Hey B2B's. I like the idea of including the music genres myself and my fiance like in the reception alongside some generic wedding songs. Has anyone else done this?

We're choosing suitable songs we like but in piano versions. Such as Beyonce's Halo in just piano music. Have a look on YouTube for help. We got a lot of music from there.

We had an hour of 90’s music which actually turned into the whole night because everyone loved it. We had no generic wedding music as personally don’t like dancing to it. X

We had romantic wedding songs in our genre. We had a blues brothers tribute act who played motown in between sets which everyone loved and got everyone dancing. Also had different genres we liked for different parts of the day. (jazz for coming in etc.)

We haven't used any generic wedding songs just music we like! Mostly country and then we've got a heavy metal song to exit the ceremony to :) we've even got Ricky gervais's david Brent album on our reception playlist

We got married st the weekend and had a Spotify playlist including our music (indie) and the classics for the oldies. Worked a treat

Where asking people for song requests on our invites and making a list for the dj with our own choices that way there will be a nice mix hopefully.

We had a mixture of our favourites and floor fillers and the DJ read the room beautifully! Standard floor fillers were played after our first dance and we wandered off to mingle. When the dancers had tired themselves out, DJ let loose with the metal...and we reentered the dance floor

my family usually have a party every year for someone’s big birthday/anniversary so i know what songs will get them on the floor so have given the dj a list of songs to be played and in 4 categories but he will also add what he feels will be good and fill the time

We run a mobile disco company covering South Wales and surrounding areas and do this all the time. We offer a free consult with the couple before The day to get a list of music they love and what songs they feel speak about them from their early days to now - works really well and really gives an atmosphere of the couple's personalities to the celebrations

We used music we really liked for while the wedding breakfast was taking place, so it was a mix of country songs and more traditional songs. For the evening, we said to the DJ we wanted the cheesy stuff that gets people on the dancefloor, and it really did! We found people weren't requesting songs because what the DJ was playing the kind of stuff people wanted. He was open to requests though, just no one offered!

We're choosing a few songs we like & asking everyone to pick a song of their choice to be played just so there's a mix :)
