Hi I'm wondering when the best time to get the wedding dress is? Obviously weight and style / trends fluctuate so am a bit unsure! Thanks.
It might be good to buy a size smaller, then this would give you no choice but to try and lose weight. Assuming you want to lose weight of course!
I’m going to start looking a year before the wedding. That way it’s the right time of year to try on different styles to suit the season! Also gives enough time to find the one and get alterations if needed. I wouldn’t worry about trends changing too much, as long as you like it that’s all that matters!
I went and looked a year before. Came in after 4 months. Not getting married until May, and not having alterations done until April as I don’t need much doing.
I'm getting married in Nov 2019, I bought my dress in may 2018. I fell in love with it 😍 it's up to you.
I bought my wedding dress in January and got married in tue september.
As soon as i put the dress on i loved the style and then a few weeks before the wedding had it altered a few times due to loosing weight.
Happy dress shopping
I'm getting married in May 2019 and bought my dress may 2018 bought it a little tighter and managed to drop weight so it now fits just need length taking off
I got mine 12 months b4 as i found hairdresser florists ect wouldnt dicuss things with me untill i had my dress
I got mine in October as it’s being made in America. Comes back to the shop in March so alterations can be made in time for the wedding in June x
Wow I better get looking. I get married Oct and only tried on 1 dress :/. I'm doing slimming World atm and already lost 2st in 3 months so trying to hold off. X
I got married in June this year and we had only got engaged at the end of July the year before so had less than a year to execute everything
I got my dress at the end of September and everything was all ready and done in plenty of time
If you wedding is years away, don’t buy to early, so many find the dress then change their mind the year before the wedding
I’m getting married next month and bought my dress off the peg last month 🙂
I'm getting married in Feb 2019. I got my dress in July this year. Currently going through alterations as it's 3 sizes too big for me!
I bought mine 12 months before because it had to be made shipped etc but still felt amazing in it as I did when I tried it on x
If you want to spend a lot of money on a brand new dress start looking now or go to the sales and buy a sample dress later which gives you time to lose weight if your wanting to and also save money on your budget x
I’m getting married 1st July 1st 2020 when do you think I should get mine?
I'm getting married in July and I bought my dress 2 week ago. It arrives in april. I was advised some designers take 9months so should be looking around then x
I bought my wedding dress November 2017 and for married September 2018. This gave time for the dress to be made, alterations and final fittings
I bought mine in January this year, got married in October but we didn’t start the alterations till September.
We set the date in March this year , I measured myself and sent the measurements to the company for the dress I fell in love with, I got married 14th of Dec and it fit perfectly. My dress arrived in April, think I got lucky. Everyone said how beautiful it looked on me 😍 got mine online so didn't even try it on before 😂
I got mine in September this year and I’m getting married in June 2020!! I found the perfect one in a sale when going to try on a different dress!! It will need alterations doing which I’ll probably start getting done Jan 2020 as it’s a couple of sizes too big!! I’d say get yours whenever you want but the risk of getting it too early (which is a risk I’m taking) is that your taste may also change!! xxx
I would recommend up to a year before. Mine only took 5 months to be made but some designers take longer. Also always buy for your current size and not smaller. You can have a dress altered down by up to three dress sizes but you can’t make it bigger if you don’t lose the weight. I would double check with your shop to see what they recommend in terms of alterations and how many dress sizes they can alter it by to make sure. I’m not saying you won’t lose the weight but the lady in the dress shop I went to told me of so many brides that have bought a dress size down and then haven’t lost the weight they intended and then got annoyed with the dress shop owner despite them pre-warning them. I lost a stone from buying my dress to having it fitted and it looked fine when altered.
