Hi all is everyone catering for 100% in the evening? We are so unsure whether to cater for 80% or 100% (have been recommended both by different suppliers and people)

We are doing 70% as most of the guests would've only eaten a couple of hours before so don't want any wastage :)

We have in total (including the day guests) 120 coming for the evening, so are catering for 80ppl as the wedding breakfast isnt till 3pm, so most wont eat that much.

We decided to go for 100% but it is included for all our day guests and less than £8 per person for evening guests

We have catered for the same numbers as the day because we really don't know how many are coming at night. And figured some day guests may have gone by that time and some might not be hungry. Very difficult but we have sweets and cake to.

We are catering for 80 guests and have approx 110 guests.

We’re catering for 100 for the night but inviting around 130 ish, due to the fact most of the guests from the day will be at the night and not long have finished a 3 course meal so won’t need food at night x

Catering for all. Maybe not the odd 1/2 people.
It depends on your guests. If you've got people who can eat a lot - you'll need it. With people drinking the extra food might come in handy.
I think our venue insists we cater for 100% because it's in house catering... but I would rather have too much than not enough

UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

75% is what our venue recommends so that’s what we are doing

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

I think it depends on what you are having we're having a bbq in the evening which were told is 100% catering. If we picked an hot buffet it was 80%

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

We will have 150 invited to the evening reception and was advised by our caterer to cater for 100 people.
We are also having a sweet table and lots of cupcakes so the children will probably fill up on all of that and leave the buffet food for the adults

If you're having a sit down meal first then food in the evening, I found that lots of food was left over.

Our package includes buffet for 110. We have about 140 guests and they said they will still do enough for the 110

We got told 75%

We catered for 100% as that's what our venue advised, in reality a lot of people had left before the food was served and we could have got away with 50%, I would say a lot of it depends on how late the food will be served and the likelihood of your guests staying until then.

We have 50 in the day and roughly 100 on the night. We are doing hot sandwiches and wedges on the night time but, just going to make sure there is enough for everyone. People who are drinking more will eat more! If you have people staying at the venue I'd rather they went to bed on a full stomach rather than catering for 80% and people missing out. We also have a 3 course breakfast

Depends on the food you have.

Buffet = cater for 75%
Served food = cater for 100%

We chartered for 100% but we have now ended up catering for more people than who are attending because they have dropped out a week before the wedding.

We did a sit down meal for our day guests in the afternoon and then catered for 75% of our overall guests in the evening 😊😊

We catered for all as we went to a wedding reception 3 weeks before our wedding and they ran out of food, missing out quite a few people

We are having 80 day rising to 170 at night - we are obviously doing a meal for the day guests then catering for 80% of the evening guests.

We’ve catered for around 80% avth
Food but then have a sweet Cart and popcorn and candy floss x

UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

We're having a bbq, cupcakes with & cream, and a sweet cart. Ceremony isn't til 4pm so everyone will have had breakfast & lunch beforehand.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

No more than 80%. Hotel I worked at did this and this was one of the requirements that wasn't negotiable on my list for venues. You'll have only fed the majority of your guests a couple of hours earlier xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

I catered for all. Nowt worse than being hungry at a party. There was barely anything left on my buffet despite there being less people than catered for and my venue didn't skimp on portions sizes etc so there was plenty.

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

Bi think it depends how much food your caterer allows per person. We will probably go for 75 to 80% but I know that plenty of food will be made

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 18 Jul 2018

Don't do 100% we did this and lost so much money! loads of guests didn't turn up and half didn't eat as they had eaten with us a few hours before you'd get away with 70% easily x

We’re getting a pizza van for the evening so it’s cooked to order in a couple of mins. We have to have minimum 50 pizzas but with 90 day guests having eaten and 30 evening guests, I reckon we won’t need much more than that

Susie Booth
Susie Booth 19 Jul 2018

We are catering for the full 100 guests as we are only having an evening reception x

Dina Gregory
Dina Gregory 28 Jul 2018
