stayed til midnight and were incredible.. everyone had an amazing time! Thoroughly recommend it if you want to avoid things like “bits n pieces” etc at your wedding .. bands don’t need to cost the earth either! X
DJ & acoustic band!!
Dj's in with our wedding package and we also have a band playing a few spots in the evening xx
We have booked a band, they are doing an acoustic set for the ceremony then full band in the evening with a DJ. 😁
I’m having both
We had a Di and asked our guests for song requests on the invite to get them up on the dance floor, worked really well lol
We are hopefully having a duo singing act for 2hrs then a dj for the rest of the evening
I’m having a band that also DJ in the set gaps. They set up a website so my guests can put in song requests and the info is on the invitation. I have a pianist for the cocktail hour.
Most weddings I've been to these days typically have both
If you want everyone up and dancing all night get a band. DJs can be hit and miss unless you really specify what you want to hear.
Live band is my vote every time!
Great for getting the guests up and dancing!!!
Most bands will have a playlist for between sets etc. And often they’ll be more than willing to take requests for that.
And having your first dance played live... there’s nothing better!
If you need any inspiration, we can help!
Stuck in the Groove
We also do a full-day package where we can sort out your live music for the ceremony and drinks reception/wedding breakfast (at a reduced rate compared to booking them all separately).
If you want to book live music for the ceremony/drinks reception and leave the evening to a DJ, I can sort out your live music needs.
Nicola Nicholson - Piano & Keys
We've booked both but some people but book a band and then put together a playlist and play through a laptop or CD-ROM
I'm taking my favourite tracks on a disc and just playing them!
2ant a band but then want a ceilidh x
A lot of companies offer both... we got a band and one of the members does a DJ service inbetween. Check out sites like entertainment-nation
Loads of bands and styles to choose from. Were going to give the DJ a list of songs that we want playing so still our choice of music
DJ for us didn't even think about having a band but I don't think it is something we'd want
We are having a DJ/disco
I’m having a DJ, a friend of ours is doing it for free so seems silly not to
We are having a band who are doing 2 45 minute sets for us and then they're dj'ing for the rest of the night
Both for ours
I booked a band for my day last year and it was the best thing I done. I had a full evening with them, a ceilidh and when they went for a break they done a small DJ set. During the evening I also done a me and Mrs quiz!
DJ on before and after our band! X
We’ve got a singer and the DJ is playing before and after him x
I’ve got both too
We've got a dj included in venue package,.however am thinking of getting a singer to break it up but not yet decided 🙈
Live band in the day Dj at night but we also had a photo booth glitter bar and mr Tee the ice cream for pud after nighttime food you have to keep your guests occupied I say x
Band x
It's allways about the dj or the band however their are loads of other options. 9 out of 10 have children in attendance who keeps said children happy and entertained us facepainters and gallon twisters. We even glitz up the adults should give us a try. UK Shropshire based we cover shrooshire Powys and Clwyd.

We had a friend play an acoustic set, then a rock covers band. It was absolutely brilliant as they learnt 1 of my favourite songs and played it amazingly. Every was dancing all night long. We did have a playlist for inbetween sets but they sorted all that and our favourite songs.

We had both x
Got DJ cheaper than band as well
I’ve got a DJ as it’s included in the cost of my venue
booked both! the band we have also do a DJ set after they play which is essentially a spotify list of songs of our choice. best of both worlds!
I had a band that DJed between sets, they were awesome. Think they're called The Epics now (they were The East Coast Vagabonds when we had them) Highly recommended
I’m doing both a lot of bands provide a dj as well if you research it and see which bands do :)
I have live band playing if I had enough I would have both x
