Hi B2B's. What are you all spending on your weddings? I've seen a lot of £2k budgets on here but ours is coming in quite a lot higher. It all adds up I guess. We don't want to short change. I just want to know we're not the only ones.

Mines coming in at about 6k. But we are hoping to shave a bit off here and there.

We are only just starting to plan our wedding and will only be having a small wedding but looking at the prices of venues around my area we will be going well over 4k once we factor in all the bits and bobs 😫

Honestly we're doing it as it comes but atm it's coming quite cheap

Not easy to compare cost as loads of various factors, number of guests, location, number on wedding party, amount of personal touches etc.

I priced up quite a few different places. I had 65 day guests and another 40 extra on the night..
I found that a room whether it be in a pub or community centre after a church wedding would cost me between 8-10k inc cost of church wedding/ cars etc.
Hotels and barns then between 15 and 20k
Then a few extra Extravagant places where I’d have exclusive use were coming in about 25k-35k
I did want a church wedding and a sit down meal though plus lots of extras and had to do a Saturday (I DIYd loads and saved a fortune too!) I think you can get the cost down if you don’t mind doing things differently

How are people managing with a 2k budget. I'm struggling to find a venue alone less than 3k and that's doing it with a cheap season package. Never mind dress, cars, etc

Lisa Davey
Lisa Davey 25 Apr 2018

Keeping ours under £2,000 due to having to!! not having a big sit down meal not having hundreds of people, not having a car, photographer, or videos, or anything special really no honeymoon either as we have 4 children ...did my invites on vista print £30 for 200 for the after celebrations. Registry office fees and £90 for hall hire! My dress isnt the £800 one i fell for as i just don't have that kind of money to spend...i ordered my dress online as didnt have anyone to go "dress shopping" with. Had no one but my other half to show when it turned up either 🤣 Not really having a dream day But i am marrying my soul mate and id do that in a flipping bin bag.. and thats the main thing. Can not see the point in spendig so much money in 1 day!

Looking at around 13k for 72 guests. Never intended to spend so much but it’s something you only do once.

Marie Richardson

Our venue with food etc is £4k so with all the extras it's coming in approx £6k and I thought I was doing things quite cheap lol

Laura Stewart
Laura Stewart 25 Apr 2018

Doesn’t matter how much anyone spends as long as the end goal happens - end goal being married to your partner

Including our honeymoon and mini moon with 95 guests we are spending a little over 40k

We are older, no plans to have children, already have a house and we both have good jobs, we’ve decided to just go with it

Good luck to everyone making your day special to you xx

Our venue (without catering costs) is 7k, so probably 20-25 by the time we’ve got everything else x

We are having a very small intimate wedding for 15 close family and friends. Late morning ceremony, then off to a set 3 course lunch at a rural pub/hotel who are letting us exclusively use there second smaller room in the restaurant for no charge (they will make the money on the food and drinks bill). We (bride and groom) and 3 couples of close friends are staying the night at pub/hotel so will meet down at the bar later on in the evening for drinks. Our main expense was my dress and the church but all will come in for under 2k.

If you do lots of things yourself rather than hiring people in (for example venue decoration, making your own cake, etc) then you can save loads of money. There are loads of really good guides on how to DIY and save money on a wedding here: http://weddingbudgeter.com/blog/ ️

£10000 looking at about £500 over budget once my dress alterations have been done. My mum paid for my dress (£2000) and this bridesmaids dresses. Also the cake is being made as a wedding present for us. So I guess about £14000 if we were paying it all x

Andrea Lawlor
Andrea Lawlor 25 Apr 2018

Mine has come in at about 20k 🙈 it's all about what you want to speand/can afford to spend and at the end of that day what you want. My venue is costing 8k alone as I wanted to get married in a Scottish castle 🙈

In all fairness, you spend what you want to and as long as you are happy then nobody can tell you otherwise 😊😊😊

Rachel Roberts 25 Apr 2018

We spend about 3k make that day all about us not makin every one else happy x

Laura Walburn
Laura Walburn 25 Apr 2018

Spend to your means - some venues are more expensive than others but we equally found some that were cheaper and fitted our Vision. Depends also on how much you want to do yourself vs what’s easier to pay others to do!

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 26 Apr 2018

Our is maybe about 16-17k. Don't know exactly because parents have helped, but that's it roughly xx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 26 Apr 2018

Ours came to just under £10,000 for absolutely everything. Could have done it cheaper though. You need to know exactly what you want and then start shopping around for it. For instance my dress was made for me, unique. You’d think that’d be expensive but it was only £300. I started looking really early for bridesmaids dresses so I managed to find some stunning ones in the sale and stored them away. The flower girls dresses turned out to be one of the most expensive things I bought but they’ve been used again at parties and things so worth it in the end

Lauren Shephard 26 Apr 2018

I wouldn't worry about the budgets people share on here, or compare yourself to other weddings... The average spend on a UK wedding is nowhere near £2k, or even £10k!

There are lots of people who will be spending an awful lot more than £2k, but will be unlikely to shout about the cost on a public forum!

Spend what you can afford and what you feel is right for you and your partner personally. That's all that matters.

We don’t have wedding cars and luckily my soon to be father in law is a wedding photographer so saved money there I dread to think what it would have been . We have 6 bridesmaids we’ve paid for everything for them . We have a videographer . We’re having a bbq and evening buffet instead of sit down meal so saved money there . We are hiring our centrepieces and table and chair covers to save money , we have a dj instead of a band to save money . We get married in July this year and my sister gets married August next year and her budget it 30 k it depends what you want x

Jade Williams
Jade Williams 26 Apr 2018

6k on the wedding and 6k on the honeymoon x

Sharon Allen
Sharon Allen 26 Apr 2018

Depends on what you want . My wedding was £1200 for wedding cars, makeup and hair, photographer, sweet table, food, venue, DJ, cake, dress and decorations. It is possible to do so as long as you are happy with what you are paying and it's not going to get you in debt then it doesn't matter what other people are/have paid. 😊

Michaela Sharp

Just my venue comes in at around £4250 so it's going to be quite a lot of money. I'm having around 40 day guests 50 eve and a December wedding to cut costs.

Kate Harvey
Kate Harvey 26 Apr 2018

We’ve budgeted about £17k. I think it’s all dependent on the sort of day you want, and the amount of money you have! We’ve recently (sadly) received some inheritance from hubby to bes Grandma, and I know she’d want us to spend it on our day. We could have done it cheaper but as I say, that’s the day we want to have. Approx 100 day guests and 200 evening. Xxx

UKbride Administrator
UKbride Administrator 26 Apr 2018

Up to now ours is £3000 just for the venue, 3 course breakfast and evening buffet.......( OH picked the venue) still got everything else to sort ( over a year and half away tho so plenty of time yet) our thoughts are we are only going to do this once so we will be making it a special day for the 2 of us and our closest family. But as long as I have a lovely dress and a brill photographer I’m happy

UKbride Administrator

Don’t be scared to ask for discounts on the venue ect, I did and got 450 knocked off

Kathryn Leivers
Kathryn Leivers 28 Apr 2018

About 10k I won the venue which saved 2,500. Sit down meal for 30 is over 2k. I spent all in all for my dress and accessories 1000. I paid for 5 tailed suit hire which is 500. My 3 bridesmaids have cost around 400. Luckily we've got a friend who is a Photographer so she knocked over a 1000 off the bill!

Jacqui Lovell-Shippey
Jacqui Lovell-Shippey 10 Jun 2018

Mine is £15,000, but I'm really hoping it will be less than that. The main thing is the venue for me. I'm hoping to get the decorations etc in a budget.
