Feel very overwhelmed looking at venues ... especially when it comes to catering the prices just go up and up does anyone have any advice as to where to start?

I wrote a list of local venues I liked, how many guests we wanted and our budget. I then worked out what we could afford per person and only viewed venues that were around the figure so I didn't feel tempted to push the budget more. We then viewed the venues we liked which was mega important! The one I always dreamed of were rude and arrogant and the one I least expected to like is where we go married. Make sure you negotiate as well, say oh well another comparable venue will do the same for x and see if they will match. Or if there is anyway to cut corners so to speak, i.e. we had a cheese wedding cake which was then served as our evening buffet so didn't pay as much for evening guests. Weekdays are often cheaper too so if you love one venue but it's pricey, ask if they would do for less in the week. Sorry for the long message 😂

Agree with the above & be cheeky we saw an out of season all in deal for mid week & ended up getting the same deal for August bank holiday weekend it’s always worth asking the question. Also wedding fairs offer great deals & discounts got 50% discount on our photographer & wedding dress good luck x

I didn’t go for a traditional wedding venue, but instead picked a hall in an arts venue - it was much cheaper and looked amazing when covered in fairy lights - think outside the box!

I thought the same when I was looking for my venue. Everything was so expensive. I ended up with a package that includes all catering and even a DJ for my day and it was at least 5-10k cheaper than other venues I had looked at before. Just do as much research as possible and compare it to other venues and try and get quotes for how many people you want to invite, don’t forget not everyone you invite will turn up even if they say they are coming. You could also see if a venue will let you do your own catering, especially for the evening reception. Just throw a beige buffet.
