My fiancé and I have been engaged for just over a year. Ideally we wanted to get married June 2020, however we haven’t been actively planning this due to lack of funds and changing circumstances. We are now looking at the possibility of going abroad as it seems like it would be cheaper. Is this true? Does anyone have any advice? TIA x

I got married abroad and it was the best decision we ever made! It was so much cheaper than getting married here and we got a holiday out of it too. PM me if you want more information

You need to watch as sometimes the marriage license arrangements are different and you could end up not being legally married (happened to a family member a few years back in Barbados) so look up the planning companies before you pick x

I’m getting married abroad and to be honest it’s no cheaper to have a decent wedding in another country. Certainly more expensive for your guests.
You can have a cheaper wedding in the U.K. but we didn’t go abroad to save money so we aren’t bothered.

If your ok with just you two going look into Gibraltar registry office 550 quid through sweet Gibraltar weddings, legally recognised in UK and ruling to get marriage license there is you have to stay in Gibraltar for 24 hours before or after the wedding so you could do the night and then go to spain for rest of the holiday x

We’re getting married in Las Vegas in October, then flying to Mexico for our honeymoon, cost just under £5000 for us both for it all x

It really depends on what you want. Our wedding for 100 guests was 5.5-6k. That was for everything! My dress was a 50s style tea length dress, shoes were brand new Carvela heels I found on eBay and our handmade invites, table plan etc were a gift from the best man's Dad. We didn't want anything fancy or over the top and it was perfect for us. Our honeymoon in SE Asia was extra but because my husband is a savvy traveller we did over 2 weeks away and still managed a number of 5⭐ hotels.

Completely depends on who you book with and where. We looked at Thomas cook and it was mega expensive and didn't have prices until 12 months before the date and then you had to add stuff on top

I got married in Italy three weeks ago and it was the best decision I could have ever made. We had 39 of our closest friends and family and it was miles cheaper than anything we could have had in the UK. We also saved on a honeymoon as the place we got married was beautiful so we stayed there. Feel free to message me about it. More than happy to share my experience ️

It is cheaper if its just you guys but take your guests into consideration. We were going to marry abroad but some friends would have spent a fortune to take their families because they just wouldnt want to miss it. I couldnt justify the expense to our guests. You can easily keep costs down in the UK by DIY'ing things like invitations, flowers and decorations. You could also get married late afternoon and not bother with a formal meal, instead have a buffet in the evening. There's loads of ways to save as people have said

Cheaper for you maybe, but not your guests!!

I am getting married Saturday with 25 ceremony guests and 140 in evening. Done on a budget of 3,500. It can be done cheaply at home but will look expensive and elegant if you use eBay, make your own etc. Congratulations

We was getting married in Greece but with all the documents needing apostled. Changing document from English to greek and visa versa. Plus the uncertainty of the Brexit we changed our mind. So much cheaper to get married in uk

I just got married in Rome last month and saved so much x i would 100% recommend it, the day was more perfect than we could have imagined and our guests loved it x we used a planner but only for the legal side of things and documents then booked everything ourselves separately. This is what i would recommend as we dis get quotes from travel agencies, wedding abroad specialists and wedding planners and still saved thousands compared to the cheapest quote we received. We only had 10 guests coming out as that's what we wanted. Feel free to message me if you want any more info xx

I’m planning and organising our UK wedding and I reckon you can have a fab day for less than 5k and you can have all your family and friends with you.

We chose to marry abroad and yes it’s cheaper but u have to be prepared to sacrifice lots of people coming as some won’t b able to afford it. We are getting married in Jamaica with 10 close family and a 2 week holiday for our family of 3 for £6k. Wedding itself is £1500 for up to 20 guests, flowers, cake, minister and wedding license and a small buffet after the ceremony. We are all inclusive so plan to book a meal for everyone together on our wedding night x

Have a look at perfect weddings abroad. I’ve booked my wedding for May 2020 with them. I’m getting married on a private island off Zante in Greece (the pic) and for what we have chosen and the fact it’s a private island it’s a bargain!!!! I’ll happily go into more detail if you want just drop me a message xx

We found that a wedding abroad wouldn't have worked out any cheaper, we managed to do our whole wedding in the UK for two and a half grand including an all inclusive holiday to gran canaria. And it cost our guests very little to come. X
