Anyone got any tips on haggling with prices? Going to see our venue again soon and I want to book it but would like to get some money off if possible.

In my experience you are unlikely to get a discount but you might get something added in extra for free (maybe the toast drink or bridal suite etc).
But others might have had different experiences, I think it depends on venue

Go to another venue that’s offering mostly the same stuff but that’s cheaper and make sure you get it all in writing and take that with you to the venue you want and see if that works take for you ! We did this and we got £1k knocked off our venue cost ! Xx

We asked at one venue and got confused at what was included in the package because it was extra for the wedding breakfast which was bizarre 😂 so when we asked she immediately knocked of £1k of the price but they were still wanting over £14k over all. Without the ceremony room!! We went for a different venue that was under half the price and we felt so much comfier.

Sometimes they actually offer so much in the package that they can’t really knock anything off. We started with canapés because most of the time they get wasted anyway and that saves me £400 ish. Then changing from the expensive wine to house wine. All the little things you can knock money off and safe, just look at what’s included and what’s not. See what you need and what you don’t and go from there. Really think about it. Do you really need a full 3 course meal or would you just be happy with 2 courses etc etc x

Simply ask, say it’s near the top end of your budget and ask if there is any flexibility in price.

The only thing you can do is ask, let them no it’s your favourite venue it’s just slightly out of your budget, we got our room hire knocked off which was 2k so you never know x

I told them my budget and it was over, so they recommended i did a 2 course meal (as got evening food as well) and they halved the ceremony cost to get me to my budget (and i booked 2 years in advance)

Instead of haggling down on the price - I tried to get extra included. E.g upgrade from house sparkling to champagne / seat covers included / choice of meals rather than the same for everyone. They will more likely budge on that than a package price xx

We are a wedding venue, and if couples come to us and are happy to tell us their budget and expected numbers of guests we are happy to work with them to give examples of what they can do to keep within their budget. this may be compromising by changing date or having canapes instead of starters for example but most venues only want couples to be happy and will be open to help if the couple are so my suggestion is be honest and ask for help.
