I am getting married in France in August 2018 and after the official wedding at the registry office we are planing a non-religious ceremony for the whole family however I am struggling a little bit with the actual ceremony, what to say, what to sing, how to plan it, who should talk etc... we don’t want to pay a professional we don’t know to do it and want to keep it short (about 30mins) and fun. Has anybody done it before? Thank you
Have a look online for non religious ceremonies
I got my brother to read a part from Captain Corellis Mandolin 'Love is a temporary madness' https://www.hitched.co.uk/wedding-planning/readings/an-extract-from-captain-corellis-mandolin_794.htm My mother-in-law wrote a poem and my best friend sang Lana Del Reys 'Young and Beautiful'. We didn't want anything religious and our ceremony was under 30 mins. This is where you can include family/friends :) x
Iv booked a humanist celebrant as we didn’t want a religious ceremony, she gave us some ideas of things we could include but ultimately it’s upto us and makes it really personal.
Isn't that why you are having it in a registry office anyway? That's where I had mine because it was non religious and we had all our songs, "readings" etc incorporated into the service. The registrar was great and it cost no more.
If it's just for show and not a legal ceremony, which is the feeling I'm getting if you're having a registry office beforehand. Then you can download whatever you want and say whatever you want. You could have readings from best friends and family. You can word the ceremony part however you want. And you can have whatever music you want. If it's completely sentimental and non-legal there really are no holds barred. I'd say just look up some basic ceremony guides and then you can add or change whatever you want. Be creative :)
There are loads of different options available for making the most out of a non-legal ceremony, we've asked our friend who is a stand up comedian to do it for us!
