If you're going to a bridal shop and having one ordered you're best looking no later than 8ish months before. Mine took 6 months to arrive in the shop then fittings and adjustments over 8 weeks.
I walked into to a shop to look & ended up buying! Wedding not until Dec 2021 😂
I’m getting married Aug 2020 and planning to start looking around June/July this year

Depends where you go if you gonna go to a shop where they need to order them 9 months before the big day minimum really or ask the shop how long the dresses take to order.. if your looking off the rail anytime really just make sure enough time is left for any alterations that may or may not be needed.. I did mine 9 months before and it has only just come in with enough time for alterations xx
Getting married in may 2019 and just bought mine today off the peg but only needs a couple of small alterations can't recommend bespoke wedding boutique Jackie was amazing and understanding

I'm getting married in October 2020 and have my first wedding dress appointment this Saturday! I wasnt planning until later in the year but one of the shops I liked has a sale so hoping to bag a bargain. I think as long as you give enough time for choosing, alterations, etc... then when ever you feel ready to
I went looking and found the perfect one in November and I dont get married til June 2021 🙈 there isn't a right or wrong time to start xxx
I get married then too and have found the one I want... but we have plenty of time. There's no rush, but no harm in looking either x
I’m getting married in July 2020 and have an appointment to start looking at dresses in a couple of weeks. Bearing in mind that some stores take almost 9 months from when the dress is ordered to it arriving in store. I didn’t want to be rushed x
I get married August and ordered my dress last March and my dress is due Feb/ March this year
I hope you don't mind my advice, I've tried on sale, second hand and new, total of 106 dresses. The sale and second dresses i nearly bought until i spoke to a seamstress and found that they could not be altered to fit me. The sales staff we're pressuring me to buy saying take it today and you can have it for £400. Glad i didn't otherwise I'd have dresses i could never wear. I started shopping in april last year and finally found the right dress in September. I went on hols and came back to try it again, i cried as it finally was the one and had that feeling i knew i had been waiting for. I've been married before so i knew i had to wait for the feeling. I ordered the dress a few weeks ago and it'll be back in April in readiness for alterations for my wedding in October.
Wait until you get that feeling because I promise you you will.
Also, when you find that dress in one shop ring other suppliers, glad i did because i had mine £500 cheaper.
Good luck and wishing you a happy marriage. Xx
I got engaged April 2017 and went looking for dress in September 2017 picked one then almost a year later I had lost 4 stone in weight and fell out of love with my original pick so had to look again so finally in July 2018 I picked my dress and we get married in April this year
I'm getting married October 2020 and i went to the national wedding show in oct just gone found my ideal dress but didn't buy as hopefully will be abit cheaper if I wait plus want to lose abit of weight ❤️
I'm getting married in may 2020 and have already for my dress and have almost finished paying it off! Wanted to spread the cost... Just whatever you want. Xx
I bought my dress in March 2018 and I’m getting married in June 2019. Some dress companies need around 6 months to make the dresses. It took me 4 weekends to find my dress! Good luck!
Depends on the type of dress you want and where you’re getting it from, because some places have to order it in which may take a while. You also have to factor in time spent on any alterations, and also the fact that you may not find what you’re looking for, or get the results you want as quickly as others. It’s never too early to start looking...just take your time, start when you feel ready, and remember to have fun and enjoy the whole process.
I’m getting married in November 2019, and recently tried and ordered my dress just before Christmas, when there were sales going on (not the main thing to always look out for, but was an added bonus! :D )
I hope all these comments help, and all the best! x
im going to look in july 1 year before and try a couple on a month and hopefully buy no later then 6 months before to leave enough time for alterations xx
I get married aug 2020 but ive already got my dress. Its still in the shop but deposit is paid. I wanted to look early as i know some brodal shops like u to pay at least 50% before they will order it in x
