I have found invites on hobycraft which i like alpng with cards i will use for my save the dates. Is it too esrly to purchase these things? Or does it not matter yet? If you've got the money and you definitely like them, then start buying them 🙂.

I've found our save the dates and we will be getting them soon (though probably not sending them out until the end of the year) as we get married on the 7th May 2020.

I bought our invitations etc before we had even booked a date! We are on a budget, I liked them and they were a bargain so will just store them until needed. Gotta love an Aldi special buy lol x

Absolutely do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it! There's no law! In fact I'm quite in awe you are so organised. I'm still yet to find my photographer and I get married less than 4 months

I personally think save the dates is a waste of money. We’ll be sending out our invites 9-12 months before the wedding. I will be putting a date in the invite where I need RSVPs by and if they are not back I am automatically assuming that they can’t/don’t want to be there. I’m not willing to waste money just to see if people want to come but yeah by all means get everything crafty now 🙂

I bought all my crafty things as I went along we booked ours 2 years prior to the date and we get married next month made it less stressful buying little bits here and there and didn't notice the cash spending as much either. X

Leave them!! There will be more and it's just clutter for now! I bought things that I thought would be useful and I either can't find them or they are in the way!

If you have seen them and like them buy them now, you don't have to use them. Please don't worry about time - 'only 28months' is a very very long time!! I got engaged a year and a day to our wedding, and booked it with 10.5 months to go and it was fine!!

I'm getting married a year tomorrow and all I have booked is my church 😂 made me own save the dates that have been sent (you can only book foreign holidays a year in advance so I sent them out so they couldn't have that excuse) x

Want to wish everyone all the best with all their wedding planning. We started planning ours at the beginning of January this year. I have been the stressed out one. But stressed for nothing really. Tomorrow is our wedding day and Saturday evening we will be celebrating with family and friends. Don't stress everything works out perfectly.

We bought craft stuff very early and then it took about six months to actually put the invites together!! So buying them with plenty of time was definitely the best decision!!

I'm getting married in 2020 too and I've just bought some confetti balloons and a Mr and Mrs sign for our top table! We made our save the date cards and are using the rest of the card for our invites. I think if you really like it then go for it as it will spread cost out. But I'm trying to bare in mind that styles and fashions change too, so something that you like now but there might be something different/better you see say in a years time xx

I’m not as organised as I want to be. If I had it my way I would have all invitations sent, the groomsmen picked, suits ordered, my dress and bridesmaids and hair and makeup sorted. I want everything to be booked now so I can pay it off and not have to worry but my mum and H2B think otherwise

UKbride Administrator

We've booked for 30/7/2020 and pretty much everything is sorted I'm uber organised and making my own invites /save the date cards and have already started getting ideas etc so if it chills you out and you are ready to buy them and have somewhere safe to store them why not ️ can't beat being organised

Maybe buy a few things you see around but also wait a bit on some of the bigger things like invitations. Sales and discounts come around every so often and you'll be able to save a lot of money if you just purchase stuff as and when the discount season rolls around. And if it gets to around 9 months before the wedding and there's still things you need to buy then you can start picking up the rest.

I only say this cause I got my invitations 50% off, saving us £80 or so. And we're having wooden names instead of place cards and we managed to get 40% off those as well, which saved us £30-40.

I'm getting married in July 2020 and already have my wedding dress paid off, fell in love soon as I saw it. Currently looking for places that hire land out so we can look into booking a marquee as we lobe the idea of a bbq rather than a formal sit down meal, this is the part I am struggling with, actually finding somewhere.
Good luck to everyone with their weddings and planning xxx

Buy them when you like if your D.I.Y then it can take a while to make them anyway....daily life is so inconsiderate and gets in the way! Make sure you buy a few extra to allow for mistakes you don't want to end up with not enough and then find out they no longer stock what you need.

I’ve been buying things as and when I see them and I’m not getting married until Nov next year. I’ve had the save the dates for about 4 months, and just waiting to send them. If you do it bit by bit, it doesn’t feel like you’re paying loads out all at once.

Buy the craft things now, they may not be in stock later on... and if you really want them you will regret it... and there is nothing wrong with being extra organised.

I went to hobycraft on Saturday and had a look at the invitations I thought about getting... so glad I didn’t buy them online because they don’t look as nice in person. I’m gutted because they look so lovely online l. I did buy some pearlescent card and some stamp stuff to try and make my own save the dates to see what they will look like. I will have to keep looking but I’m sure I will find something! I hope everyone gets on well with their planning 💖
