We don’t need anything, so we’re saying our guests shouldn’t feel obligated to gift us anything, but if they want to, we’d appreciate money or specific shop/restaurant vouchers for date nights

That's what we did. I am surprised and humbled at how generous all our friends and family have been although we still got 2 sets of mr and Mrs mugs, a couple of picture frames and a lucky horseshoe! Our wording was "Please no gifts (we live in a studio flat), all we want is your company, however if you want to contribute to our honeymoon of a lifetime our trailfinders code is xxx"

A friend of mine asked for donations to honeymoon or to a charity close to them - was quite a nice touch

We've set up a Justgiving page for Macmillan. I mean, if people have a specific thing that they want to give us, or if they specifically want to give us money, that's fine, but for most people we're happy enough that it goes to a charity of our choice. Plus we're hoping to mug people for their change at the bar... ;)

Most couples ask for money now. We live together so don't need the traditional presents so we've ordered some lovely cards with a poem asking for money. They're really cheap on eBay

We had this poem included in our invites, we've been together for 10 years (11 years now including the 1year of happy marriage!) -

In a wedding invitation,
You usually find some lists,
For Venues, menus and hotels,
And also for the gifts.

But this one is unusual,
It comes in a different way,
As we’re not asking for presents,
But for something else today.

Now please don’t think we’re selfish,
Or that this comes from greed,
But we’ve lived together for a while,
So there’s not much that we need.

We would appreciate your help though,
To send us on our way,
A contribution to our honeymoon,
In a land quite far away.

So now the point of all this rhyme,
The thing we would really like,
Isn’t towels, toasters or microwaves,
But pounds and pence alike.

And now you know the reason,
Behind this cheeky accord,
Please help to give us memories,
Of a dream Honeymoon abroad.

Most of all, we hope you are able to join us on 11th March 2017 to share our special day.

With much Love from
The Bride and Groom
