Destination wedding

Has anyone got married abroad and did you have to compromise on the dress? I think I want a big dress but not sure how I’d get it to Cyprus!

I got married in Kos this year and didn't compromise on my dress at all, everyone said I would be too hot and to go for a lightweight dress, I didn't want to give up on my dream dress so I wore it and loved being in it, I didn't get too hot at all, I'm glad I stayed with my dream dress x

I got married in Cyprus and had a big dress. Just take your dress box as hand luggage

You can get a dress box to take as hand luggage. Ask you r bridal shop for the best way to fold it. Have the dress you want if you are un a hot country they will have aircon in most places anyway.

I got married in Malta in 30 degrees, yes it was hot but I loved my dress so much. The shop I brought my dress from didn’t think they would be able to get it in the hand luggage box provided by Thompson but the did and I carried it on as hand luggage.

I got married in cyprus and wore a big dress, I wasn’t hot at all. My wedding dress shop packed my dress into a small hand luggage suitcase for better protection.

I had a big dress, they managed to pack it in a small box& it went as hand luggage. The shops are used to doing it

Check with the airline you fly with- some let you carry the dress as extra hand luggage- others just as luggage. Make sure you’ve got some way of steaming it (if it needs it) where you’re going!

I got married in Italy during the heatwave last August, I didn’t compromise on my dress at all just get a hoop as it keeps it all off your legs. We took my dress in a dress box as hand luggage (shop packaged it for a small fee). It was 41c on my wedding day and it was fine with a hoop (I had several layers and a train!) x

I got married in Rome in July and it was over 35 degrees x everyone told me.to wear a really lightweight dress and I didn't want to. I bought the dress I wanted and was absolutely fine and we were walking around!! I took it as my hand luggage. I bought the box from the empty box company xx

We got married in Cyprus in may and I had a full dress! I got it steamed before we went and took it my hand luggage! I didn’t pack it until the night before and I hung it up straight away in my mums hotel room. With the heat the odd crease dropped xx

I got married in Cyprus and had a bigish dress. My seamstress offered to pack it for me in my hand luggage case and said just to hang it up when I get out as the heat will get out any creases! I got married at 5pm and I was nice and cool! Good luck with your planning!
