We are getting married in Windsor but cannot book the registrar until a year before, has anyone had any trouble before with one not being available?

That's unusual. I booked mine like a year and a half in advance. You can't give notice until a year before but I would have thought you would be able to book. I'm getting married in Yorkshire however so the rules might be different for different areas

If its a registry office then thats same rules as we have. But if its a stately home or hotel we can book the registrar upto 3 yrs in advance.. Varies from all areas by the look of it.. good luck..

i’m in devon so may be different rules but we could provisionally book the registrar up to 3 years in advance with a £50 deposit and ring on the exact year before to officially book

Yes we had to do the same. Ended up no registrar available so went with a humanist

You can pay to reserve the date with the registrar...that's what we did 2 years in advance :)

We had to do the same, wait a year before. Wasn't too worried though, and we got one booked. Xx

I'm from Sheffield. I paid £50 for a provisional booking 2 years before And have to give notice not more than 10 months before or less than 4 months :)

You can book the registrar any time in advance, it's just giving notice you can't do til a year before

We're getting married in the lakes Sept 19, booked the registrar 2 years in advance, wouldn't allow any bookings more than 2 years in advance I panicked as it's a popular place to get married, but we had no trouble. Just think, nobody else can book for the day you want any earlier than you can, I found registrars responded quicker via email, so maybe worth a thought. Hope you get your time and day 🤞

We are getting married in windsor and had the same problem - we just waited till it was a year out and queued outside the registry office, we got the first slot, before anyone else who was ringing in.

My wedding has been booked since last February and I had a phone call in October to put the deposit down for 2020!

We had the same when we got married, I called 9am the day we could book and got the time we wanted. I think as long as you call in the morning you should be fine, there are multiple Registra’s so the chance of the whole day getting booked up before you have chance to get through is quite slim just be prepared to change your times slightly incase you can’t get the exact time and have in your mind the times that you would accept.

I got married in maidenhead last October and had no issue getting one. They have quite a lot of registrars I think so you should be fine.

We were told once we had the venue booked we could reserve which I have done today. We are getting married June 19 but have booked registrar today and don’t need to pay anything until 3 months before the wedding. Just the notice you can’t do until 12 months before x

We couldn’t book but I just phoned the day to the year before and got the time we wanted. Just make sure you phone up a year to the day and I’m sure it will be fine x

I am getting married this august but provisonally booked my registrar in november 2016. You should be able to make a provisional booking with a non refundable deposit before a year. Then you have to make an appointment within your wedding year to secure booking usually time you give notice. I am in Oxfordshire. Hope you get it all sorted

No body else will be able to book that date yet either so make the appointment to give notice of marriage a year before to the exact day, we gave notice about 8 months before and there was no problems and we're getting married in July which is a popular time

There will be someone there will be a few working and the ceremony is roughly 30mins so they do it slots to allow for travel. I called with 8 months to go and had the choice of 3 slots. Just be prepared to be flexible.
