So h2b and I are looking into honeymoons. Has anyone looked into the Maldives or been? How long should we go for? Where should we stay? Can we do multi location eg Sri Lanka and the Maldives? Has anyone got experience? Thanks!!

We did an action packed week in Dubai and then a week in the Maldives and it was amazing! Had a sea villa with private infinity pool in Maldives and can't recommend it enough, we did scuba diving, massages and went On a boat trip to the wild dolphins (literally hundreds of them!) Couldn't have picked a better honeymoon! X

We have just got back from our honeymoon in Kuramathi in the Maldives. It has been the best holiday we have had - a great mixture of enough things to do (turtle snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding etc) whilst spending loads of time relaxing on the beach. Kuramathi is one of the bigger islands which I’d recommend if you want variety in terms of activities and places to eat. We stayed for 7 nights which wasn’t really long enough. I’d say 10 would have been perfect. Good luck choosing!

I’ve done Sri Lanka for a week with some sight seeing and then kuramathi like Alice and I agree best time ever. You do very little in the Maldives so it’s good for relaxation. 1 week in both worked well xx

We looked at Maldives the cost of the transfer put us off. We were planning on doing a multi location but in the end we settled for a adult only cottage resort in Antigua. We booked it with our local virgin holiday travel agents and the guy was fantastic it looked at all the option and made quotes up nothing was to much so might be worth going and seeing what they offer. Enjoy finding the right place the two of you x

We are doing a two week tour of Sri Lanka, then going for four days to mufushivaru (not spelt right) so we have a few quiet days before going home, good luck and go with your gut

We booked Maldives last Thursday for our honeymoon. We're big into diving so 2 weeks for us is perfect. We're on a liveaboard for a week on the Northern Atol and then a week on an resort so we can do some proper chilling out and probably some kayaking, snorkling, paddleboarding and stuff.

We did 10 nights in the Maldives at ellaidhoo by cinnamon. It was amazing but there wasn't much to do on that island, no evening entertainment etc. Snorkling was amazing there and there were plenty of excursions. If you want an island paradise where you do nothing that swim or just lay there all day then it would be perfect. I'd recommend the cinnamon brand but maybe one of their other islands as the other 2 they own are larger and have more entertainment x

We've booked Meeru for 10 nights.. I think we would get cabin fever if we did any longer. I work in travel and I asked around the office before booking and the general opinion was 10 or 11 nights would be better :)

We did 2 weeks at Ellaidhoo by Cinnamon, it’s a beautiful island, fantastic for snorkelling and diving. Limited evening entertainment, fantastic food and service. There are many excursions but at extra cost. Fortunately we are qualified scuba divers so spent most of our honeymoon underwater!

I went to the Maldives this January it's truly paradise, it's one of those places that's warm all year round and weather is so unpredictable we had a gorgeous week sunshine every day and average temp was 32 it did reach 37 one day we were told whilst out there the reason they have different seasons is mainly due to wildlife, in January you will see a lot more than maybe June (however as you know the sea is unpredictable so who really knows) it's one of those places that we will have to save extremely hard to go again but would pick it every time for a perfect honeymoon location ️

I'm also looking to book the Maldives for our honeymoon so following this post! Has anyone been in May/June time? We would be looking to go on our honeymoon the 27th May next year but it says it is monsoon season, does that mean it will be raining most days? X

I’ve been to the Maldives & would highly recommend it.
We went to Aruba for our honeymoon. It was fantastic.
We booked through a lady called Lisa at travel councilors, she was fab & organized everything with no extra charge. I know she also does a package where your guests can contribute to your honeymoon.

Here is the link to her Facebook page.

Hope that helps xxx

We went to Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu, Maldives for our honeymoon and it was the best decision we made! We took 10 days - the first couple spent recovering from wedding mania and jet lag, and then a proper week of just relaxing in the sun.
Plenty to do (sunset fishing, scuba diving, watersports, spa) and the food was THE BEST! Couldn't recommend it enough.

You can go whatever you want! My husband organised ours as a surprise, 2 and a half weeks in South East Asia. Beijing, Singapore and Java in Indonesia for the active parts then Bali and Borneo for relaxing. The bonus of that part of the world is once the flight is done, luxury accommodation can be very reasonable and there is so much to see and do. We've also been to Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar so would recommend them too!
