What are the chances of going into the first dress shop and finding ‘the perfect dress’ within the hour appointment I have? I’m not one for clothes shopping and the thought of having to keep making appointments at different shops when other people are free sends my anxiety sky high. I just want to go in, try on a few dresses and fall in love with one of them. I’m willing to try on all styles within my budget (which is only £600) But I’m worrying I won’t find the perfect dress and will just ‘make do’ just so I don’t have to go to any more dress shops ???? Did anyone fall in love with one of the first few they tried on it?

My wedding dress was the 4th dress I tried on within the hour appointment in the first dress shop I went to. I had a good idea of the style I wanted and what would suit me so that helps.

I tried on three bought the second, always try on one more than 'the one' if you don't like it as much as 'the one' you know it's not the one, if you do buy it alternatively leave the shop and go back for it a few days later if you are still thinking about it x

I was very prepared to have to go to loads of different dress shops because I had no idea what I was looking for and I'm incredibly indecisive!
I must have tried on 20 or so dresses in my appointment at the first shop, just as I was ready to give up and move on to the next shop the lady asked me to try on just one more that she had in mind... She told me this was definitely it and she was right - that was the one! X

I had no idea of style and went in just to get an idea, second one I tried on I fell in love with. I tried on about 8 more just to see what other ones there were but we kept comparing them to my dress. Best decision I made getting it as loved wearing it on the day

I found the dress I wanted on my very first dress viewing. Now I'm disappointed though as it cost £4,400!!!!! My advice would be to tell the shop FIRST your budget. I didn't, I just looked for what I liked

Do loads of research on different styles, colours, material etc and be willing to try on at least one of each type you like the look of.
I thought I found 'the one' with the second dress I tried one which i found online and fell in love with, however 4 other bridal shops and 23 other dresses and I found 'the one' which blew my original one out the water.
I tried on 25 in total, but some ladies seem to be lucky and find it straight away 😄 good luck!

I felt exactly the same so i decided on going to Wed2b as you dont need an appointment. It was really relaxed, i picked out 5 dresses to try didnt like any, then the lady brought me one to try that i'd dismissed & it was perfect. Also you can take this dress away with you straight away x

I went specifaclly for a certain dress. I got there and they showed me and it was awful. Nothing like the pictures. I tried on another 6 of my own picks. I had always said a mermaid dress wasn't for me and was really against it. The assistant then told me to hang fire and that she was going to pick one dress for me to try on. I tried it on and instantly began to cry. It was THE dress and even a mermaid dress. Keep an open mind and listen to them at the bridal shop, they really do know what they're doing. I can't wait to wear mine again, start my fittings in 2 weeks

I did. Two hour appointment and tried around 7 dresses. The bridal shop should know what will look good and give you hints and pointers

I went to wed2be and tried 5 dresses on, bought the 2nd one after 2 hours of switching between 2 dresses and making a decision. You don't need an appointment, you can try on as many as you want and they have quite a few under your budget :) I hate shopping too!

I picked out three dresses first go. 2 my choice and 1 the boutique owner's. Fell in love with her hoodie instantly. I cried (I don't cry) and I don't shop. Bonus was it was £400 in the sale!! Good luck!

First shop I went to I found my perfect dress... But yikes it was bloody expensive, so turned around walked back out, went into the next bridal shop, found a dress that was also amazing (not perfect) tried it on, loved it. Then to make it perfect I wanted it altering so I could have the corset back, the shop said it couldn't be done, found it online with corset back so hubby phoned & had a rant at them & sorted it for me
It was perfect in the end!!

I did it twice. Fell in love with the dress at a wedding fair I went too. Unfortunately that dress fell through. Went to another shop, and it was the first dress I tried on there, I tried on 4 after that one, but went back to the first one and bought it.

I also went to wed2be for that reason, no appointment needed, much more relaxed atmosphere. I tried on 5 dresses had a favourite, went back a week or so late and tried on 3 more, I bought the first one I tried I would definitely recommend wed2be, the staff are incredibly helpful, there’s loads of different styles and you can try as many on as you like. My dress only cost £595.

I went to Wed2Be and let the staff know I was feeling nervous. I picked out a few, but the fitter was so lovely and helpful and gently guided me towards a style that she just knew would suit me. I fell in love with it and bought it there and then. I was in and out within an hour ️

I only went to 1 shop, I had a certain style in mind so I picked a couple of that style and a couple of others in different style and colour
I fell in love with the first dress I tried on (different style and different colour to what I had in mind) instead of Ivory it was ivory lace over a light champagne colour dress
Still tried on other dresses but they didn’t have the wow factor
So it can happen, good luck wedding dress shopping xx

I did it. Think I tried on 5 total and the 4th was the one (only tried the 5th on as my dream dress was going to require some very delicate work taking sleeves off and making more to go on and I needed a minute to see if I wanted to make that commitment).

Ive bought mine from wish due to budget and its nice but i did also go to wed2be to try dresses on before i found out i was pregnant with my son and it was so relaxed and the staff were so helpful, we were there 40 minutes before closing and ended up staying another half an hour after closing must of tried on 40 dresses and it didn't feel stressed, i like clothes shopping if the shop is empty lol hate crowded shops but wed2be even when other are in its so relaxed

I didn't want a normal wedding dress and my body confidence was pretty low (not ideal for dress shopping) so I bought a 50s one online, tried it on and kept it! In hindsight, I wish I'd gone to a shop to try them on so my mum didn't lose out but I've heard good things about Wed2B and they'd have plenty in your budget.

I fell in love with the 6th dress I tried but I know it was it as soon as I saw it. When people said you’ll know when I find it, I thought what a load of rubbish... I was really lucky and had a big budget BUT my dress was £500! In the sale! I spent £200 having a corset put in so £700, not far off your budget and the dress was originally £1799 😊

I happened to find mine at the very beginning but went to a couple of other shops down south in Glasgow just to be sure of my decision. And don't take too many people or there will be too many opinions which will overwhelm you have the 1 most important person to you or 2 max x

I fell in love with and bought the third dress I tried on. It was also something I never thought I would have liked so it was a surprise. I had another appointment after but nothing compared and I had to run back to the original shop before it closed for the day to put a deposit down as the dress was on sale and it was the last one available.

I bought the third dress I tried on at the boutique I went to, hated the first two that I had picked and let the lady pick some out and fell in love with the first one I tried on! I had a couple of other appointments booked that I still went to to make sure (and went to wed2be as well which I have to say I found the most stressful and pressured place of the lot!) but I would have bought the third dress in a heartbeat!

I was the same. Had decided just to buy a dress online. Mum and MIL took me to one bridal shop (much against my wishes) and they looked after me so much. Can’t believe I get to wear such a beautiful dress for my wedding. Tell them your budget they are super good and being respectful.

I went to a lovely local independent store which had the friendliest, most body positive staff imaginable. Tried on 5, fell in love with the second. Do your research on the shops, call them and ask how much they have within your budget, you'll get an idea of what their service might be like from this call and whether you'll feel comfortable shopping with them. You might also want to see if they have multiple appointments at once or if you'll be the only person in the shop (and which you'd prefer). I'd also avoid taking people who have strong ideas or feelings about what you should wear or what you look good in until you have more of an idea of what you like and feel comfortable in.

I went David’s Bridal and tried on 7 dresses in 1hr30mins roughly and got the 2nd dress I tried on 😃 every dress after that I tried on just wasn’t that one and nothing compared when I was asked how it felt my answer was always yeah it’s nice but it isn’t that one x

First dress I put on in my appointment was the one. The assistant knew exactly what would look good on me. It shows all of the curves. I cried when she put it on as it actually looked good, something I thought I’d never look good in was a wedding dress and panicked at the thought of wearing one.

I was putting off going dress shopping as I had put on a bit of weight and frankly the whole posh dress shop thing terrified me. I eventually plucked up the courage and booked an appointment at a shop which was closing as I thought there would be no pressure. The lady was amazing, I tried on about 5 or 6 dresses and ended going back to the first one I tried on (the same one my mum and I had been admiring at a wedding fayre). I absolutely love it and it's perfect for me. All done in 1.5 hours. Even better, I got a dress that was meant to be £1300 for £250! Bonus!

Try not to get anxious. Have you got an idea what you want or a style that suits you? I knew from an early age what I wanted and the shop I went to had one dress with sleeves. The experienced owner told me to choose 5/6 dresses because usually in her experience what I wanted would change when I tried on different styles. It didn’t and the first dress I tried on was the one. If you are feeling anxious don’t book an appointment until you feel calmer. You will know ‘the dress’ when you try it on. Don’t rush your decision. You will look beautiful.

The first place I went to was an outlet bridal shop in Newcastle. I fell in love with the 2nd dress I tried on. It was one my friend picked for me and was nowhere near the 'style' I had envisaged in my head. But just felt right and was a bargain at £700! You'll know when you won't want to take it off 😆. I thought I'd be shopping for weeks before I found 'the one' as I'm usually so indecisive! 😀

I went to 3 shops - the first one I found a couple I liked, the second one I didn’t even find any I liked enough to try on, even if I disregarded my budget. My third shop was an impulse appointment, I saw an ad on Facebook about a wedding dress sale so booked the appointment and only took my mum with me . It was my third or fourth dress from there that I fell in love with. It was quite a bit out of my budget so I tried on a few more but none of them compared, so I gave in and got the one I wanted.
Tbh it was a lot less stressful than I thought.

My friend booked an appointment in a dress shop for me (mainly cos she always wanted to go in there herself). Chose 5 dresses to try on and fell in love with the very first dress, tried the rest on and still went back to the first.
